Easily customizable reporting to suit specific needs.
There are a lot of glitches that affect the basic functionality of the platform. There is also a strong learning curve to use it effectively.
Big time is helpful in providing a consolidated place to track expenses and time for accurate billing. This helps my organization by ensuring that wip is accounted for and the efficiency of company resources.
The way you can visualize all tasks once they are put in, the grid system
The way the tasks get organized in the grid
Engineering projects, tracts time spent in projects
It is user friendly and you can do manage more within one program
You can't print reports right from Big Time. You need to export them into Word or Excel to be printed.
Updated billing software and do other reports from it
Leah J was Awesome, Clear, fast, and competent. most of the time the chat is great! this was one of those times, again Leah J was great. My low recommendation has nothing to do with her or the support I received today.
We've had BT for over a year, and it has never worked fully for us. We have had multiple issues from setup to current. The chat support is good, but all other levels of support really lack. It has never been right. We were promised certain functionality that never was implemented.
Nene, we struggle with it on the daily.
Nice concept to streamline timesheet tracking with a web-based platform. Works okay, but could be so much better.
Cumbersome to use, excessive number of clicks and inefficiencies for daily use, buggy
Streamlines tracking of hours, integrates with billing
It's great that it has an app - I haven't used the app but I do like that it has that capability.
It's not easy to figure out what project you're submitting time for. It's also strange how the user has to click a link below the timesheet in order to submit it - I feel like a button or bigger CTA would be better. Overall the look and feel is very clunky and needs a redesign.
I'd love to solve the issue of reporting. The reporting in BigTime is not intuitive.
The user interface works better than other time-keeping software I've used. Timers are simple and intuitive. But the BIG difference is the reporting. As the business owner, I dig on reports, and BigTime has them in spades. It APPEARS to have great reporting at every level.
The on-boarding process needs work. Their billing starts on day one -- before I even logged in -- and once logged in you understand that the setup is a bear. You've got to make a few key decisions about HOW you will run the system to get the reporting you want.... But the BT staff are no help. Their onboarding teaches you the function of each icon, but they are no help at all with setting the strategy -- or even just setting up the data to work for your business. :-( We worked like dogs to make this work for about 3 months.... then pretty much gave up. My dashboard now says that I have $12 million of unbilled work, and that I make $12,000 per hour. I wish some of that were true, but it's just garbage... which is how I'm starting to feel about BigTime in general. Good idea... no execution.
"UTILIZATION" rates. We wanted to know when our people are available and how much time overall they are working vs. available -- IN ADVANCE. Unfortunately, that never happened. The "ALLOCATION" function of BigTime promised to help us predict utilization several months in the future... Unfortunately, that never happened either. We've now had BT for 12 months, and have used only the time keeping function. Worse, we can't even get it to synch with QBO, so we have to take reports OUT of BT and put them back into QBO to run invoices. All of this is because BT staff couldn't be bothered to reply to our cries for help.
There are some nice integrations on the financial side. You can enter hours, bill clients, and track financials. It is better for individual consultants or consulting firms with minimal projects rather than mid size or larger consulting organizations.
Resource planning is atrocious for a consulting firm. Its like they have no idea how resource planning works and think that projects are only planned once a the agreement starts. If you do consulting and want to allocate resources for future statements of work, forget about it. You cannot differentiate future work and existing work on a single screen and there is no color coding to help. You have to toggle between multiple screens. There seems to be no thought into the actual functionality. For example, if a project completes early and you have future allocations of resources, you can close the project, make all the tasks complete, and clear allocations, but those still allocations still remain in the resource allocation tool. It makes it totally useless. Additionally, if you use external team members (1099 consultants) to lead projects, its impossible to limit financial data and still allow them to use the PM tools. Its all or none. You either see everything or nothing which makes this software totally useless as a project too unless every team member is a W-2 employee. Frustratingly, the sales team said we could use the system the way we needed it, which turned out to be totally false. Nearly a year of working in this system is wasted and good luck trying to get support. No phone support, only via a web browser and you are always 12 back in a queue and an hour to get any help. We have had bugs in every aspect and most are explained as "this is unique to you only." BS. Bugs were found way too often for that to be true. My guess is really poor software development practices. This is more of a billing tool that a integrated end to end project software for the services industry.
We have only implemented project and budget tracking as everything else doesn't work like it was sold to do. We wanted a from sales close to project close solution. What we got was a software that tracks hours against budgets and has a bunch of billing tool that are pointless if you use Quickbooks or other solutions. It doesn't do anything beyond that work using. We are now using other tools for project management and resourcing tracking because the implementations in BigTime are so bad.
The best part has been the onboarding support, especially our direct help. I appreciate the always accessible tech support, as well. The features on BT are consistently expanding, which has made it more and more relevant for our team. We have had a number of bugs and glitches, but it does seem to be stabilizing for our needs.
Creating a large number of tasks has proven time-consuming, buggy, and not very intuitive. I also wish that the workflow dashboard had better features. As a detailed project manager with team members who appreciate high levels of detail, this has proven surprisingly difficult to achieve.
We have needed better asynchronous support and a strong tool that connects existing systems, such as our bookkeeping and billing. We have an extensive team of part-time contractors that vary per contract. This requires us to be extremely custom in our approach to what we provide to our clients, as well as how we communicate internally.
Timesheet options are simple to comprehend.
Invoice features are glitchy. There are constant bugs.
I don't know if the company overall is solving problems. Some particular agents there have helped me with workarounds for the many bugs.
Staff is nice; however, that doesn't mean I should have to talk to them for problems every single time.
Since I started the program, I have been unable to correctly run a single payroll. Constant technical problems have plagued this app. I am so frustrated!
I thought moving from QB Time to Big Time would solve problems. It only created new ones.
Not much was worth it. At our size, I was sold "it would do what i need," and when it didn't I was told tough luck.
The number of membership levels is too rigid.
Time management, invoicing, and project management all are streamlined through Big Time.
