I can't say enough good things about restream.io! After using xSplit for a long while, I was having some problems with bandwidth so I was looking around for something that would allow me to multi-stream my streams more effectively. Since I was already using OBS, I knew it would be an easy transition to use Restream. It's so easy to set up and only takes a few minutes to get going. I was able to immediately get 0-lag and was also able to try out a lot of different bandwidth settings to make sure I was getting the most effective one for my situation. Since the views of our broadcasts have increased and donations have increased significantly and I don't have to worry about whether or not I should be streaming on one platform or another. I highly recommend checking out restream.io, you're going to love it!
Restream provides a very useful service for people who want to stream but they need to make some improvements on their branding. The branding on the site is too much and it makes it seem too corporate and not personal. Also, the website isn't very interactive and the colors are not as vibrant as they could be. However, It is a very useful tool and it is very easy to use.
If you stream live events, you'll know what a hassle maintaining an audience is. Not only do you have a high channel capacity in place, what with multiple computers pumping content across the web, but you also have to handle the viewers coming in through your stream. This is a very difficult task, especially if you want to have an interactive audience. This is the first of the main benefits the Restream add-on for OBS grants the user. Not only does it help broadcast your live stream to a much larger audience, but it also manages the stream for you. This means you'll never have to worry about stopping, starting or stopping your stream for your viewers again. Not to mention that it's also incredibly easy to set up. You can sit back and relax while your audience rises.
Restream gives us the ability to multi-stream 'live' to both YouTube and Facebook simultaneously without needing to use any OBS software installed on a local computer
The one thing I dislike about Restream's Scheduler is that it needs any pre-recorded videos over 2GB to be uploaded and scheduled at least 2 hours before streaming is scheduled to start.
Due to the global Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic, the church needed to be able to 'live' stream services. However, the internet connection in the church is terrible and was not up to the job, and Restream gives us the ability to record our services and then stream them as if they were live. The streaming service they provide has meant that we have been able to continue to have our services throughout the pandemic and even increased the number of people who have been able to participate in them.
The scheduler tool makes automating a livestream simple. It's also great for streaming to multiple platforms, such as Facebook Live and YouTube Live. The support we received while having an issue was also prompt and comprehensive (they have 24/7 chat support). Streaming from their servers, using Scheduler, is also a great solution if you have somewhat spotty internet reception (which we have). We used to get regular disconnects or would have to severely throttle back our quality, now it's just simple and straightforward and we don't have to worry about any of that. It's great!
There's a charge for the main service and then an additional charge for Scheduler. Scheduler is one of the main reasons why we went with this software, and will most likely be well worth the $49 extra per month. It just removes so much manpower from the streaming process when it's all automated. We just check in on the software as we're going live to double check everything is set where it needs to be, then we just sit back and let it go. We did have a random disconnect at one point, which may have had to do with our video bitrate. Their support team was helpful in diagnosing the problem.
We used to stream directly from OBS several times a week, which required a lot more hands-on work. It also relied on our somewhat instable internet connection.
What I love the most is how easy it was and is to get up and running with Restream.IO. Simply start an account, add all your relevant platforms, grab your RTMP keys and away you go! Their chat module makes it easier than ever to have all of your streams communication with one another and you the same with all your viewers (supported and compatible platforms only). With no caps or limits, they make it easy to justs get going!
Sometimes connectivity isn't perfect but that is a rarity, nearly all streams will go through and end perfectly, no matter their duration. Managing users across all platforms can also prove very challenging.
Being able to get my content to multiple platforms simultaneously allows me to reach a larger audience with great ease. This can present partnership opportunities very rapidly with multiple platforms.
Reastream is extremely helpful for live streaming to multiple platforms & multiple audiences at once. Without their service, it would be impossible without having an exorbitant amount of hardware & internet resources. It is very easy to setup pretty much any service to restream to as well. Support is quite excellent, they respond quickly & are very helpful.
They seem to take quite a while to add chat support for new services. When DLive started getting more popular, it took about an extra month or so for chat to be supported. I really dislike that you have to pay extra to stream to a public Facebook page (not personal) & it's annoying to have to pay for a single custom RTMP, but at least that one makes more sense. They seem to be trying to drop support for Windows 7, since Microsoft themselves are.
I primarily live stream to YouTube, but I wanted to reach other audiences as well without having to sacrifice one over the other. There's a lot of people who only watch Twitch, Mixer is getting more attention & DLive as well. It's helpful to stream on multiple platforms so you can reach more people.
Restream is great for streaming to multiple channels at the same time. The live studio is great as well, and the scheduling of videos is awesome, the event can go live without the audience knowing it's pre-recorded.
Some channel integrations are a bit complicated, for example YouTube and Twitter - you have to create an "Event" on twitter for the stream to happen, it fails a lot of the time. The schedule event/video has been updated to better the LinkedIn integration but for our purposes and needs it actually made it worse. If you want to schedule a video you have to create an event and add the video at the same time without the possibility of changing the video later.
Restream allows us to stream our event to multiple social platforms with only a few clicks. We also benefit greatly from using the Studio when we host live panel discussions or fireside chats.
Great service with a ton of flexibility when producing video
Its made for streamers not really business who want to stream content or events
We wanted something that could stream a prepackaged video, restream could do that (ie schedule it in advance). Its made more for someone who is live streaming content or conversations, which is great, just not what we where using it for.
I used this as a Technology Coordinator for a church congregation's Sunday service live-streaming. I liked that Restream allows you to stream simultaneously to multiple social media platforms from one user interface
It was a bit difficult in the beginning learning the user interface, and it seemed like every time we logged in, there was some delay or issue with the password.
The problem Restream helped to solve was live streaming a weekly production online to Facebook and YouTube simultaneously. This allows church members who are unable to attend due to the pandemic, access to still experience church community, and stay up to date on the liturgy.
I really just like the multi stream aspect of it. It is very smooth & intuitive.
Titles Page is my issue. When you i am selecting a game, i cant just type in the game and it comes up automatically. Let's say "Anthem" for example. Because it is a low priority game, i always have to manually type it in for each of my platforms instead of Restream just letting it update all of my titles along with the game of my choosing automatically. So low priority games are my issue.
I keep having to connect my mixer account for some reason. It is sometimes asks me to review my mixer account every once and a while.
The ability to add on screen graphics and branding
Not as mobile friendly as I'd like - it would be cool to see an app
Ability to reach a much larger audience with our live videos by streaming to multiple channels at once.
