Autocad is one of the most popular 2D CAD software avaialbe to me. It is very much user-friendly. I have been using this software for the last six years. It is easy to use regardless of any industry. It has the best in the world's 2d environment. There is also lots of customization available to engineers. Auto cad alos have many environment for a different types of users. For drafter, it is very easy to change in drawing and dimensions. There is also pretty good shortcuts avialable for different command like TR for trim, it makes easier for edit and creates drawings. You can also customize your background according to your need. you cal also save as file in different formats to open in other softwares.
It is quite difficult to use when you need 3d drawings more often. It does not have quite good 3d command as compared to other 3d design software lie Solidworks and Creo. There is also a problem in opening files from a newer version to the older version. There is no provision for threads and other complex geometries.
We are using it for plant layout and drawing of other machine tools, gauges etc.
How fast, easy to use, direct to the point and powerful it is.
Too many options that does not mean a lot. Autodesk gives the user a lot of ways to do the same thing, and sometimes it is confusing.
Machine design
This tool is very fast and flexible for detail engineering for layouts and plotting
Working with xref files are bit slow, and some times it takes long time to load
Precision control in dimensioning is very useful for 3d modellers. Details design concepts, and for site execution dwg files are very useful. Flexible file formats with other softwares
It is a universally used drafting solution with functionality that carries over cleanly from version to version. Everything that I have learned on the platform over the last 20 years of my career still works seamlessly to this date. The files that it generates import cleanly to other drafting and visualization programs well because it is so ubiquitous.
I wish that it imported files in from other visualization and drafting platforms well. Instead those platforms have to export their files over into the dwg/dxf format to move into AutoCAD.
We use it to design and specify scenery for our theatrical productions. The biggest benefit is that it is available for free to students, making it an accessible teaching solution.
Integration between autocad and other engineering softwares, ability to develop your own and custimized plugins
Nothing as per my knowlege and believes however sometimes the software have presentation errors which can be fixed inside the software itself using Autogen command
Architectural, Civil and Structural drawings representation, Simple and essential calculations for irregulor engineering shapes and normal construction problems.
I like more the precision and accuracy that it has as a program which helps me to do in precision and the smallest details and the fact that it is free for students to learn and practice. I also like the way it enables adaptation to different formats and the conversions of the formats it makes
I would prefer to have a division into categories to afford the price and from professionals who do not use it every day. Its a little bit hard to get used add-ons i had some issues during initial installation and setup, but i fix . i found solution on autocad forum
Realize the work of sketches with precision of 3 d and 2d works, the company I work with deals with the design of houses and their interior and exterior works.
The ease of access and its ability to support designs makes it a great tool
The inability to link it to Microsoft excel or similar to export reports.
I have used it for my new project plans and how to stay in standards using this tool
*create 2d draft with shortcuts easily *Best custom size , color edit without any efforts *easily scale an pdf or image file and save your time for recreating it. *can easily save print into Pdf
*There is no options to select roughness symbol, which is major drawback. *Tolerances are little difficult to set as compare to other drafting cad.
*iam using autocad to draft variety of products which helps me out to do unlike other 3d cad drafting tools. * if you want to draft a part, Autocad is best tool for drafting. *graphic options helped me out for a laser cutting part to sort out which is bending line (magenta) to be marked and which has to be sliced out.
Auto CAD is a software which I have used for a long time, when I was studying it was the first drawing software I used and to date it seems to me one of the best design software. For me it is the best collaboration tool, being able to import and export data when designing parts for manufacturing.
I do not find anything negative, on the contrary it is a tool that I adore because it makes everything easier for me, it is much easier to work in this software than in a common sheet of paper.
Auto CAD is a software with a very complete interface and very easy to use, printing drawings is much easier, since I use it the main function is to design parts and I love it because we can easily adjust colors, layers, margins, I love it Its graphics because they have exceptional quality, I love the versatility of Auto CAD, it is much more spacious and it is much easier to design than other software, it is much simpler, personally I love it because it gives the opportunity to customize designs without losing standards of quality and design.
Auto CAD is an ally for my two-dimensional and three-dimensional designs, we have personally worked with drawings for the design of parts for manufacturing since the suppliers of said parts do not have them available and we have had to manufacture them, simply in Auto Cad we assemble the sheet of design, Auto CAD is very versatile from making plans and elevations. It is a very useful tool I have also used it to make landscape designs.
The only negative thing I can see is that for a beginner it is a very deep tool and it is not easy to learn, for those of us who have had previous use with other software we lose fear and enter the world of Auto CAD with everyone, I think they should have tutorial videos for its use and management, in addition to increasing the free trial month to 2 months for beginners that allows them to learn more about the Software.
Auto CAD is a powerful program and has been created with the best tools for the industry, it offers quality graphics that increase the creativity of any person, the way in which the characteristics can be manipulated for drawing designs is incredible, the important thing about learn to know all the features of Auto CAD for a good handling of the tool, so I recommend first without fear to click on all their tools that may be familiar with everything so that the designs are wonderful and with touches of professionalism.
AutoCAD makes drawing and revisions happen with the click of a button. There are many different ways of doing anything, and the capabilities are nearly endless. I've been using AutoCAD for 17 years and can't imagine being a designer without it. There are so many ways to customize and make it work for you.
It is a super complex program, and requires extensive training. You can't just watch a video and become proficient at it overnight. It actually needs to be a complex program in order to do everything it does, so it's not necessary a bad thing, but there are many things that even I don't know. Also its 3D functions are not as ideal as other softwares out there.
AutoCAD makes my designers much more efficient than they would be if using an inferior program, or having to draw by hand. AutoCAD also enables us to create standards to maintain the same level of quality across the organization, and allows us to keep excellent records.
What I like about AutoCAD, which is a software recognized internationally for its extensive editing capabilities at the level of plans, AutoCAD makes it possible to digitally draw building plans, infrastructures at the Telecommunications level, allows the recreation of 3D images, is one of the most used programs by architects, engineers, industrial designers among others, can be used by menus or can also be executed at the command level, AutoCAD provides application programming interfaces (API) that can be used to determine drawings and the databases, this tool has many functions that optimize the projection of a work under construction on a digital level.
What I do not like about AutoCAD is a very heavy software in Megabytes (MB) to install, when this tool generates a failure, the computer is totally inhibited and I have to restart it, the software installation takes a long time, you must have a computer with excellent technical specifications to be able to run this tool, especially at the video card level, this implies a costly investment for the company, AutoCAD has an endless number of commands that can be executed, some are very complex to use, for this reason the personnel of the company must receive an induction or carry out certifications to be able to exploit all the functions of AutoCAD, this also generates an economic investment to the company and they are very expensive course.
With this excellent tool, we have developed the human and professional talent of the company, thanks to this application the company has won tenders in the area of Infrastructure Telecommunications and Civil Construction, which has generated a monetary income to the company, I had the opportunity to develop my skills in digital drawing, I have learned to interpret plans in different stages of development, on the other hand, this tool has allowed us to solve design flaws in projects in the development phase in conjunction with different areas of engineering and professionals in its different specialties.
Best software i ever used till date, Just fell in love with this tool. So convenient in drawing and commamds are much easier
When it comes to modeling it fails terribly. That's something they can really focus on and develop
I use AutoCAD for drafting which being sent to our private manufacturing vendors. Drafting of various fixtures and parts are the usual work.
Easy and so user friendly interface, It allows us to learn all the basic commands like "Line creation, Point creation ETC." From its help windows itself. All the explanation is really helpful, Simply just press F1 key Coming to 3D modelling it's no difference, just as easy as drafting and well crafted interface. Everything is easy for a beginner to start with Decoding the technical drawing becomes easy as we try drafting ourself. An amazing design tool
I would really appreciate if they include surface modelling too, As it is really important to do geometric design and try something innovative in the automobile, Aero field.
AutoCAD was really helpful in the beginning stage of my profession. I did all tool designing and electode designing for edm and other cnc machines using AutoCAD. It was really easy and helpful, As a beginner i never faced any issues or hard to understand tools with AutiCAD. Really helped me to proved myself and get into more R&D designing
I find that AutoCAD provides me with a lot of sales by using this software on architectural designs, because this tool gives me the consistency I need to convey with any design, saves a great deal of time as well and it is also simple to run. It is used in other fields as well as engineering, such as electromechanics, which are part of the research we can do with 3D printing.
Since it's very pricey because of the licensing it is impossible to spend as a business on the application because it often needs a lot of time learning how to use the applications entirely because it has multiple orders, some of which are very clearly relevant. Another downside is that you need a very powerful machine because it needs a lot of hard disk space.
This software has helped me a lot because I save a lot of time when I sketch because I had to do so before, but it still provides me with a number of toolbars so that each layout can be better, more precise and simple for clients to understand. Since we intend to build and realize stuff on a scale by printing it on 3D printers, the export potential of this platform is very diverse and we are able to shift from this platform to develop and print designs.
Extremely exact and detailed measurements and illustrations. The ability to handle very large and complex sketches. Ability to work on cloud.
The high initial cost. Autocad is a complex program for first time users, it has many functions and tools, thus making bit troublesome to use without training. And also the program is not very suitable for 3D drawings.
Mostly, for technical drawing of parts for sheet metal and others for manufacturing process. Also, for documentation and research and development of parts and devices.
The fact that the software is non-industry specific. You can do a ton in AutoCAD and it's strength is that there's many paths to success
Very little, but if I was pressed for it, I would say that the learning curve isn't intuitive.
Show design and build. Applications in Theater, Film, Television, Live show, and exhibit.
AutoCAD is one of the software i drafted my 3D designs and simulate the overall working of my project before its actual implementation.
Sometimes this software responses very late and started interrupting the work by slowing the speed on some low bit computers. This is the only problem i faced while using this software.
Sometimes i actually made the project before its pre-analysis. Due to this, if the project started malfunctioning after it was made, then the whole components was a waste. This software provided me a good way of simulating the project on software before actually implementing it.
What i like is it is Used for 2D and 3D drawings , very easy to use. The toolbars customization is very useful to easily adjust for your own desire.
What i dislike is its system requirements as it required the system with biggest ram and the rending is time taking.
It help me for designing of Logos, and other desings for my personal pages.
