Pricing for SEMrush is more on the higher end, given the feature-rich options of tools available and the fact that it’s an all-in-one solution.

The competitive metrics and keyword research tools are amazing however, the thing that outshines with SEMRush is that it seems that they never stop adding new features. It's become the most valuable tool in our arsenal. It became hard to justify paying for other tools we were using and SEMRush because of the new features they add.
To be honest, there is nothing I can think of that is worth complaining about.
I have been using SEMRush since 2010 or 2011. We run a small agency providing comprehensive services. SEMRush has evolved from a keyword and competitor research tool to something that we now use for structuring Google Ads accounts, content strategy, competitor analysis, SEO ideation, and more.
I could list all of the amazing qualities that I like about SEMrush, but you might as well read their list of services. I'm in love with the keyword magic tool planner. Position tracking is amazing. Great competitor analysis tool. The projects are very easy to manage if you have multiple clients and accounts. We use the system to manage a lot of different clients, and it's an easy interface to work with. The tools in the beta version are actually pretty great, including the topic research tool and the SEO writing assistant tool. The lead generation tool is also very helpful.
The only dislike I have is that I wish it was easier and more user-friendly to add/delete keywords. When I delete keywords sometimes, it looks as if the whole keyword list is going to be deleted. It's sorta confusing. Also, when you're editing the list of keywords and you click to view the entire list, it only shows the first ~29ish keywords.
I use SEMrush for my search marketing services. The benefits are incredible; it helps my in all areas of my work, including content writing, keyword analysis, competitor analysis, and basically every aspect of successful SEO.
Keyword Magic has quickly become one of my favorite keyword research tools, especially with the additional functionality that was added. I'm also a big fan of their organic ranking data, which was the and the access to historical data was the primary reason I started using it in the first place. The ability to parse by subdomains was a much needed addition, and quite possibly one of my favorites so far.
The backlink areas isn't as extensive as I'd like it to be, but I can't complain -- having it there, even though it lacks a bit of functionality, is extremely helpful.
I'm a consultant, so I use SEMrush daily when auditing and creating SEO strategies for clients.
The value for all of the features that are provided.
I'd prefer more user accounts without upgrading service tier.
Competitive intelligence in the constantly changing landscape of organic search.
It's hard to say just one... But if I really had to pick. I'd say the bucket of competitive analysis (paid, organic and position tracking).
Sometimes, the position specified on SEMRush is different when I do a Google search. So sometimes I'me hesitant to announce new ranking positions to the team without first verifying with an actual search... 95% of the time it's accurate.
Outsmarting the competition with Digital Marketing... The position tracking tool is probably my favorite. Plug in your competitors and keywords, and watch the progress over time.
The ability to quickly track trends and then send automated reports
Sometimes the tracking program is not on target, so we use it as a trend indicator
Time. It used to take a lot of time to write reports and track progress.
I like the ability to track my keywords in close to real time.
Keywords limits in my custom website reports. Estimated traffic is way off.
Still just the keywords.
The topic research, SEO Content Template, and SEO Writing Assistant make content marketing so much more effective. Not only can you make sure content is providing value by match the real things people are searching for, you can easily optimize both existing and new content to make sure it is beating your competitors in search results. Plus, the analytics tools and autogenerated reports make reporting a breeze.
Though it's a great tool for content marketing, it's really made for SEO experts so you have to know a lot about SEO to be able to use SEMrush effectively. Most content marketers don't know SEO, so I don't a lot of people who do content marketing based on SEO like we do.
We use SEMrush to help us fine-tune our content marketing efforts so that our content is working to bring more organic traffic to our website. Without it, it was hard to know what would resonate with web searchers, but with it, getting content seen is much easier.
I use the Site Audit on a daily basis to diagnose and fix technical site errors on our clients' sites. It's extremely helpful and really paints a full picture of a site's overall health, unlike other tools out there.
White label reports are good but not fully customizable. Also the Listing Management tool needs to be free at least for business and enterprise plans.
I can easily identify local/national & organic/paid competitors for our clients, prioritize tasks and be able to make more informed decisions as it relates to SEO strategy.
So many different available keyword researching tools and techniques for you to understand in every way which works best for you. Plenty of training, easy interfaces and navigation, good support, and no pressure to buy more upgrades, etc.
Only allows for one device logged in at a time for each user. Other than that I have nothing I dislike about SEM rush.
SEMrush is probably the site we use most for SEO. Really helps a ton when figuring out what people are searching for. We also use it for Site Audit tools to fix errors on our sites and rate better with search engines. Every time we use it we discover new tools to better optimize our sites and posts.
They have a special FB group to discuss the tools as well as giving each other valuable advice and questions. Gives me alot of valuable data for my SEO business especially when researching "what to do". It's reasonable priced compared to Ahrefs and Moz. They are always making improvements! They do quality education !!! Love their webinars and demos
Keyword research tool. Need improvements. Does not seem accurate so have to purchase another tool for that. I do mostly Local and the rankings are rarely accurate. Like how another tool is better for local KW and rankings. Wish SEMrush could do it that way Don't like their online support. However now that they have this new FB group, I'm happy again.
Competitor research. Domain Traffic sources, Pretty client reporting, To link audit
We love that with SEMRush we are able to manage our client's projects easily. It provides a quick snapshot of projects, especially while we're on a phone meeting with them and they ask specific questions.
The dashboard can be a little confusing, but once a user gets the hang of the sections and areas to go it becomes much easier to use.
We needed a single dashboard that we could manage multiple client projects in. SEMRush provides that and allow
Keyword Tracking, Organic Research Overview page for proposals to prospect clients.
That I couldn't export the PDF with my logo without upgrading my subscription but I understand as well and the price was that absurd.
Reporting to clients on a monthly basis
I like the daily tracking of the individual keywords
I dislike that some rankings aren't updated for weeks or even months
The link building tool has saved us time and found new opportunities
I like the competitor analysis data set the best. There are so many different ways to look at this data and that’s very helpful to us.
Nothing really to dislike but it did take a bit of a learning curve to get the full benefits of the service.
Seeing competitors back links and then using Semrush recommendations.
Strong competitive intelligence and analysis. I like the automatic weekly generated emails that are sent to my inbox that tracks my company against my competition. SEM Rush also gives me and my team good insights in how we can gain greater organic traffic.
There isn't a lot to dislike. For the tools, analytics, and insights it provides, it's a low cost tool that does most of what I need to do. While I'd like more analysis of my social media strategy, I don't fault the tool for that. There are others that specialize in this.
Keyword research and competitor tracking.
I've used all of the popular SEO and spy tools (ahrefs, Moz, Raven, adbeat, etc.) and SEMRush is the only one I can justify paying for EVERY month. Every other tool has it's purpose but SEMRush packs a ton of features. It is great for keyword research, competitive research, SEO audits, etc, and the price is fair.
The backlink tracking could be better. This is the one area where tools like ahrefs beat SEMRush. If they had a better backlink tool, I would never use a competing service again.
Keyword research, SEO Tracking, SEO audits, etc.
The projects feature is very useful for tracking purposes.
Wish I could have more projects and I think the overall site crawler could work a bit more effectively.
SEO analysis and insights. I've been able to find many link opportunities and keep track of our implementations.
There are so many different tools available that help us track our own seo performance as well as seeing what's working for our competitors.
There are so many different tools it's almost difficult to know how to take advantage of all of them.
SEO strategies, keywords to target and link building strategies.
With Google narrowing down a lot of ways to determine link authority, SEMrush helps us determine what our most valuable partners are.
Their site crawler is resource intensive and is rough on our server when it hits our site.
Has helped us improve our international SEO vastly.
