Blog
What is a Blog?
A blog is a website or section of a website where a writer publishes articles on a particular topic, sharing ideas, information, and opinions with a broader audience. Blogs are updated regularly and serve both personal and business purposes.
Website owners arrange blog posts in reverse chronological order so visitors see the latest published content first.
While blogs started as personal journals, businesses now use them to connect with customers, provide helpful content marketing, and introduce their products and services. Most blogs include comment sections where readers and authors can interact.

History & Origin of the Term
In 1997, Jorn Barger coined the term “weblog.” The first blog is widely attributed to Justin Hall, who launched Links.net in 1994 – sharing short articles with links and opinions. At the time, these sites were called “online diaries.”
Early blogging platforms like Open Diary, Blogger, and Live Journal emerged in the late 1990s. The term “weblog” was shortened to “blog” around the same time.
By 2002, blogging shifted from hobby to career. People started monetizing their blogs with BlogAds, and companies developed more tools to help people market their content. Monetization expanded the next year with AdSense.
The blogging industry grew rapidly, leading to the creation of WordPress in 2003. As bloggers covered news and politics, audiences began trusting blogs as a legitimate media source.
