It is super user friendly and simple to navigate
So far I just started so it's hard to say. Nothing yet!
Helped me accept and manage my unit grants and view documentation
Once you've learned the navigation, there are a lot of very useful tools to manage fundraising rounds, investors, and options.
Sometimes it can be challenging to work out where things are. However, the helpdesk is very useful and often as the answer described in an easy and concise way
Investor management, options management and fundraising support
Carta provides a seamless UX/UI and easily keeps track of your options, equity, etc. Beyond just the service it provides itself, Carta has amazing content and research to help answer any and all questions you may have about the difference between certain option types, strike vs. exercise price, etc.
Honestly, there isn't anything I don't like about Carta. Big picture, long-term - it might be cool if Carta also doubled as a marketplace to possibly buy/sell options & equity.
We're solving the problem of how to easily track and maintain equity and options that have accrued over time in one, clean place.
One stop shop for all my options even across companies
nothing specific - there was a phase where some companies I worked at didn't use Carta yet but no longer the case
Options documentation storage and distribution, signing etc.
Easiness to set up, to have allocation by employees, and timeline setting. Also, easiness to purchase them as they become available. Upon purchase, you get a nice eCertificate. Option to add beneficiary.
As of now nothing I can think of. So far looks good, good to see yearly evaluation. so to understand if there is any progress on those non-IPO stocks.
Logistics, eliminating all the paperwork and timely notice and execution.
Carta allows me to view all my stock options from the company I work for. Not only that, but the interface is so simple and easy to use. My favorite feature is the mobile app. It's super handy to have on my phone.
If I had to choose something I dislike about Carta, it would be that I hope there were more available resources that educate about stock options and finances in general. Not everyone is well-versed when it comes to this type of thing.
Carta allows us to view all our stock options and grants. Right in the mobile app, you can choose to exercise your options and view everything all in one place.
I like that Carta tells me what my benefits are, how long it will take to fully vets, and details exactly what I need to do to take advantage of my set strike price.
Not anything to dislike here about the software. My only challenge with using Carta was making sure I understood what my company's policy was with acquiring my vested shares.
Solving a problem of knowing exactly what my benefits are with my company and when I will be able to take advantage of those benefits and how/when to take advantage of them.
Carta was very easy to set up and then to use. We were live in 2 weeks, and the software is so intuitive that no training is even needed. My finance team immediately saved 10-15 hours a month from reconciling our excel cap table, and employees loved having more clarity on their equity holdings. The reporting is also straightforward so its always easy to review and fix if there were some issues.
Some deal modeling tools cost additional money, but I found these to be pretty useless. Also, the ASC718 calculations are not easy to use, but I am not sure there is any tool that does an excellent job of automating that.
We spent a lot of time reconciling our cap table in excel, and we still made errors. Carta eliminated those issues almost immediately.
User interface is easy to navigate & excel imports are easy to use.
I wish it offered more assistance and education to employees on stock options.
It's a big time saver and requires less involvement from an administrative perspective.
Easy to use as cap table manager. Love the free 409a.
Nothing. I think it is hard to figure out how to terminate employees.
Many, cap table management is easily.
Carta has been extremely simple to setup and use. Implementation Specialist walked me through the cap table and input form to ensure the information prepared would be easily uploaded onto their system without issue. I enjoy the fact that someone was available via phone or email and quickly responded to my questions as I was completing the data input sheet.
I wasn't too keen that additional features cost more money where I thought it would standard. Since we fundraise, we had expected to be able to run different fundraising scenarios on Carta to generate what the cap table would look like post fundraising. Pro forma reports were not part of the package purchased and thought this would be a basic report available.
Carta customer service team has been very responsive when I have questions and concerns. We had changed company name and my request was quickly addressed.
Ease of use. Able to provide legal counsel and auditors with login.
Incremental cost for certain features...
Saving time and effort. Ease of audit. Working with external partners. Reducing paperwork associated with equity grants and option exercises.
-It makes it incredibly easy to issue options and maintain our cap table -Our attorneys and investors are extremely familiar with it, which makes it simple and easy to use
There is nothing we dislike so far with the product.
-It saves us a ton of time when it comes to calculating anything regarding our cap table
Customer service is best in class. Responds super fast and always has the right answers.
Implementation took a little longer than expected.
Equity administration
Carta is a very tech-friendly and intuitive tool to use from both an administrative and end-user perspective, which has significantly helped our team in administering equity compensation. Additionally, the support team whether it's via a chat, email or phone-call has always been quick and efficient.
We haven't utilized the 3921 support due to the high pricing.
We are able to easily administer our equity compensation, quickly run cap tables, and ensure compliance through the expense accounting and 409a valuations.
The user interface is simple and easy, so managing our securities, cap table, etc. has been far less stressful than it otherwise would be.
The platform could use more inline user support -- e.g. tooltips, links to support or informational documentation. I am managing equity and cap table process for the first time, and extra information is helpful to be confident everything is accurate.
Carta has simplified an otherwise complicated and intricate set of processes and documents.
We've used Carta since the beginning for cap table management and can see a growing number of use cases coming down the pipe for us, as well. In short, the product is thoughtfully designed and handles the complexity of a cap table with ease and makes it all easier to understand.
Only downside so far would be cost - it can be a non-trivial expense in the very early days. Still probably pays itself off with attorney time likely being a lot less along the way.
Cap table management, fundraising scenario modeling, allowing stockholders to easily manage and understand their options, grants, and agreement documents in one place.
I really like the vesting schedule that is visible on Carta. It is clear, easy to understand and very detailed. I like that it breaks it down on a monthly basis to see how much you've vested already and you can also see what remains. The mobile app is great, as well! Works so well that I find that I rarely need to log onto the desktop version of Carta. Very well done with the app.
As states previously, I almost exclusively use the app and not the desktop version It has what I need, but it does seem kind of bare (almost too bare bones). But, I like the simplicity, so it's a trade-off, I suppose.
Previously, it was not easy to find out information on our vesting schedule. Carta has solved all of those issues and we are very happy with it.
As a new employee, it was difficult for me to understand my stock options. And I didn't want to have to wade through my offer letter and google every little term, or ask my boss to go into too much detail. Carta made this easy and explained my options very clearly.
No complaints from me. I'm not a "power user" but Carta solved all my problems.
Carta helps me track my stock options and keep my related documents organized.
I have found that everything is very intuitive and Carta always presents the appropriate amount of information. I also like that I can see investments from various companies easily
I do have multiple accounts (different email addresses) for other investments/companies and have to switch between them to see them. Although it hasn't been a significant problem, I wonder if there is a more user-friendly way to handle this problem.
Carta has provided a straightforward way of managing Cap table and employee stock options. It makes it so much easier than managing with a spreadsheet.
