The best part about Mercury is that it has a ton of resources for companies that don't have much experience with many business-related products. It also has a ton of perks across many different aspects of a company like marketing, accounting, HR, etc that give really heavy discounts that really benefit a startup.
Worst part about Mercury is the time it takes to get money into the account (aside from wires). When I first made my account and funded money through my bank account, it took about 6 business days for the money to actually appear in the account.
Mercury is just making it super easy for any startup to get off the ground running. It has helped my business tremendously through the amount of resources across every aspect of business.
I love the UI and the simplistic design, the UX experience has been awesome so far, we utilized the payment link to receive money from investors and we feel that it made us look good, so thank you!
we recently had to look for the IBAN and account number for international wire and the search bar didn't show it when we typed it, we think this could be an easy fix, it took us a bit of clicking around to discover how to find the routing # etc
making the transfers easy between different parties
Love the super friendly self-serve UI and great customer support when needed.
Not much! I really like Mercury. Maybe some small details about making perks more available, or expanding venture debt tools
Easy financial banking
If you are a startup, freelancer, or solo founder, the last thing you want is to go through a lot of red-tape to open a business bank account. Mercury made it very easy to open and start operating. The interface is very intuitive, and works great on mobile. As a founder, I can make payments easily and send payment requests with a simple interface as well. It integrates with gusto for payroll and with QB and other essential software. The only minus is that it doesn't integrate with Zelle (at the time of this review) which would be ideal for a lot of micropayments. For the rest, highly recommended!
Lack of integration with Zelle. That's about it.
Provided business banking to new startups, which traditional banks make it very hard to do!
Simple, intuitive UI. Love the multi-account feature that allows me to organize business finances across each different sector of my organization. Also love the perks that it provides.
Sometimes the automatic transfers do not work as intended.
Business banking
Very easy to use and issue credit cards on
Managing spend is not simple to use and still requires tools like Quickbooks outside of Mercury
Mercury is our bank and is great to use.
Fast, affordable, and intuitive. Virtual cards.
No immediate transfer between business accounts.
Virtual cards, wire transfers with no fees and multiple checking accounts for the business if needed.
The UX of Mercury is fantastic. It's super easy to find everything I need to.
Support is sometimes not as responsive as I would like. Their treasury rates are not super competitive.
Business checking
I love the easy of use with setting up and executing transactions with Mercury. It's really easy to set up sub-accounts for multiple business divisions, and there's an awesome way to consolidate receipts.
You can feel the growing pains of this young company. There's no way to dispute transactions online (or over the phone!) with their IO credit card product. Also, the cards for some reason all printed wrong. Our company name is "5GRV Production" and they only print "GRV Production" for some reason. Looks like they never programmed them to accept numbers in a company name?
Mercury is solving the issues of sub par business bank accounts
The app and website are modern, and the interface is easy to use. I love their payment feature that generates a unique account number for every customer of yours.
Unfortunately Mercury does not pay any interest. Further, their transaction export is limited to just CSV. I hope they add other formats in the future.
Mercury is a great banking account overall for any small and medium-sized organization.
It's an easy to use solution for simple banking operations.
The response times for support requests are not that fast. It doesn't offer a comprehensive cash management solution like Brex.
Having a US bank account without any restrictions. Also using mercury bank accounts for tax purposes is a good idea.
Easy to create multiple accounts, multiple cards, and online-centric feel.
Terrible communication, and they're not proactive about solving problems. We had a glitch which resulted in our account being deactivated. Did they immediately notify us by email, text and phone call? Did they immediately start working on resolving the issue? No. They waited until we noticed after transactions started failing, then they delayed helping us until we verified the account, then they took a break for the weekend and didn't log in again until Monday. Only after we were able to get the case escalated to their Compliance team through an internal connection did they start working with the other bank to start fixing the issue. Was there anything preventing them from working with the other bank the instant that the account was deactivated? None that they expressed to me. Even after all this, they seem to think that the problem was that the account was closed temporarily. While that is a problem, it's not as big of a problem as their lack of communication and initiative. Also, it's not compatible with Zelle.
Fast setup, fast access to accounts, and easy ways to invoice and pay via ACH.
