Dropbox DocSend Pros and Cons
- Combines controlled document sharing with visitor notifications and document- and page-level engagement analytics.
- Advanced Data Rooms includes visitor groups, audit logs, automatic indexing, analytics, and due-diligence tracking; the Help Center also documents Q&A.
- Includes eSignature and file requests for some document workflows.
- Integrates with common cloud storage, sales, and email services, including Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, OneDrive, Gmail, Outlook, Salesforce, and Zapier.
- Exact annual-billing prices were not verifiable in the accessible official pricing information.
- Some capabilities, including Advanced Data Rooms features, Salesforce, SSO, and sub-teams, may require higher tiers or additional cost.
- Public documentation reviewed did not establish post-download remote shred, built-in redaction, a general public API, or standalone mobile apps.
- G2 category comparisons report below-category-average scores for Remote Shred, Document Security, and Watermarks; these are user-rating signals, not an independent security audit.
DocSend integrates easily with content you may already have on Dropbox that you use in your marketing and business development engagements - and it has APIs to systems like Salesforce and most major email marketing platforms. Customer Support - especially for configuration and onboarding - are top notch, and ensure your team has access to the features they need. Ongoing usage becomes second nature, with the ability to leverage dashboards to see which prospects are interested in engaging with you and what content they have engaged with. This makes for a better prospect experience, in that outreach is tailored and relevant to the content they have viewed from the documents or spaces you have made available to them. It helps our sales and marketing teams have more meaningful discussions with our prospects and clients, which makes for far more positive discussions for all involved. We're better engaging prospects on topics of interest, instead of throwing ideas and services against the wall.
DocSend has few limitations. Dropbox is very responsive to feedback on any issues or ideas (such as how to incorporate mailmerge email links with platforms that aren't in its default list of email platforms that it connects to). Any limitations are generally addressed quickly - and collaboratively to help for future use.
DocSend is helping us get the right marketing collateral to the right prospects, to better inform them about our offerings, let us in turn understand which pieces of those offerings are of most interest, and help us solve prospect problems and close deals.
Its a great for folder and files Sharing tool that user adapt easily to its functionality making then have easy time while dealing with the content. The interface is cool and i enjoy the overall experience.
I really like everything concerning this tool. Its installation process is simple and customer representative team 8s amazing.
I like how it has streamlined Most of ours documents handling process. Its simple to retrieve documents at anytime
The traceability of document visits and the ability to know who engages with your documents, which parts of the documents they engage with and for how long. An added benefit is the ability to sign documents! You get 2 tools in 1! Great customer support! Responds within minutes and actually understand your questions. They also have a pitch deck analysis and Fundraising Network. Only the process of preparing the deck to pass the check made our slides much stronger.
A bit expensive. The per head business model doesn't really work for me. We ended up using only 1 person. The fundraising network sounds great and their database of active investors is impressive. However, they suggested 3 people, who we never connected with, and that was the end of the Fundraising Network perks.
Sending pitch decks to investors, signing documents, sharing data rooms, sharing sales decks.
I love the "Spaces" and use them all the time for creating personalized content hubs
I don't like how DocSend works with video (uploading video to Vimeo and then creating a powerpoint presentation with an active link is a very messy workaround). I would really prefer if video worked out of the box.
I mostly used DocSend to create personalized content hubs for my potential clients. This strategy proved to be more efficient than standard autoresponder series. Usage of content hubs allowed me to significantly shorten the sales cycle (instead of "dripping" content message by message I create a hub with materials that I find relevant and then follow up based on usage statistics).
We can share documents online and can apply updates to it real time - like sharing signatures.
Sometimes take long to upload the documents
It's more convenient to share signatures whenever and wherever you are, anytime and any day and depending on urgency.
I can upload documents that can be viewed by people I sent with link. Easy to navigate.
Sometimes, it takes too long to load especially when uploading.
It allows us to share resume just via link - without the need to upload the file itself. Saves time and memory. Gives easy access to clients.
DocSend is the amazing tool which provides super cool features like 1. Various templates for Adminstartive teams like NDA, Fundraising Templates, Board Meetings tempalates etc 2. Secure Sharing and easy to create shareable link 3. Document Analytics 4. Local file uploads 5. Best Document Search within Application 6. Sharing Controle and many more
Docsend is cool tool but costing is bit higher. They should offer cost effective plan for limited use.
ESignature, Pitchdeck Share
Ability to see who looked at a doc. Easiness of creating a link. Dedicated links per company for better tracking. Dashboard and weekly digest. Ability to load many types of docs.
All good so far. No disadvantages I encountered. There was a bug when I uploaded a google doc and the links were not clickable - it was fixed by uploading a pdf.
While fundraising, I need to know who views my docs and when (mainly to see how engaged they are) I also need to have tracking on the doc to see that it's not spread too wide. It's also good that I can always invalidate a doc and block a link.
One of our investor documents was sent via email by a contact. It was a mistake. We wanted to track where it went. Couldn't. A mentor told us about DocSend. We never send documents any other way. The new e-signature feature is a great feature. We use DocuSign now. Rather have everything in one place. Simple to format for signers plus tools for time, access, etc. Not everyone is used to e-signature and it can be exasperating for them to complete. Now our customers find it much easier to read and take action.
The least thing I like is it's a bit chunky for mobile and features don't all align.
Having a tool that makes it easier for our customers and employees to review and sign documents. Having documents sent and/o signed all in one location.
monitor seconds and viewer need to leave email, part of CRM
pricing not good, I join TechCrunch you did not give old customer discount.
GDrive is good, but docsend can monitor the performance of viewer.
We use docsend for our investor deck. It's helpful because we can make it password proteced, upload versions as things evolve, and see analytics on views.
I love the paltform. Honestly nothing I would change.
Information privacy, analytics of viewership, version control.
Ease of use, sharability, tracking, and insights.
The document signing feature could be easier.
Easily sending decks back and forth, which is pretty constant for startup founders.
Easiness to consolidate a unique pitch and know which parts are getting the most attention.
If you create document versions, it is hard to consolidate them back to a unique point of contact.
Getting consolidated feedback from a great number of investors.
Professionals handling same projects do it wi ease as you are done with your part the next upload and work continues regardless where they are.
It has improved our management and code of coordination we can't regret at all.
Consolidating all files of all professionals involved in project for easy sign in and work continuity whenever they are.
Organize and manage documents to share and sign
haven't found it yet; not sure what else to mention here
Control of sensitive shared documents and simplification of online multi-parties signature process
2 main advantages 1. Easy transmitting of files via a link (you dont have to add the files directly into the email). This makes it easier for the receiver). With the online-view the receiver can look at the content without downloading (especially helpful when you open the file on a phone) and download it later 2. Full visibility about which page had been looked at and how long. This is even comparable between different recipients which means you will be able to understand where the focus is and what could be removed or what needs to be optimized.
To be honest I didnt had any notable topics which I didnt liked. The only thing which could be improved is the UI at certain stages (e.g it should be easier to navigate between some of the menues).
It makes the communication with the receiver much easier. In my case I was sending out my pitchdeck and I was able to optimize this via the given data points (which slide was looked at, how long etc.)
It is simple to use and has great features. The look is professional and has loads of useful features.
Nothing that I can see at the moment that I dislike.
Sending URL to potential investors view the Data Room. The main problem that it solves it is easy to upload new documents and track who are viewing them at each time.
I like that I can spin out a new doc with signature and fields in seconds.
The available fillable fields aren't as robust as I would like.
I have used Docsend to easily get signatures across all levels of business. I keep contracts in a single place, and I love the analytics that I can see when we focus on fundraising.
The site's reliability. Never had bugs which gives me confidence to use it in other cases
Mobile webapp is a bit clunky. small buttons
measuring doc engagement (investor updates)
Perfect tool to share ever changing documents to investors, partners, team
I don't dislike anything, perfect product
Perfect tool to share ever changing documents to investors, partners, team
Very easy and fast to share docs, set permissions, and get stats on who's viewing your docs and how much time they're spending on them. These features are particularly powerful for our sales process.
So far so good; maybe it would be good if I could block my own URL from the tracking stats. I often pull docs up in DocSend on calls because it's a very clean look, but I don't want the time that I spend clicking links and viewing docs to be tracked in the dashboard.
This is most powerful for us as we send out our sales deck to potential customers - makes it easy to run our sales funnel and track stats on who's most interested in our products
Readership tracking and access control Ability to update content once shared Password/email protection
Versioning feels manual, but that might be because I never tried their integrations
Sharing sensitive docs that I don't want people to download or have access to forever
The platform is easy and intuitive to use.
Not having had it when I was a lawyer years ago!
Managing funding rounds.
I love the UI and the ease of use. It's truly so easy to learn, and the prospects love how clean and organized it looks as well. I would say that I also like the email notification if someone clicks on the documents you send them.
Honestly, not much; this tool is perfect for sharing content to anyone and everyone.
I'm solving educating potential clients or prospects with material on our software.
I love DocSend! It's so easy to send documents to anyone. I pick the content I want to send, copy the link, and then send it to the prospect via email. They can share this link with anyone without having to request access to it.
Can't think of much, it's a very easy to use software. The only thing I could critique is the background logo size of spaces or resource rooms. It's far too small and the logo barely shows up on any space you create.
I'm solving the problem of sharing content without using a bunch of links or having to add individual attachments to my emails. This saves me time and also ensures my email delivers.
I like that I can set expiration dates on info, control links, and get feedback on who is using the links. I love spaces in that I can copy a space and send a LOT of documents to Venture Capital Investors without setting up loads of links.
I wish they could do the same for videos.
Sending documents to investors. Benefits: knowledge of who is opening them. reduced time on managing documents and links.
It is really helpful to know when recipients are looking at the material you sent them, how long they are spending and what they are focusing on. The fundraising process involves a lot of optimisation as you go along, so by knowing what parts of your deck etc are being looked at the most, and what parts are being ignored allows you to constantly improve your material.
It is a pain having to open Docsend to create new links, and there is not an easier way. Docsend doesn't really easily integrate with a lot of tools - so its a bit time consuming. I use pipedrive as CRM and there is no integration. Would be really convenient if there was a integration with Pitch.com - automatically upload documents and control access.
Getting data points on the fundraising process. It helps you evaluate your material and constantly improve, whereas otherwise your having to seek the opinions of lots of people or make guesses. It also allows you to control your documents centrally so that you can update documents as you go along without having to resend / reissue links and also revoke access at any point.
I like how we can not only keep track of our files but also use the analytics to improve our deck.
Nothing so far- I believe I just have to pay extra to remove Docusend from the url.
It's been helpful in limiting the free distribution of contents containing confidential information.
Easy to use. Being able to choose settings for each files
I happened that I couldn't upload a particular type of file. I don't know if it's all about my offer. I don't need to receive a weekly report in my mailbox. I can reach my account online directly to consider my performance
Being able to control who's reading my presentations and track where they are sprade to identify new leads. Help save the planet by limiting the sending of attachments
Docsend is simply a better way to share content with prospective clients, from documents to presentations to video clips to proposals. Prospective clients like the organized access to relevant content - it's quickly become a critical resource for us.
There are no downsides that I can see, whatsoever.
HIstorically, we would email relevant docs to prospective clients, which is suboptimal as you do not know who has received what docs, have they read them, etc. Docsend solves for all of this.
