How we research, rank, and review software

Last updated: April 2026

Findstack helps software buyers compare B2B products across hundreds of categories. Because our pages influence real purchase decisions, we want buyers to be able to see exactly how we gather data, which sources we rely on, and where our limitations are. This page documents that process in plain language.

We take inspiration from the public methodologies of established review platforms such as G2, TrustRadius, and Capterra, but Findstack is a smaller, independent operation and we describe only what we actually do — not what we aspire to.

1. Product data

Every product profile on Findstack is built from a combination of publicly available vendor information and structured data that we maintain in‑house. For each listing we track:

  • Pricing and plan details — sourced from the vendor's public pricing page and refreshed periodically. Where pricing is not published, we mark it as such rather than guess.
  • Features, integrations, and deployment options — sourced from vendor documentation, product pages, and integration directories.
  • Company information — founding year, headquarters, and ownership where publicly available via Crunchbase, company registries, and vendor websites.
  • Categories and target segments — each product is classified into one or more categories and tagged by company size (freelancer, small business, mid‑market, enterprise) based on vendor positioning and aggregated review signals.

Vendors can claim their listing to update product information directly. Claimed listings are reviewed before changes are published.

2. Reviews and ratings

Findstack references user reviews from multiple third‑party platforms — including G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, and GetApp — to give buyers a more complete picture than any single source can provide. Review data is aggregated rather than reproduced: we link back to the original platforms so you can read individual reviews on the platform that verified them.

Users can also leave reviews directly on Findstack. First‑party reviews are moderated before publication and we reject reviews that appear to come from a vendor's own employees, competitors, or that fail basic quality checks. We do not paraphrase or rewrite reviews, and we do not use generative AI to create synthetic reviews.

Where a product has too few reviews to produce a meaningful aggregate rating, we display the underlying review count honestly instead of generating a score from an insufficient sample.

3. Category rankings and "best of" lists

Category rankings on Findstack (for example, Best CRM Software or Best Email Marketing Platforms) are generated from the structured product data and aggregated review signals described above. We prioritize products that have a credible review footprint, transparent pricing, and strong feature coverage relative to the category.

Rankings are refreshed as new data becomes available. Like any ranking, ours is a starting point rather than a verdict: the right product for you depends on your specific use case, budget, and existing tech stack, and we encourage buyers to read individual reviews and trial products before committing.

4. How the site makes money

Findstack is bootstrapped and independent. It is funded primarily through affiliate commissions: when you click certain links on the site and subsequently purchase, subscribe, or sign up for a product, we may earn a commission from the vendor at no additional cost to you. Some vendors also participate in our Deals section through sponsored placements, which are labeled as such.

Commercial relationships do not determine whether a product is listed on Findstack, its rating, or its position in a category ranking. Products without an affiliate program are reviewed and ranked alongside products that do have one. See our full disclosure policy for details on every revenue source.

5. Editorial approach

Long‑form articles, category guides, and glossary entries on Findstack are written by named contributors and the founder. We credit every post to a specific author and link to an author page so readers can see what else that person has written.

We do not publish ghost‑written vendor content, press‑release rewrites, or articles produced by undisclosed AI. Where a contributor has a prior commercial relationship with a product they are writing about, that relationship is disclosed on the page.

6. Data freshness

Software pricing, features, and company information change frequently. We verify product data on a rolling basis and each product page displays a "last verified" date so you can see how recent the underlying information is. If you notice information that is out of date, please let us know and we will investigate.

7. Corrections and feedback

If you believe a product listing, rating, or comparison is inaccurate, please contact us. We take every correction request seriously and publish updates when errors are confirmed. Vendors can claim their listing to keep product information current at /get-listed.

8. What this methodology does not cover

For transparency: Findstack does not independently verify each reviewer's identity the way larger platforms such as G2 or TrustRadius do. We rely on the verification processes of the platforms we aggregate from, and we moderate first‑party reviews before publication. We do not conduct hands‑on product testing of every listing; where we publish a first‑party expert review of a product, it is clearly labeled as such.
