Ability to store documents without alteration within the notebook. I appreciate being able to keep PDF documents with the notes about the PDF documents.

A lot. Originally I used evernote because I was able to add a note with a new idea prior to losing my train of thought. Evernote has become such a mess that is no longer the case. For instance, Evernote interrupts me repeatedly. I have been asked to "try out work chat!" many, many times. Even though I have disabled notifications, work chat and anything else I could find that distracts me from taking notes. I even have a paid subscription. Which I thought would save me from Evernotes interruptions. Nope. I am unable to build hierarchies of notes with a note existing in multiple places in the hierarchy. Evernote insists an idea must be isolated to either the top level or under a single folder. No further organization is allowed. The other option is to use tags. Which are also weirdly limited.

I no longer realize any benefits from Evernote.

It's nice to be able to share a link and give the link to someone without them having an account. We share links from one of our web apps, and it's easy to just put up a shared link.

I strongly dislike the web interface. It's like they tried to make it too simple, but I don't know what the buttons mean because there's no text. I can't figure out how to do what I need to do.

Trying to share documentation in our organization.

Most of all Evernote is free and you can't really complain about stuff that is free. Also Evernote has a couple of trial options for the paid version so overall it's very user friendly. Document management is also easy with Evernote.

I found that I actually hardly use Evernote. You can store presentations, lists, photos, really all sorts of stuff. When I signed up I found that after a month I hardly used it.

Storing documents in the cloud and arranging the documents is very easy with Evernote. And as said I tried it out for free so really no complaints.

Per my title, there's not a lot I can recommend about Evernote in comparison to my real-time, hands on experience with Catch and Springpad. But, I DO like the powerful CLOUD support for Evernote and the fact its part of the massive Microsoft ecosystem.

The UX and UI is consistent with the weak design aesthetic(s) we've come to expect from Microsoft products. Lets face it: you're gonna by a Ford or a Porsche. Use Evernote and you've got a nice jalopy that will get you there in one piece ...

As you all know, both Catch and Springpad have gone away. I've no insider info on (why) but, I'm sure, as seed funded startup, it was only a matter of their burn rate, predicating their ultimate dissolution. The CLOUD and transferable data between your devices is the clear benefit, however.

I've enjoyed using the Evernote free service for over 10 years to track all manner of notes across a couple of devices. The android app has been relatively easy to use and bug free up until 2023.

In Dec 2023, Evernote silently introduced a requirement that any user who has >50 notes now needs to subscribe to their paid service or you lose the ability to add new notes or new notebooks. While I still have access to existing notes, Evernote has effectively created a Ransom situation virtually overnight. I've used the app multiple times a week for over 10 years and am appalled that there was no warning or heads up leading up to this change. Furthermore, if a user doesn't have the paid version, Evernote has ramped up their ad campaign which now shoves a "limited time only" campaign down your throat 2-3x during each session. If you wanted to shift your business model the least you could have done is provided a little heads up to help ease the transition to either paid, or a different service. I will forever associate "Evernote" with the words: cheap and classless. **Evernote admins may attempt to do damange control and comment on my review, but I 100% assure you they did not notify users of the pending change. This should be standard practice; Google and Microsoft have no problem giving users months of advanced notice depending on the app or service involved.

Keeping notes

It's a saas solution that can be used across multiple devices.

Their billing. I hadn't realised that I was being charged annually until this year when the amount doubled. They had been charging an expired credit card for the past 3 or so years and the account hadn't been accessed since 2017. They kindly refunded the charges for this year which was appreciated, but not for any other years. I get it - that's on me, but to continue charging an expired card exposes issues with their billing system that should be addessed. Because of this I can't recommend their solution to others.

They didn't really solve a problem for me which is why I stopped using it when I moved on from a company that I needed it for.

It's nice to have a platform with which I can access my notes from any device.

As a fan and long-time subscriber of Evernote I wanted to let possible future customers to know that billing is a mess when it comes to taking care of customers like me. I've been a plus subscriber for going on 12 years. But recently I was told my credit card was not working. When I updated the card and was told congratulations on your payment, I noticed I was now getting the device limitation warning. When I reached out to support they then responded that they couldn't find me in their system. This has now been going on for about 2 years. I just thought that for someone like me, wouldn't it be prudent just to let me have a live chat or call from someone...rather than have to wait days for an email response that seems to never come? I'm currently looking for alternatives and how to migrate my data to other platforms. But I realized why am I having to do this? This is evernotes fault. Why can't they do the simplest task and take my money at the rate promised 12 years ago? I wish they could put this to rest and save my faith in basic customer service.

I can't continue to use Evernote at this stage because I am being treated like I have the free version. And there are too many limitations with that version.

The actual app and software is great - it's powerful - it's fast and efficient.

Evernotes continues to squeeze out their free users with restrictions. Originally they had paid upgrades for features - but you could access your app on your phone, ipad, laptop, home computer, and work computer. Then they restricted it so you could only have the app installed on a couple computers and you had to use the web browser (which had a sucky UI/UX). Then they restricted it even more to where I can't even just use it easily on more than a couple devices.

Taking and storing notes - organizing thoughts.

In Aug 2009 I had a fellow front-end developer and designer show me Evernote. A place to store everything with a smaller suite of apps that could help me communicate, document, and consolidate a mess of tools and workspaces into one focused space. I also loved the fact that I could access my Evernote from my phone. Take down a quick note, make a to-do, get home and pick back up. It was really great.

The core service, the actual feature set, and the stability of Evernote have only seemed to get worse. I mean we're talking a decade has gone by and we have not seen new features. And by new, I mean Evernote is not innovating and creating novel ways to be more efficient and productive. Let's forget "novel" they are not creating standard and stable ways for me to be more efficient and productive with their software. The novelty of what they had going for them of multiple apps working together to get stuff done is just the norm now. It's not a differentiator. Having an eco-system to foster productivity is table stakes at this point. When Evernote was the only one really doing what they do, it was great. However, with applications like Notion whose value proposition actually meets the expectations I have... why would I want to deal with Evernote constantly trying to upgrade me, market to me, and generally tell me I'm worth more to them if I pay more. I was on the pro subscription, I had the Evernote Moleskine notebooks, I have an archive on my shelf. I would digitally scan my hand written notes into Evernote and catalog them. EN helped me build a workflow that I paid for monthly, quarterly, and annually for various materials and add-ons. I still got upsold, I still got the marketing materials. And despite the $200/yr I gave their ecosystem, they couldn't keep it together. I lost the ability to use the smart notebooks they sold me when they discontinued the service. I understand business is business and if I was in the minority of the "power users" then fine. But this is an anecdote of one occurrence. Look into the company. Look into their "100 year roadmap" or whatever they were hustling. They are a flaky business and they will not serve you as the customer. They will break (I said break, not change, adjust, or iterate - break) the UI on you, there will be more data breaches, and there will be more turning off and turning on products and weak features. Evernote has lost the plot of what they originally set out to be and is going for the cash. At least that's my read, from an ex fanboy.

As a front-end developer, visual designer, and motion graphic artist, I used to take notes, diagram, write docs, run lists, set reminders, and generally try and capture everything I could audio and visual into Evernote. I used it so much so quickly that I quickly ran out of space and had to upgrade my account to get the extra storage features. However that all ended in 2015 and I use Field Notes and Notion now. Evernote does not solve any problems, and its feature set is no longer compelling in a modern workflow in the year of 2021. Evernote was a beast in 2009-2015 however all of their competitors have leap-frogged them. I do not realize benefits from Evernote any longer.

Nevernote allows you to quickly and easily lose all of your work, freezes up in the middle of a project, and can not find anything you search for. It also gives you the ability to create and save documents ts that are then irretrievable.

Nevernote's Version 10 is a catastrophic blow to the brand. I own a small business. Everything is run on Android. I organized my workflow around Evernote (10+ years in my case). Then, during the COVID lockdown, Nevernote destroyed my ability to function. Nevernote's decision to force-feed a Pre-Alpha version of the 'new and improved' software ground everything to a halt. For 14 months (!), it has been a debacle greater than Microsoft and Google's bright ideas combined. If you are using Nevernote, please migrate to a different system. If you are not using Nevernote, don't start. What the company did to small businesses is unconscionable. Please don't send them the message that this behavior is OK.

The problems being solved are problems caused by Nevernote. Go to Play Store and read the reviews that are from the last 14 months. Those are the ones applicable today. The 4.7 rating comes from the thousands of glowing reviews prior to V10.

You can write things. There is nothing redeeming past this.

This product has horrible bugs that absolutely shocks me. How could this be made by a significant and long standing tech company. Some of the current bugs include: - Weird formatting issues - You must turn off bold on the line above to be able to not have bolded writing on the line below - No shortcuts for bullet points massively slowing work - When you tab bullet points to also tabs your positive relative to the bullet point, but does this only 50% of the time which makes no sense - Slow performance of very good computers for Chrome client And hundreds of other small things that make absolutely no sense. Use Onenote, the benefits of being able to have this on any browers are not worth it.

Basic notes.

The convenience of having notes synced on my phone & laptop, and being able to access them over the web. That being said, there's a ton of much better apps out there that have this same functionality.

Goes down somewhat frequently. Very limited with font options. Unless you pay for premier, you can't contact support or access note history which can be a pain.

The interface, not really attracting or eye-candy. It looks really old-school. I would prefer using Google Docs or Apple Notes to do my notes instead of using EverNote. The concept was cool at first but then it was really useless after.

Evernote is simple to use and a great way to stay organized. I have used it for work and for personal items. The search functionality and ability to add text, images or even snips of webpages is really nice. It was nice to have a centralized place to store things and share the notes with others. In the past, you could use this on multiple devices for free.

Evernote used to be free to use on multiple devices. Now you are limited as to how many different places you use Evernote. This is a huge problem for me, as I have multiple devices both at home and work. I am also unwilling to pay because there are other free options out there. I would be in favor of an ad-supported option to keep from paying. I actually transitioned over to Asana for work and Google Keep for personal items. I still use Evernote to get old notes out though.

In the past, Evernote was a way for me to keep track of items that I need to do and provided a way for me to jot things down. We have sites all around the world, so I would use an Evernote note for each site to keep organized on what items I would need to complete the next time I visited that location.

OH MY GOD THIS IS SO FREAKING SLOW - I want to make a quick note - it takes me about 20 minutes - it takes my whole day just to make one quick note - utter nonsense!

No one really. I used it for a year or two, but I stopped.

It's easy to create notes when you are in a time crunch. Other than that, I don't like much about it. It needs a lot of improvement.

It's a great way for team members to have quick notes all in one place. Other than that, not much. I prefer Google Drive.

Love the function, feel and UI. Really like the tree structure and the nested notebook capabilities.

I was using it to run projects, track scripts (AD, PowerShell, SQL), Daily and weekly to do lists. Both professional and personal development and tracking.

Loved the interface and text editor, note organization was effective and well done.

NO OFFLINE EDITING. Really?? Delayed syncing is so basic and needed that it blew my mind it wasn't a part of Evernote. More than once I had to re-sign in because of a change or modification to the service. Extremely frustrating to write something and then not be able to access it later because you weren't connected to the internet. Advertisements, hey "buy our custom backpacks and goods" were also frustrating. I need notes to be like a notebook. Just there, fast, easy to read, and easy to edit.

I was solving synced notetaking with team members, and enjoyed the shared notebook functionality, but the sync errors and duplicated files were less than ideal, so google docs has taken it's place. You can't beat real time editing.

I've been using Asana for years. Then I tried evernote. in first 30 min I dropped my account and got back to Asana. In evernote we liked that is kind of popular and many people around us were promoting it. However we had a way better experience with Asana in the past, and Evernote was under our needs.

You can't find easily anything. In order to add new items you need to click a tons of buttons and buggy UI, unlike in Asana where you type and presss enter. In evernote you need to manually press New Note button, type, click on the title, type, make sure the title is not empty as you will get an ugly popup, click on description. All of those nasty buttons are visible, even though you don't need them such as font size etc.

Software development industry It didn't help us at all. We rolled back to Asana as it is a much better product. I am not related with Asana in any ways. We pay for their subscription but it really heps us a lot. We would paid for Evernote too, but it just doesn't make any sense to us. Perhaps for other who are first timers to these kind of tools are good enough.
