We at X-Cart use Segment since it's earIy days. I really like how simple is to enable a new system just to try. I don't remember when we spent time on new integration.
High cost for new users (and those who wanted to upgrade from archive plans). But this is business, I understand.
Time from an idea of attaching new system to integration is reduced from weeks to hours.
We've used Segment to collection stats from multiple sources and send them to multiple destinations. The best part is that I can configure sources and look at the "debug" log to see records coming through without having to configure a destination. I also like how the destinations have different options for transforming and filtering the records before sending them through.
There isn't much that I dislike. If I had to choose something, I think that it would be some of the confusion in selecting destinations and what will be supported before configuring the destination.
We're using Segment for collecting analytics from web, server, cli, and mobile applications. We're able to see what features users are using and determine if there are things we need to modify, add, or remove based on real usage.
Outstanding product. From the core event-tracking to their Protocols and Personas products, it all works really well and is very powerful. Easy to use and implement.
Pricing can get expensive as traffic scales, especially since you are charged for all anonymous traffic.
Customer behavior, marketing customization, and event collection for advanced analytics.
The entire on-boarding process was amazing, extremely helpful, and got us rolling in much less time than I'd had imagined. Additionally, the ease-of-use of the platform overall has been incredible, allowing one person to implement the entire event-ingestion portion of our platform single-handedly.
Nothing to report here. All of the problems I encountered were on our end, and Segment was always happy to help where they could to handle them.
Rapid implementation of event ingestion across multiple clients to multiple sources with ease I have not felt from any other platform I've worked with. This has made collecting new events unbelievably simple, and sending data to new locations something that can be done in minutes, instead of days.
- do 1 integration with Segment and then scale it to 10 more integrations with less effort - best startup program from what i saw - a lot of integrations - very useful webinars from founders (How to grow your StartUp)
Its hard to write minimum characters about what i dislike in Segment because service is beautiful :)
Segment is money saving in a lot of integrations. We do integrations with Intercom, Fullstory, Amplitude much faster.
I love that segment integrates with whatever tool or product you can think of - it makes getting your analytics stack in place easy.
The Visual Tagger needs more features and flexibility comparable to Heap or Pendo.
We started using Segment to track events and users in our product while we figured out what analytics tools we wanted to use, that way Engineering wouldn't be burdened if we needed to switch.
I love the way in which Segment integrate all our data in a single source of truth
Sometimes is pretty difficult to show data to our managing directors, should be pretty good if you have some reports based on personas or connections
All my customer data and analytics is now solved with segment
The combination of a great way to gather data on users and their actions, with the massive list of other tools it integrates with. It allows us to simply and quickly try out different tools, as the time to set them up is so low, as they can get all the data from Segment. This also allows us to be more flexible in changing the set of tools we use.
Like many SaaS tools, the pricing goes up real fast for all features, even for a small startup, and so we have had to rely on other tools for things that we could have used Segment for had the price for the full functionality been more reasonable.
1) Allowed us to develop a consistent method to get data on users from their first web site visit to deeper interaction in our app. 2) Enabled us to reuse this method across many different tools, and thus reduced the switching cost between such tools.
Segment describes itself as Customer Data Infrastructure and excels in providing that often neglected foundation for achieving the much sought after 360° view of the customer. In short, they live up to their brand's promise and offer just the right portfolio of functions.
They're growing fast and responses from customer service can suffer from it. Yet, there's always a willingness and drive to perform at its best.
Integrating disparate databases, fine-grained analytics. Savings on engineering time.
Having a simple implementation for all my event calls. The debugging options were truely lifesavers at many stages while testing the app in development. We could quickly analyze the events sent by our app.
Pricing is making in hard for smaller startups. But I am spoiled because as an early adopter I had all features free of charge for years. But now I am quite dependant on Segment :-)
Enhanced ECommerce, triggers, interactions after events.
