Unclaimed: Are are working at Toggl Track ?
toggl is very useful for personal and also business-related time-tracking. The free version packs a punch and offers excellent value. I really like that it has a mobile app also, which allows for never missing any activity. The features are diverse and can be customized to fit your needs.
Since the UI redesign, the colour theme is very ugly, a lot of people have complained about this online. I have emailed support a few times about it but unfortunately they believe the UI is nice the way it is - can't argue about taste I guess.
It helps monitor in a very granular way where time is spent, both for personal and work projects, and thus helps manage the most valuable asset we all have better = our time.
The best part about Toggl Track is the accurate, project-based time tracking and the actionable insights you can get from them. It has directly impacted the decisions we make on which projects to take on. It’s also helped us win bigger deals. Track can do basic billable hours tracking, but for us, the strength lies in the ability to go beyond that. You can track hours against clients, projects, and tasks. You can track against a fixed budget and against recurring client retainers. This level of detail is key for us when we put together complex pricing packages for clients. We’re not only confident that we’re quoting a price that won’t involve us losing money, but the granularity we provide also gives the clients confidence that we know what we’re talking about.
It’s been 5 years, and we’re happy so far.
One of the biggest challenges for any growing agency is sustainable growth. We’re getting profitable projects and big clients, but we also want to avoid team burnout, and we want to maintain the same level of quality. Track helps us manage our resources efficiently with accurate measurement. For example, we don’t just say we’re busy. We measure how utilized we are and whether we should look into another tool, make a staffing decision, or move resources around. The data-driven approach fits our conversion-focused marketing, and the results speak for themselves: we grow 20-40% a year, YOY.
Toggl Track is so easy to use, and it has every feature I could possibly want to ensure I'm accounting for and billing for every bit of my time appropriately.
This is not a hardship at all -- just an inconvenience: sometimes, i accidentally leave the timer on even after I've completed some billable work. When I need to go back and edit the project's finish time, I can't just modify the finish time in Toggl. (E.g., if I turned off the timer at 2:45 p.m. but I should have turned off the timer at 2:10 p.m.). Instead, I have to modify the total length of the project in order to have the timer re-set to the correct end time. In this example, I'd have to calculate that i wanted to deduct 35 minutes from the project length. This requires me to do a lot more math than I wish I had to. It's easier for me to remember what time I actually finished the project than to think of how many minutes I spent on it.
For those projects that charge clients in time increments, Toggl Track lets me set up different rates and increments for each client, so the billing matches my contract automatically. It even lets me choose whether my time gets rounded up to any increment I choose. In short, I capture every single minute I'm able to get paid for -- easily. When I charge by the project instead of by the time, Toggl Track lets me know internally how much time I spend on the project, so i'm better able to estimate and price future projects.
That I can pull reports of all activities for each client
Sometimes I have to do some clean up if I stop and start within a short amount of time but otherwise, it is so easy to use, this is a user issue that doesn't take long to resolve.
I charge my clients by the minute. I don't round up or down so precision is important. My clients appreciate they are being charged for actual time worked and not some random estimate of time.
Cloud-based tracking from your phone and computer is super convenient and one of the best features of this service!
The limits on team members on the free version but you can always pay to get more. It is a business expense! :)
Being able to track my time in REALTIME is a huge hurdle especially for project management when switching back and forth between different jobs. This is amazing and helps make invoicing SO EASY!
I find it really easy to track hours on different projects. It makes it simple for me to download project hours to send to clients and it makes invoicing easy with a detailed minute-to-minute tracking.
There is nothing that I dislike about the program.
I am ensuring that my clients know the tasks and hours that are being worked on per project. It allows me to show my value to my clients by outlining the details of the projects that I execute.
I have a business where sometimes I need to track time manually, and I don't need a vast robust program for the same. Toggl is a straightforward, intuitive application that handles the one specific task I need.
Not much, It does everything exactly as I would expect and hope.
Without spending a huge monthly cost on a program to handle time tracking, Toggl is a barebones solution for my problem of time tracking.
It's easy to track time. What I like most is the ability to generate great reports and share it with our clients.
The default interface for adding entries is a timer. Most of our work happens offline and we always do manual entry. But this is no big deal. The pricing per user is a little expensive for a smaller company.
Time tracking and reporting on multiple projects. It's intuitive and easy to use. Allows unlimited projects to be tracked.
