The clean UI of the dashboard, easy setup.
Getting charged for making simple operations on an index.
In the past projects, I have used it to search questions in the android learning app for students. In the future, I am willing to add searching for tasks using keywords on our work marketplace.
Simple API, which is quick and easy to pick up. Adding items to Indices and is instantly available for search. Having the ability to update single values in the object allows for quick safer updates. Support staff are friendly and knowledgeable, which is always a bonus. The API has a very powerful query language which makes it much simplier to build up the right results which are relevant to the area which I am trying to get the user to focus. Being able to see what users have searched for is a big plus area for us. We can use this data to better refine our data and see areas which our supporters are showing interest in. This in turn helps improve user engagement.
When making changes in the dashboard, it is possible to update based on a previous version of the object. You need to ensure manually that the object is at the latest version before editing. While this has caught me out a couple of times overall, there is not much to dislike about the service.
I needed to add search to an in-house donation platform, plus give aggregated data to the user quickly and efficiently. As I built up the platform's integration to Algolia, the benefits became more and more evident. Since the first implementation, we are now looking at expaning the usage to our main website and importing our articles for searching and generating results for related content. We have been able to identify that by using Algolias machine language learning on our data will vastly improve site visitor engagement.
Algolia handles all the indexing of products in real-time, removing a potential server load item that can negatively impact performance.
A Woocommerce extension used to be available in the past but has stopped development. It would be great to have this extension available again to make the build process quicker and easier for any users who may be non-developers.
Faster website performance, and massively improved search functionality, including ajax real-time search results and typo handling. Advanced filtering for ignoring specific pages you want excluded from the search index is also an excellent feature. Offloading of the indexing of data with a fairly hands-off approach is acheiveable once setup correctly.
Search results on the website can be optimised for customers; we can see search results and curate products accordingly. Can update ranking and also see most viewed products. Once enabled facets can also be enabled and disabled from the Algolia panel itself. Also all the documentation for the initial setup was very clear and easy to understand. We have no trouble understanding the API documentation and the support from the team was also very good in cases when we had doubts.
The initial integration is a little tricky, needs good development support for integration into the existing website. But overall not a challenge; the website is currently running smoothly. Adding and removing facets is not very straightforward as we need an extra step to remove them. Another suggestion is to provide more reports and data, which we can further use to help with conversions. The current dashboard is also a bit cluttered. For developers, it is okay, for an end-user like a E-Commerce Manager, access to dashboards which can show straight-forward buttons and also reports which show insights can be of much help as they can then use the same data for making business decisions.
Search results used to be a mess before Algolia; now, it's very optimized for the customer; we have a much deeper understanding of the customer data and can curate products for them in search. Better search results for the customers lead to better product visibility that the customers want and better conversion rates. We are only into 40 days of use of Algolia on the current website; already we see good conversion rates, we will be able to tell more in the coming months on the same
Algolia is undoubtedly blazing fast and allows for fine-tuning and many customizations. Getting started is simple, and thanks to their well-written documentation, the learning curve is relatively shallow. We also appreciated their "Inside the Algolia Engine" engineering blog series, which helped me grasp some more information about how they can do what they do and why some limitations exist.
We have had an hard time working around the records length limitation. We do understand and share the opionion of Algolia engineers that indexing very long documents would worsen the relevance at search time. However, some use cases require them and we think users should be allowed - at their own risk and cost - to index long documents. For example, we found faceted search very limited when documents are splitted, and this prevented us from implementing few requirements.
We are implementing instant search on a newspaper-like service. Algolia helped us creating a great user experience, mainly thanks to its Vue components. Our most important requirements were typo tolerance and faceted search. Typo tolerance is excellent.
Extremely fast - the results come in with a minimal latency after searching thousands of records. For small projects, this is ideal to use as data storage. The Free tier is very generous.
Lack of data export from UI (although very quickly done via code).
Seamless integration with existing tools. I can import searchable data from other data sources via simple SDK. I loved that I spent very little time learning the SDK and instead focused on my requirements only. The management UI is fantastic! Everything just works, very smoothly and responsivley.
The search experience is amazing.. no crash related to that.. the weekly insights
The pricing to be honnest.. being billed to the greatest number between search requests and records is a little bit too much.. we use algolia to search users by name.. we aim for millions of users so the price keeps scaling
Because we use firebase.. which doesn't support full text search algolia has helped by allowing typo tolerance.. case insensitivity..
I'm using Algolia to index my blog post (both Hebrew and English) I was amazed at how quickly everything word, starting from indexing to on-site integration. The search results are quick, relevant, and support many types of Typos Easy to seperate between indices Analytics and query reports are really useful.
Pricing could be a bit heavy for non-professional users. If you need to cross to the more advanced payments tiers, it could get quite expensive.
quick search, typo correction, no-code and no-infra solution for search. Wordpress default search is quite bad and doesn't support any form of modern search. I wanted a solution with no additional infra costs, and without setting up my own Elasticsearch cluster. Algolia solved it perfectly.
Algolia is by far the best service for searching. Super easy to configure and use.
The new price policy i think is much more expensive. I preffer the legacy.
We use Algolia to index our products and serve the best search experience for our customers.
The libraries and SDKs are awesome. It's wonderful to use. The free tier is generous. Documentation is terrific.
The indices are too tied to the organization, but it's easy to work around.
I used it for fast search for a open source documentation site.
