It's a boon for the employer as well as the employee and creates a well regulated and transparent environment between the two.
It took a lot of time to onboard Carta as a vendor and we had to engage a small team around ESOPs from our side but that was not a major problem and I think it is the process for every company.
Helps me view my ESOPs details - how much awarded, how much vested, related certificates, strike price, etc.
I like how user firenedly Carta is and the cap table management.
I dislike that Carta it is really expensive.
Carta is providing us with a cap table management solution for our shareholders so that eveyrne can go on and see thier holdings on an individual basis.
I like that it integrates with our HRIS system Rippling. This makes it easy to keep track of stock for our employees and they enjoy being able to see everything in one place.
I currently do not have any dislikes regarding Carta.
Carta allows for us to accurately track stock for our employees.
The fact I can run a cap table so simply at a given date and have all the customisation I need to generate the results that are needed. Also I like the vesting charts which make explaining EMI easier when talking to non-experts.
Some of the setting feel hidden in the UI but once you know where everything is it isn't too much of a hinderance.
It really helps to maintain an accurate cap table and allow admins who own different areas to make the changes they need but keep everyone else up. It helps answer queries from stakeholders quickly and effectively
They automate a lot of the more ministerial services that I manually perform for my clients at great expense.
For early stage companies, it's expensive. Some of my clients have a lot of stakeholders.
Just having accurate records is a major benefit. Consistent and verifiable stakeholder communications is another. Plus, we''ve used the data room capability and, of course, their 409A valuation service.
The support. The support continued throughout the entire process. I had an amazing experience. The entire onboarding team went above and beyond to ensure a seamless onboarding.
I a yet to find anything that I dislike.
Simplifying equit management for my startup
Great platform for keeping track of Company shareholders
Don't have any dislikes about the Carta website
Being able to communicate their equity holdings of all of our shareholders (over 100)
I like that all of the sharholder information nis in one place - it really helps us to communicate to the interested parties.
I would like to see an easy way to calculate "what-if" scenarios
Communicating shareholder equity and issuing share options
Strong tool for cap table, option grants and equity plan management and liquidity transactions.
Chat function is not usually helpful for questions I have.
Effective management of cap table and equity grant info.
Pretty intuitive, new (valuable) features constantly getting added, and 409a valuations included.
I wish it was easier to modify standard docs (though it is better now than a year ago).
Valuations, single source for equity docs and cap table.
Continuous improvements to financial reporting to meet customers' needs.
Wait time for callbacks sometimes takes more than one business day.
Equity disclosures in the financial statements.
Carta is one of the essential tools for any startup to be able to manage your cap table, investor relationships, and employee stock options.
I wish the calculator for projected future rounds was more sophisticated and allowed you to plug in warrants and other vehicles.
It solves cap table management in all areas.
The portal is straightforward to navigate and the Support team is very knowledgeable and easy to reach. It is the best support team I ever had to deal with.
Very happy with our experience. I did not have any problems.
Carta is taking care of all our Equity Management needs. As an administrator, I found Carta's team extremely helpful. I am not very tech savvy, but I am always able to do what I need, thanks to a fantastic support team.
The Carta platform and Carta representatives have been a pleasure to work with. The Platform is user friendly. Brianna has always been very responsive to all my questions when using Carta.
I can say there are any downsides to using Carta.
Carta handles all of our Stock Option management and our 409A reporting.
Carta tells our investors that we are organized and professional.
Tasks aren't always super intuitive (to me at least). That said, the online help and help from people at Carta always answer my questions quickly.
Carta took a big pain point away from me. I used to track everything in Excel, which took a ton of time and was less credible than a 3rd party managing it.
I find this product extremely helpful in understanding our cap table, how scenarios will impact it in the future, etc. Highly recommended solution for managing a cap table.
I don't really have much to report on this side. I do think for certain features the learning curve can be steep for investors who may or may not be familiar with it.
In general it helps us understand the cap table, allocation of shares, percentage of ownership as well as potential dilution over time. This benefits us also as we help update our users.
Carta is great, especially for a small to a midsized private company. The platform is easy to navigate, with helpful resources. The customer support team is always able to resolve my requests. The exercise simulator is a great feature to use before exercising your options.
Sometimes support can take long to respond back to email requests. When importing draft options, it would be nice to include the cost center field instead of having to do a separate import.
Cap Table Management, Tax Form 3921 and 409A Valuation
Carta is an all in one solution for equity management and reporting. The platform is easy to use and meets all of our needs.
There aren't any downsides other than pricing for smaller companies is high.

Ease of use and comprehensive. Good customer service.
Pricing is starting to creep up - especially for startups that are looking to pinch pennies.
(1) Previously, I had multiple, huge spreadsheets that I used for cap table management. Maintaining them took a lot of time, resulting in a lot of grunt work. Carta has reduced it by over 90%. (2) Getting valuations done was a headache, but not anymore.
Carta is great because it provides a single platform for all users, and is generally very fast.
The stakeholder upload page needs to be de-bugged.
Carta issues e-certificates , so we no longer spend time printing, mailing, cancelling hard copy stock certificates. It has become more user-friendly over the years which means that more users can access and update it, which is a good thing.
We use Carta as both our admin and for our holding co (and as a user invested in the Funds). Technology is great - the only admin in the VC space IMHO! Staff and service are great - always knowledgable and efficient.
No downsides unless you don't want to embrace technology and prefer an old-school admin system
Manages our VC funds, all tech, accounting, LP portal. On the equity mgmt side, manages the company, equity, board approvals etc.
Carta makes managing our cap table incredibly simple and efficient.
Entering large financings with multiple shareholders can be tedious.
Allows me to manage cap table and issuances as well as run pro formas of proposed financings.
The technical support for onboarding was great.
More detailed tutorials would be welcome.
We're very early stage, so the most helpful use it generating cap tables.
Carta makes the challenging job of tracking equity ownership easy. The support team is always extremely helpful. This product is the leader in the equity tracking category.
Carta is great. Its not great when the data is input incorrectly but Carta does a good job educating users. The data warnings could be better if they differentiated between critical and not critical warnings.
I have received a lot of benefits from the software by using the stock options and equity accounting and disclosures. The results give management and our auditor's confidence in the accounting.
Easy-to-use platform. Very efficient for investor relations management.
You can't exercise options automatically in Mexico.
Investor Relations Management and Stock Options Administration.
Carta just helped our organization raise the bar for equity management; it simpliefies cap table complexity in a user friendly package; their support team is also always available and solves problems quickly. I would recommend Carta to any company. Additionally, their knowledge base resources are great for those that are missing the specific techinical background about equity management.
