Very easy to use and great for building a portfolio of work, you can personalize your page with the video positioning and categorize them into folders which helps future clients find videos easier. I particularly like the simplicity of sharing the video with clients via private links rather than file sharing.
I can't find many negatives for Vimeo, and overall my experience has been a positive one. The only thing that comes to mind is that repositioning the videos can take a while when you're doing it in bulk. We had to unpin each video individually, we tried to google a quicker/easier option but couldn't find anything; that's not to say it could be a user error.
Easy to showcase and share videos with prospects and clients. Creating an engaging page of our content, increasing brand awareness and organizing them based on style or industry for convenient watching.
Vimeo's versatility is what makes it one of the best video solutions for filmmakers. It offers private links, password links, the ability to screen record which is great if you are needing to make a proof of concept teaser, has decent editing functions (although limited) and integrates well with websites.
My only real complaint is when trying to use Vimeo as a streaming platform service, especially when working with partnering venues. You have to upload your film for each particular screening event. Personally, it would make life a lot easier if you can use the same video link but change your screening options (ticketed, free, expiration dates, discount codes, offer donation or choose your own ticket price) for each event and give its own unique link.
sharing videos privately mostly. I'd love to use it as a public program option, and have, but its very limited in that arena. However, the options for keeping the links private is useful.
We currently use Vimeo for videos that target our customers for training. We like that with Vimeo there are no ads and users aren't encouraged to leave our company page.
There isn't much I dislike about Vimeo. I think certain advanced features aren't as user-friendly as I would have liked. I was trying to use Vimeo for onboarding content and new employee training. Our IT team didn't like that I had to create a single password to share company-wide and it wasn't connected to SSO. For that reason, I was asked to move the video content to MS Stream which is a much less robust platform.
- Hosting video content around our product and industry to train and educate our customer base - Allowing us to create dedicated channels based on topics of interest - Ensuring users stay within our company's channel
Ease of use, templates, short videos, trade show customization, software feature highlight videos, onboarding
Could have more templates or different pricing for customization by video vs. montly commit since we have them once in a while
Short, quick video edits for trade shows with custom images
I love all of the options you get with Vimeo. Not just video hosting for your website or social media, but their livestream platform is the highest quality and gives you the most options. Their Livestream studio software is like having a remote studio truck running on your computer. Live events that use to take a team of 5 people can be done with one person and a computer. Their subscription and VOD options are also so easy to use to let anyone sell their video content direct to viewers.
I wish they would release more livestream features. The Livestream studio software has been on version 6 for many years. They also could do more with the client-side of livestreaming like breakout rooms, and a registration system. Their current live event management system is a little pricey and doesn't have all of the robust features you would like.
We can do live stream all employee meetings to our 2,000 global employes easily and make the production quality so high with the livestream studio software. The livestream studio software also allows you to bring in remote guests. This makes doing live events with talent in and outside of our studio seamless. The software also have video playback and GFX. We also host all of the videos for our website on Vimeo since you can control so much about the player. We love being able to push videos directly from Vimeo to our social media channels as well. It makes using the platform easy, seamless and robust.
The organization features for the videos! The ability to group videos together and make them easy to find with the folder structure is what some other video platforms lack.
There can be some fairly frequent outages that are frustrating especially as we use this for business. And they aren't always resolved quickly and there is typically nothing you can do about it as the user.
We solved storage and organization issues. Now we can easily find videos no matter how old they are. We have benefited from the constant advancements and new features that Vimeo is constantly adding to the platform.
Vimeo is one of the best video cms platform I have ever used , great community around videos , good video editing options available , the analytics feature works like a charm ,our team found analytics feature really useful apart from that any video upload and download speed is really good.
There is nothing to dislike but free version of vimeo should have atleast 10GB of limit , paid plans seems little expensive here in india , also the feed personalization I haven't got better recommendation on my feed.
We are looking for a platform to upload, manage, perform analytics on videos and vimeo seems like good option for that ! Video upload and download speed is amazingly fast.
I like that Vimeo allows us to host and share videos in a package that looks a little more professional than YouTube without as many social and discoverability features that could be potentially distracting to students in an educational context.
The new interface for editing videos is needlessly more complicated than the old one. It essentially just adds additional layers of pages that you must click through to access the old interface, which is still necessary for most critical administrative functions.
There are times when we need to share video content with staff, students, or faculty outside of our LMS or external parties that don't have access to our LMS. We have also realized that Vimeo is a valuable platform for live streaming.
The video quality is very high on Vimeo. Everything is usually crystal clear as long as the original footage was shot well. There is a big community of creators within Vimeo that are more professional and/or art-minded compared to general audience platforms like YouTube. It has remarkable tools for video management. I also like the socialization aspects of Vimeo that allow us to connect with other users directly.
They limit the amount of storage space we get on Vimeo. The paid option is great, but I don't like that my files might get deleted if I forget to make a payment to them.
We can show our videos on websites and directly through Vimeo that are high quality and can load quickly with most users. We can upload big videos fast. We can also use Vimeo to store and access many video files online. It allows us to save local storage space. This enhanced management ability is more optimized for video than our existing digtal asset management platforms. It's also more capable of embedding and other quick-launch capabilities.
Vimeo still feels more premium than other video hosting platforms and the lack of advertisements within videos (like on YouTube) is huge. I work in Squarespace and I'm glad Vimeo links can be embedded there
More affordable subscription options would be nice for those who aren't power users but need more than the basic plan. A $10/month plan or similar would be ideal
I used Vimeo most in my commercial video business for hosting finished work, but I also recommend it to my Squarespace clients as the platform to host their website videos on
