It was a reliable service for 2 years that was fairly straightforward to manage with our team
Out of nowhere all of our information disappeared and all of our staff were transition from business to personal accounts but Box have said they can't see why that would be and that we must of done that? No logs of any deleted files and 70GB (our entire box) has disappeared with no explanation and slow support who are looking into it.
Lost all of our data with no recourse for retrieving it.
The ability to lock down documents is great for legal teams.
I feel like this product is cumbersome. Most teams need something more agile and fluid. I understand their are security implications but Drive and DropBox a better solutions
Ability to lock down legal & financial documents.
It can store large files everything else is pretty annoying
Everything else. It updated its Ux for the worse removing the easy right click option. Organization is difficult. A lot of times files do not load properly.
Storing design files and having those files accessible to those who need it
Box is the fastest, easiest data sharing application I have used. Download the app on your computer and upload files right to the cloud. Share folders with coworkers or friends.
if someone is updating a file you can not see if they are editing it live stream, you can only see it after its been uploaded back up into the folder
Huge financial documents that can not be sent through email, can be shared through box. No need to send multiple emails every minute with updates. Financial documents that are 1000's of rows and columns, shared easily with one upload. Share updates through emails, text or notifications.
I like the idea of box and keeping files in one place. I also like how many users can edit a document at once.
It is not user friendly and adoption was very hard
Our users do not like using it as it is tough to navigate
Sharing capiblities. sub folders and multiple users.
That I can't share videos easily, the system does not integrate nicely with Salesforce, you have multiple log in and request. Files are not filtered and searchable.
Sharing of information across business functions, and for team collaboration.
Box is great for keeping personal files that you may or may not want to share with others. It's easy to send a link that allows the recipient to view and edit that file. I also like the search function on box, although I do believe it needs some fine tuning.
It is way too easy to accidentally delete or edit files. There is also no editing history, like Google Drive has. Also, sometimes I am unable to open files-- I would have to refresh or restart the entire browser to open something.
By using Box, our company is solving the problem of file storage and sharing. This is essentially acting as a shared drive, but not doing a great job at it. Some benefits include being able to open files anywhere without a VPN, although I do think this may be a security issue. But it is very convenient being able to do work on any computer outside of work.
Easy to organize files, good range of file types supported
Having to log into Box to access files because Box Sync takes up too much computer space No easy interface to access documents on desktop that saves/syncs to Box online Difficult to share files User interface is somewhat clunky at times Seem to be unable to work on a document at the same time as someone else (can't see changes in real time like with Google Docs, for example)
Shared storage space Accessible to teams
We receive files from clients that use Box, we do not use it ourselves. They like that it gets around their firewalls and is easy to use.
We often refer to Dropbox internally as 'Box', and being that the logo and typeface is so similar causes so much brand confusion.
Our clients are happy that it bypasses their strict firewalls where other options do not.
Security is excellent - Top notch compared to other cloud storage providers.
SLOW - sync large amounts across multiple users is painfully slow. DropBox OneDrive and GDrive all do a much faster job of syncing
multi-user cloud storage. Saved us from purchasing an in house server. Box was a great resource for us but we eventually moved onto OneDrive to be a more cohesive solution with O365 meeting all of our needs.
That it was easily accessed when you were not in the office.
User interface was not as user friendly as expected. Files came back corrupted after they were uploaded.
A better cloud storage software for the entire company.
Easy enough to find workarounds if your'e a Mac user, but not compatible with Mac so difficult to collaborate.
Program is not Mac-friendly. Need various workarounds
Sharing files across the organization. Saving different versions is helpful, but that's about it.
Approved by my former company (high level of security)
Pretty hard to handle in comparison to dropbox for example
Sharing files accross teams (worldwide project)
I tried Box for one month as a trial. Box charged my company card for the full year, which went unnoticed. Then they JUST did it again without any authorization from ME. I never used BOX after like a day. Sean in Billing says that I'll be paying for another year (2017) no matter what but went ahead and closed my account... I'm of course contacting Bank of America for Fraud charges. I didn't authorize Box to charge my account.
Holding on to my credit card for a year and charging me for two years that I never used.
Sharing files, I used OneDrive
Basic file storage and sync. Basic file storage and sync. Basic file storage and sync. Basic file storage and sync. Basic file storage and sync.
1. Can't sync different select folders to different PCs under same account 2. Box has smallest max file size of the major players. Max file size is 5GB. Even OneDrive is 10GB. Google Drive is 5TB, and DropBox is unlimited! 3. Box makes it very difficult to cancel their service. I had already deleted all of my data off of Box. I could not find anywhere how to cancel it, so I sent an email requesting cancellation to the only email address from which I'd received a response: sales@box.com. Days later, they charged my credit card anyway for monthly fee. They refused to refund that charge because of a technicality - I hadn't sent my request to cancel@box.com. Even though they could see that I had made a request prior to billing date and I was not using their service, they still charged me.
Data backup and ubiquitous access.
