Dropbox Reviews: 4.4/5 — Solid Choice

Dropbox is similar to google drive in the sense that it helps you keep all of your files in the cloud. The only difference is that Dropbox is a separate program and is easier in terms of storage space. You can add more storage space easily. It is less complicated to do so in Dropbox. I enjoy that you can log in via the web, mobile, or computer application.

Dropbox has a smart sync feature that is supposed to automatically sync items for when you have internet. However, this feature does not work very well. Files that are supposed to be on line only, are downloaded to my computer. If your company has a large internal file structure.. then there goes your computer space. When your computer space is full, it just crashes. Constantly. I worked with Dropbox Support many times to try and fix this issue. Our IT couldn't fix the issue. It was just overall a giant mess. If I tried to remove and reinstall dropbox there would be duplicate folders and then it would give me an error saying that there were duplicate folders and can not sync. Overall I've had a pretty negative experience with drop box. I would not recommend.

It was used for internal storage and collaboration within our company. However, we had to switch to google since Dropbox was not working.

I really can't say much about what I like for this software, I find it awful.

It's hard to save files, its hard to open files, its hard to share files and files are always expiring. When you are sharing with others, it far to complicated to find whose mailbox things are shared in. I don't recommend this product at all. Never have.

I used the product only when I absolutely have to. Its hard to use, not intuitive. There is no benefit I've ever realized and I've been using for years. I avoid it as much as possible.

Dropbox is a great free way to share files with people.

It's too confusing. There isn't a clear way to use the tools, and before you know it you're out of storage.

We tried dropbox, but weren't happy with it and ultimately decided to use another tool called autotask workplace to access files when not at the office.

Dropbox allows you to upload and access from anywhere with an internet connection, and if you pay for the higher storage, you can store a lot.

It's cumbersome, especially compared to Google Drive. Trying to remember multiple log-ins so a team can access shared files without sharing the entirety of your files was very frustrating.

Storing and sharing files for collaborative efforts. It provided a way to have access to the files I need without any concern of it being lost, manipulated, etc. and allowed my boss and I to work on projects together easily.

"File Requests" is about the only feature of Dropbox that I have any appreciation for. It works as advertised but could still be even better (by offering visibility into request status and better alerts of when requests have been acted upon and completed.

Just about everything associated with the platform. From its insistence on issuing Folder invites to those you share a folder with before anything is uploaded to said folder, to the overall user interface and usability of the platform... it's so poorly designed that it causes literal stress and frustration at nearly every single turn.

Easy set up and synchronization. It is very efficient in maintaining document version control.

My computer always seems to get slower whenever I use it even when documents are synced.

Run out of space quickly. Always getting notifications that my dropbox is full, and it's annoying. Google Drives does Dropbox better.

UI is TERRIBLE 1. URLs are the folder names, not persistent UUIDs - change your folder structure? Everyone's links are broken 2. Search is useless. Doesn't find documents with the *exact name* you type in. If you don't already know where your document is, you are not going to find it. 3. UI is an embarrassment. Long filenames cannot be viewed at all - no option to expand the filename column

It was a good software to hold and share information like most hosting platforms are.

As compared to the organization structure of many other cloud sharing platforms, Dropbox has been the most convoluted and unreliable. Their support system is also not great for smaller organizations such as mine.

The ideal use for a platform like dropbox is to use it for storing and managing files.

When it started out- and I was an early adopter- Dropbox for business was great. A folder on your computer- titled "Dropbox"- was identical in every way to a folder in the cloud. Any change you made to that folder on your computer would be reflected in the cloud version, and visa- versa. Easy, simple, uncomplicated, brilliant. They wrecked all that a few years ago, and it just got worse.

Dropbox began altering this simple plan a few years back with needless extras. The extras only got more useless and burdensome with time, til finally, in an attempt to reconcile some discrepancies, the "folder sync" function filled my computer with duplicate and false-duplicate files. I didn't know what was what, and when I tried to work with their customer service to resolve this issue, they only made it worse, and could only spout scripted solutions in their "text help". No one would talk to me- there is NO telephone based support, only hopelessly robotic text chats- and the issue remains unresolved. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVVVV ARRRR. No, I'm not just a grumpy griper. This was something. Kind of traumatizing, really, considering they truly gave me the impression that they did not care one whit about me or my thousands of files of useless or missing data. Never an apology, never a personal reach out to actually help me, and I BEGGED them.

The best benefit of Dropbox Business is in not having it anymore, and staying as far away from their crappy service as I can. I use Google g-suite's business plan, just 9.99 for unlimited storage (no, I don't work for Google) versus 19.99 for Dropbox's crappy limited storage, which, I have read, is apparently actually hosted on Google servers!

You can easily upload and share all sorts of documents with colleagues. It’s password protected and easily accessible by anyone who gets an invite to it.

That you can access your Dropbox account from anywhere in the world, and you never have to worry about your phone not backing up etc. YOu can also make your own files.

That there is no way to connect this to your phone or tablet automatically - you have to manually store everything in Dropbox rather than it syncing by itself.

It is easy to share a Dropbox link of images with clients, rather than attaching them all in an email.

DropBox was great back in the day when it was one of the first cloud storage options. It works if you're still using Outlook and Office products.

Once you switch to Google Dropbox becomes irrelevant. There's no need for it when Google Drive does the same thing, for free, and connects to all of the other Google Applications.

File-sharing of large files, especially with outside contractors/auditors. Sometimes though, people like auditors are not allowed to use this site and have specific requirements which can be annoying if you've laready uploaded here.

2TB of space and collaborative workflows enticed me to try this product for team management. The administration console and email notification set up was incredibly intuitive, as was general account management.

The most important aspect of a file management platform is Availability and Dropbox business was not able to fulfill that essential need due to its severe system limitations. This lead to several issues with different internal workflows and customer complaints. The transfer speeds and file size limitations for non-admin accounts made Dropbox business completely impractical for sharing large files. The basic license is limited to 3 seats for a team for a collaborative cloud space, but for the pricing and functionality Microsoft Teams or Sharepoint are just so far superior. There is no additional automation options and it truly is just a repository to dump 2TB of content (slowly) to a Dropbox server.

Dropbox Business is trying to offer a collaborative space to share and upload files from external and internal teams. The benefit of this solution was hindered due to the bandwidth caps for users to upload files and the limitation of licenses to 3 internal team members.

Accessible Anywhere. It has a base storage of 2.5GB which can be useful when you need to do an emergency backup of your files.

Other Cloud Storage offers bigger base storage.

I used dropbox as an emergency storage when I needed to have files from my phone to my laptop without using a USB Cable. I was not aware of the cloud storage stuff before and dropbox happened to be preinstalled on my previous phone which I thought I could use. I needed to transfer some recipes from my phone to my laptop and I do not have a cable handy. Since I am connected to the internet I remembered about cloud storage. I then checked DropBox and viola, it solved my problem on how I can flawlessly see my files using two devices. Having a cloud storage is way more convenient because you no longer need to bring cables around with you and you can save your file on one device and pick it up on another. The only con that I realized is that DropBox only offers 2.5GB as base storage but after searching online, I found out that other providers offers a bigger storage size.

We couldn't figure out how to share files. So I canceled, or so I thought. I was charged again next month. And finally was able to cancel my account after a few pages through the cancellation process. I thought, I might as well use this as much as I can if they will charge me for it. But you can't drag and drop files properly and if you want to upload, you can only upload one file or one folder at a time. So I canceled my Dropbox Plus account, or so I thought.

I got Dropbox so I could share audio files for my podcast work.

I dislike just about everything pertaining to Dropbox . Dropbox has some of the worst customer service people I have ever encountered. Dropbox essentially has a monopoly and its pricing structure is reflective of that. There is really nothing special about Dropbox.
