Carta is easy to adopt and user-friendly. I appreciate the simplicity of the vesting schedule and the exercise simulator that allows me to make the right decision on exercise timing.
1. It supports only US regulation. For startup setup in Cayman, Carta cannot issue shares. 2. The shareholders' emails are shown in the captable by default and cannot be removed.
Manage the ESOP easily, with 24/7 access to captable, 409A form and vesting schedlue.
It is simple to configure, use and export reports from. Overall, it has been a tremendous and seamless experience working with Carta and using their software for over two years.
Sometimes, a few queries don't get resolved from the Help menu, and it takes time to get the correct response from the support team. Further, given that our team is in India and Carta's team is only on the west coast, it sometimes becomes challenging to find common time slots.
It is helping us in record keeping of all ESOP grants and communicating with all ESOP holders. Without Carta, this would have to be managed through spreadsheets, which may lead to errors.
I love the one-stop-shop for equity on Carta. I can see all my options inclusive of contracts, vesting information, and purchase simulators.
Minor UX items on the exercise simulator. Honestly, they are just finesse items.
Easy place to manage options that you have.
I appreciate the simplicity of the vesting schedule and the exercise simulator that allows me to make the right decision on exercise timing. I also appreciate the milestone emails with confetti. It makes me even more excited to be part of my company and contribute to its long-term growth.
I wish more manager reporting were available for my team, whereby I understand if anyone was granted equity. For example, I would get a notification if he/she/they didn't accept the grant, or I could see my team's equity distribution. I can only see and manage information for myself.
Carta supports transparency on my personal equity vesting schedule and its value.
My favorite is getting emails from Carta that my stocks have vested. They always make my day! Before my company used Carta, I didn't think much about equity as part of my total compensation. Carta is great for visual learners.
I haven't fully explored the projections of what stock could be worth, so I can't really speak to that part. I would also like to know what access to Carta may look like when you leave your company, when decisions about stockpurchases need to be made.
Carta helps me understand how much of my stock has vested and my overall possible stock over a set timeline.
Carta's user experience is excellent. I have multiple accounts and have never in 6 years needed to reach out to support or had any issues.
I have not had any issues using the platform.
Keeping equity simple, easily accessible and trackable.
We've been a carta customer for years and, most recently, wanted to lean on Carta to help us understand expense accounting for options grants. The team assessed our needs and provided scalable recommendations that allow us to shed manual worksheets!
The integrations with Gusto isn't perfect and still requires me to double check.
Cap table management and employee stock options grants.
Consolidation on the platform. Ease of use and sensitivity analysis capabilities.
The onboarding was not as intuitive as I was expecting. The help from the Carta team made all the difference
I now don't have to manage our cap table via excel.
Carta is the best equity management platform I've used through an employer. The design is simple and intuitive, which is much appreciated when dealing with complex topics like equity. There's a high-touch feel to the digital experience on both the web front and app (I loved the confetti when I accepted a grant offer). Finding explanations/further resources to understand better what I was consenting to through each step was extremely helpful. I also love how easy it is to see your information on demand.
I don't have a lot of critical feedback at this point, but I think one potentially great feature they might consider is gathering a baseline for new users via a questionnaire. For those new to equity, Carta could first direct them to several intro videos/reading material to set them up for success. Those who indicate they're more experienced might get to bypass some of those things, etc.
Carta is solving easy equity management. There's so much gatekeeping around finances in general, so having a very user friendly platform to manage, learn and engage with equity is empowering.
Cap table management and issuing options is very easy. The reporting makes audit, tax and other types of requests very easy to pull, review and send a breeze.
When dealing with complex issues (complex exercises, stock compensation expense, pourovers, etc.), there can be a bit of a learning curve, and sometimes support isn't always the most helpful. It may take a few iterations to get it correct, or it may take some manual manipulation of reports to make sure things are right.
Cap table management and issuing options took a lot of time. With Carta, it makes it very easy and efficient.
