The simplicity of initiating a marketplace with Sharetribe is truly impressive. Not only is it easy to implement, but it also integrates seamlessly with various platforms. The platform provides clear, step-by-step instructions that make the setup process straightforward. The flexibility to modify and personalize the code to meet individual requirements is a significant advantage. Sharetribe also boasts a range of beneficial features that enhance user experience. What’s more, Sharetribe’s commitment to constant evolution and enhancement ensures users always have access to the best features. But what truly sets Sharetribe apart is their exceptional customer support team, always ready to assist when needed.
Despite its many strengths, Sharetribe does have some limitations, particularly with its API. These limitations often necessitate seeking external solutions, which can sometimes be costly. This aspect could certainly benefit from some improvement.

I asked them dozens of questions every day during the three weeks it took to build my marketplace, and they always responded efficiently and quickly. They guided me step by step and gave me plenty of advice to improve my platform. It's really refreshing to see a company like Sharetribe truly care about the success of its customers. After months of searching and trying out all the marketplace platforms available on the internet, I'm so happy to have finally found a serious one that's available for its customers and focused on building a trustworthy relationship with them. Honestly, I was on the fence when it was the Go product although I was still chatting with the team in Helsinki and learning to appreciate how supportive they were. When Flex was released, it was a no brainer. I was already hugely impressed by and confident in the team behind the product and, with Flex, Sharetribe delivered the look/feel we needed to launch a product that had to help us "build trust through design". Slam Dunk.
Obviously there are limitations to using any out of the box platform but imo Sharetribe are consistently adding new features and so my expectations are always surpassed based on the fact that we get to leverage a heavy hitting, well hosted, secure database technology for a monthly rental fee that has enabled us to do corporate deals at a global level.
We need a 'home' for the people in our community and we need our users to be able to filter and find their right-fit person easily. Sharetribe delivers that core functionality in spades.
Their platform is really good and well-structured and their team is really really helpful. Highly recommended!

It's a highly functional out-of-the-box two-sided marketplace that was incredibly easy to set up. We were able to get something up and running in a matter of days, rather than weeks or months. The customer service is also amazing.
If you're building a products based marketplace, the check-out process is a little bulky because there isn't a shopping cart/one click purchasing option, and the aesthetic could be a little cleaner (I don't like that the text sits on top of the product images) but the overall functionality gives us so much control over the sorting + filtering that we needed, that it was still worth it. We'll upgrade to ShareTribe Flex within a few months to add some of the customizations we're looking for.
We're solving the problem of a long, expensive road to an MVP for solid proof of concept. The main benefit we've realized is saving the $30k developers kept quoting us to get to a basic MVP marketplace that was still missing key functionalities that we're getting with sharetribe out of the box, or with some small customizations.
The product is excellent, considering how far you can go without a technical background. Should you graduate to going deeply technical, the opportunities are endless
The only negative and its not directly related to Sharetribe is that you have a lot of pretenders on UpWork claiming to be Sharetribe experts but clearly are not.

Their team! Very reactive and helpful. Always available for any kind of question. The tool is extremely easy to use and customize. Their GO version is the ideal tool for marketplaces MVPs while the Flex is the most cost effective solution to grow.
Having to find a good external developer for the Flex version.
