"Useful, but needs improvement on instructing course leaders to manage their class for the medium"
What do you like best about Coursera?

I enjoy the diversity of courses. The exercises and tests are well managed.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

The courses tend to have very long videos, with little interaction. I would recommend forcing educators to adopt a strategy similar to ed-x or udacity.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

Personal education.

"Great courses to get you started but does not offer the depth "
What do you like best about Coursera?

The breadth of topics that are covered.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

Some topics lack the depth they need to be at. Also, there is a lot of inconsistency in the quality of lectures - some instructors do a good job navigating the level of details needed, given that not all students would have the same background whereas you would need prior knowledge with the subject to get through the course work and assignment.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

Since I have taken courses with which I have prior academic and professional background, I did not solve any new problems. What Coursera helped me with was getting me started on newer tools (e.g. open source technologies) that opened up possibilities for me to experiment with solving the problem in different ways.

"Plataforma para realizar cursos"
What do you like best about Coursera?

Poder realizar los cursos gratis, es decir, adquirir los conocimientos en el momento en que realmente lo necesitas, no importa si no posees el capital para realizarlo y luego pagar el certificado en el momento que puedas.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

En Coursera no hay gran variedad de cursos, y la mayoría son en inglés, eso limita mucho al usuario ya que no hay variedad de cursos y los cursos que pueden interesar al usuario se encuentran en inglés o en un idioma que él no maneja.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

Muchas personas del equipo se capacitaron con esta herramienta durante un tiempo.

"Coursera --a great resource for classes!"
What do you like best about Coursera?

The best thing about Coursera is the variety of courses they offer, and many of them are free of charge! I find it can encourage you to explore courses that you might not usually look into.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

Some of the courses are very short! Lots of work to do in a short amount of time. It would be nice to have less work spread out over more weeks.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

Learning new skills and trying new classes. I have realized the benefit of utilizing resources for free classes and access to education.

"A lot of options. Can be confusing"
What do you like best about Coursera?

I liked that Coursera offered a lot of options. It was pretty inexpensive for different certificates and degrees. I enjoyed being able to go at my own pace, which was beneficial for my schedule.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

I wouldn't say I like the number of options Coursera has. I do not feel the courses were explained well enough. Letting people know how long the system was for part of the certificate would also be helpful. I did not know that I was only receiving a certificate for just one part of a course. Too confusing.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

It would have solved my getting into the world of data analytics. Though they provided many benefits, they could not keep my attention. I know more about data analytics; however, it did not add much to my job aspects.

"Useful for Self-Motivated Learners"
What do you like best about Coursera?

I appreciated the inclusion of courses from well-respected universities and professors, which made me feel like i was getting more value than if it would have been from places I had never heard of, or even just by Coursera staff.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

I am not a huge fan of forums as the main form of communication between classmates. It did not create a sense of group-learning for me; it just felt like another task to check off the list. I would rather either be a completely independent learner or be engaged in meaningful learning with others beyond a requirement to post/respond a certain number of times.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

Coursera definitely solves a problem for self-motivated learners who are looking for an inexpensive option to engage in ongoing education or pick up specific skills. I learned I am not in that category. While using Coursera, I would watch the videos but not follow through on assignments, because I was more interested in the general knowledge for myself - as if I was reading a book. For truly engaged learning, I've found on-campus, classroom experiences to be best for me.

"Negative experience with support"
What do you like best about Coursera?

The Plus subscription could be an interesting option, if all courses and specializations were included

What do you dislike about Coursera?

I had a terrible experience with their customer support: this year I was charged for an amount substantially higher than expected for my Plus subscription, contrary to what they had written in a payment reminder of a couple of days ago. Asked for clarifications, they conceded a refund as a "one-time exception", as my payment appeared as "non refundable" in their website. A really annoying and unprofessional behavior, I would say...

"Poor support"
What do you like best about Coursera?

Many courses, low price. There is unique content. There are courses from Google. I hardly believe in the rest.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

Poor technical support. Instead of solving my problem with a paid subscription, they send me to the forum so that I can look for solutions myself. Today I came across bad templates where it is impossible to edit the fields I need, and I will not be able to pass the exam without them. I spent a lot of time re-creating these templates. The site was made in a hurry. Video titles are hard to read. Few languages. My opinion is that the service is designed to raise money, not the quality of education

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm trying to get certified as a UX designer to solidify my knowledge. I only use it because of the Google tag. This label will give an edge to your resume. The rest of the service is questionable

"Bad system and poor customer service"
What do you like best about Coursera?

The content of the courses are interesting and the videos are easy to follow.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

In some courses, every week ends with a quiz, an assignment that needs to be completed and you're also required to review your peers in the class. The problem is that usually, you end up doing the quiz and the assignment in one day, and then you're forced to wait days/weeks until someone else submits an assignment you can review. So even though you're finished with 95% of the course you're stuck waiting and not knowing when you'll be able to finish. In theory, I suppose you could wait months if nobody else takes the course. Meanwhile, Coursera continues to take your money.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

Getting access to online courses from quality education.

"Terrible Platform, Support, and a Mediocre Course"
What do you like best about Coursera?

I've known Coursera since 2013, and thought the idea of learning online with peer graded assignments was brilliant. Coursera continues to maintain a very user friendly platform with both web and mobile learning, and easy access to material.

What do you dislike about Coursera?

The course which is a specialization in SEO is completely outdated. They are using content from 2013, most of the tools displayed for measuring different aspects of technical SEO have changed or don't exist. Coursera is charging a monthly subscription way higher than any other online learning platform. There are few students to grade assignments, so grades take longer than expected to get back. Most of the times the feedback given by other students is absolutely terrible, and irrelevant to instructions. Seems like they didn't take the same course you did. Support is also bad, they have one standard way of doing things and are incapable of helping you in a particular case. At the end I did receive a course certification, which I am ashamed to even add to Linkedin, because although it may say "completed SEO specialization" it really means "wasted his/her time". I highly recommend to do better research on online courses and stay away from Coursera.

What problems is Coursera solving and how is that benefiting you?

I tried taking an SEO specialization to learn for my career, as I took an intro to Digital Marketing in College. I don't believe there were any benefits to taking this specialization or working with Coursera.
