"Portfolio is a key part of our business model"
What do you like best about Extensis?

Portfolio is easy to integrate with/ It's Artificial Intelligence Auto-tagging saves huge time and resource for our clients, adds consistency and ensures that users find the images they need regardless of how they search. The Extensis staff are great, responsive adn supportive. They have a similar ethos to After Digital and are very customer focused whilst remaining attentive partners.

What do you dislike about Extensis?

There is generally not much to dislike - this DAM does everything you need at a very good price. Not the cheapest but by no means the most expensive and for us the best value for your money.

What problems is Extensis solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Portfolio to offer our clients easy access to their digital assets. We use our own Connector to drive these assets into the front end CMS of the websites we build, creating beautifully designed, user-centered, mobile first sites but with the power of Portfolio to drive the content to the right page at the right time for the user to experience. Tye main issues our clients face is the accurate cataloguing and then retrieval of their digital assets.

"Extensis Portfolio Standalone"
What do you like best about Extensis?

Extensis Portfolio Standalone has been a great way to manage my thousands of images. I find keywording for multiple images easier to do in this program than on Adobe Bridge.

What do you dislike about Extensis?

The Portfolio Standalone is no longer supported by Extensis. Standalone users have to update to Extensis Server to continue being current and have access to tech support. The $2,000 price is a costly deterrent for upgrading. Extensis had made larger companies their target market and forsaken individual entrepreneurs. Other software for digital asset management are Adobe Lightroom and Photo Mechanic. Be aware that in Portfolio, sometimes the paths to files get broken and it takes a while to figure out how to reconnect them. This recently happened to me when I got a new hard drive and it had a different name than my previous hard drive. I had to change the name of the new hard drive to be the same as the previous one to re-establish the paths' connections.

What problems is Extensis solving and how is that benefiting you?

Extensis Portfolio allows me to have a directory of my images in one place. This is greatly helpful when looking for a particular image. The program also allows a person to have folders or collections of images (subsets from the directory) without using additional computer memory.

"Portfolio: Our on-premise DAM for the last 10 years"
What do you like best about Extensis?

Portfolio is a terrific mid-price DAM system that has many features of systems that cost three or four times as much. We like the ease of creating custom metadata templates, the ability to seamlessly and easily publish to the web and the ease of management.

What do you dislike about Extensis?

The admin console occasionally kicks back errors and we have seen some issues when upgrading from certain versions. Nothing major, minor annoyances, nothing more.

What problems is Extensis solving and how is that benefiting you?

The ability to centralize assets, dramatically decrease search times and customize searches has led to an increase in productivity and a shortening of work cycles. The ability to share selected assets with clients has also been a real benefit.

"Almost an Enterprise DAM at SMB prices. "
What do you like best about Extensis?

Our Photo Studio has been using Extensis Portfolio Server for almost 10 years now. We have watched it grow into a formidable value for those who cannot afford a six figure (or more) solution. We could not be happier with the product support we have received from Extensis and it has scaled with us as our number of assets has grown from hundreds of thousands into the millions.

What do you dislike about Extensis?

When they eliminated the desktop client I missed some of the user interface features as an Administrator, but the benefits of the web client for the users far outweighed those concerns.

What problems is Extensis solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before we had a DAM it would take days to find assets, now it takes minutes or even seconds. The efficiency boost in turning around photo requests cannot be understated.

"Extensis portfolio is a trustable platform to share digital assets with your team."
What do you like best about Extensis?

The main functions of Extensis Portfolio include Asset library, Customizable branding, Metadata Management, Reporting/ Analytics, File conversion, Search/ Filter, Workflow Management, Asset Sharing, Asset categorization and many more. By using Extensis Portfolio the user also gets a free trial which helps them evaluate if it works according to their needs or not.It is available for both Windows and Mac. It gives images in the form of PDF which is a professional way. Images can be found very easily with just few clicks. The software is works identically like windows and Mac. PDF download option makes the work easier. The support system is incredible as they are professional and respond to the questions right away and also provide a solution. The cost is very low as compared to its competitors.

What do you dislike about Extensis?

It is can be only installed and it is not web based so user gets hindered because they can only use it from their computer. Sometimes it is difficult to run on Mac as compared to on Windows. There needs to be advanced level of customization so it can fit according to our needs. If you are a beginner or a new worker it can be difficult to get used to the advanced features they have.

What problems is Extensis solving and how is that benefiting you?

Extensis Portfolio is overall an incredible tool which performs its functions in less amount of time with more productivity. For the basic functions it does its job efficiently and at a very low cost. It centralizes our assets and keeps them organized. High level functionality and it is a great investment. The GUI is incredible and it is easy to manage.

"Flexible, powerful and scalable"
What do you like best about Extensis?

The team are very proactive and supportive. The product itself offers massive capability off-the-shelf with even further potential once you start looking at integration and expansion. It can be a massively powerful tool for our clients.

What do you dislike about Extensis?

Nothing as of yet. We have only experienced good things with the solution to date, with our team adding value through customised development.

What problems is Extensis solving and how is that benefiting you?

We integrate Portfolio into our clients' websites and have found it to massively improve productivity around asset management, but also to increase the business' optimisation and usage of these assets. Through implementation of this solution clients have been able to realise new business streams, digitise large volumes of assets and better manage their brands.

"Easy to use, great for photography management"
What do you like best about Extensis?

Ease of use. Simplified look and feel. The solution has the basic core functionality that makes it great for managing large numbers of image assets, especially in a photography heavy environment. The newest features have enhanced the product to compete with other vendors in the space.

What do you dislike about Extensis?

The modular approach is great for companies looking to phase their approach to implementing a DAM. Some of the features would be better served as core to the product versus add-ons.

What problems is Extensis solving and how is that benefiting you?

Managing and trafficking large numbers of image assets to a fast paced production team. The mobile tools help to get approvals instantly. Creative approval used to take days and with instant access decisions and changes can be made quickly and streamlined to the appropriate teams in a timely manner.
