Similarweb Pros and Cons
- Very broad coverage: websites, apps, search terms, companies, ad creative and more.
- Strong competitive and market intelligence, traffic & channel breakdowns.
- Robust API ecosystem, integrations, and AI/agent support.
- Modular feature bundles allowing selection of competitive intel, SEO, ads, etc.
- Good benchmarking capabilities vs competitors and industry.
- Cost can be high for small businesses; many useful features are in higher tiers.
- Transparent pricing lacking for enterprise/top tiers; many features require contacting sales.
- Depth of SEO/backlink/keyword data may be less than specialized tools in some comparisons.
- Sparse data for very low-traffic or niche sites; some reports return "insufficient data".
- Limited public information on UI localization / non-English support.
The competitor analysis tool is particularly useful and a feature that comes in hand on a day-to-day basis. The API is good for integration with reporting and visualisation tools and is useful for extrapolating insights.
More support regarding API integration with third-party tools could be added.
Digital competitor intelligence is a big one for our agency and Similarweb allows us to understand how our client's competitors are performing across various platforms.
I like that the site is easy to navigate. It was easy for me to learn where everything was on my own.
I wish every dataset was able to export into Excel format. Many are only able to be saved as PNGs, which requires a lot of manual data entry on my end for large datasets. I would also like to be able to build custom reports with more than 5 brands to export - not necessarily requiring visualization. This way, I wouldn't have to pull many different combinations and combine manually.
I'm solving problems about digital KPIs including traffic numbers and marketing sources.
Good breadth of data on competitive traffic. Can add key competitors and review across channels, e.g. organic search paid search, direct, social etc. Can create reports by URL or keywords. Good support from SimliarWeb.
Not always the most intuitive platform. Takes a bit of getting used to and is often difficult to find what you are looking for. No filtering for most US states.
Looking at how we measure up against key national and local competitors. It provides service line marketing managers and other leaders with good data of competitor traffic.
The possibility to view all sorts of information on an easy-to-use platform. Save a personal dashboard and more,.
Sometimes it feels like the data that is shown on similar web isn't accurate compared to various other tools.
competitor research is easier in some cases and gives a quick overview of different metrics in the niche i need
The best thing about the Similarweb tool is that I can get an idea about the digital performance of our direct competitors. How much traffic our competitors are getting from various marketing channels.
It provides approximated data about the performance of our competitors. I am not sure about the accuracy of it's data and that's the thing I don't like about the Similarweb tool. It doesn't give me confidence in using this tool.
I am using Similarweb on for benchmarking against my competitors. Getting market research and competitive intelligence data to set achieve my digital marketing goals.
I like being able to access traffic information in an easy way.
the keywords, something doesn't seem to work 100%
I can have a broader view in relation to competitors and also about new customers, I can use this information to draw up a winning plan
Similarweb makes it ultra simple to view channel splits by brand at a market level, providing competitive insights at a glance. The view of search keyword overlap for brand and non brand keywords allows a deeper analysis of how your business is doing in terms of share of search with its competitors.
I feel like the app and display/social sections do need some work but these are being continually improved. I would like the ability to be able to edit branded terms for a website as this doesn't always work perfectly.
We are easily able to pull out market context for competitive reviews. The easy to use nature of the tool allows us to turn around business review insights and new business proposals quickly.
The friendly UX and a vast variety of tools.
The fact that some data doesn't seem to match, and it missed app data.
I can have an overview of my competitors landscape and it helps me focus on channels where my competitors are stronger.
Ease of utilisation and unlimited range of websites available for analysis.
Despite the possibility to create dashboards, there is limited options in terms of data presentation (no pivot) or graphs, it therefore required a lot of downloads and manual processing to obtain the desired visualisation. Very limited view on conversion data (few websites). Display and affiliation pre-set tables require a lot of manual cleaning. API credits quickly used. Accuracy of data?
Better understanding of market context and marketing opportunities (Search, display, affiliates)
The user interface is superb, the way it lets you track your estimated traffic by channel against top competitors is also a great touch. The support staff seems very knowledgeable as well.
For the price I feel it should offer more substantial ways of actually improving your strategy, instead of focusing more on top-level competitor comparisons. In terms of SEO you wouldn't be able to rely on it as your only tool, for instance.
Similarweb was definitely useful for us to understand how we fared against our competitors and also how the market evolved for each player throughout the time, analysing if there were any outliers or not.
I like the interface and reporting that similar web has. The ease of the interface and the comprehensive options make it a complete solution.
The pricing is not straight forward. I would suggest that you inquire early.
Using Similarweb take s most of the guess work out of planning,
It gives an OK estimate of site traffic. For a PR pro, it's a necessary tool to track metrics. The Chrome extension aspect of it is a huge plus. Makes it quick, seamless process.
It's not as good as it's predecessor, Compete. UVM doesn't really exist. It seems to share general site traffic which doesn't always seem accurate. Sometimes it's too low and others too high. For the most part, it does the job. Like I said, it could be better but could also be way worse.
It helps us gather UVM/circulation for online news sites and publications. It does help justify some publications to our clients and give us intel when reporters aren't forthcoming with their metrics or media kits.
Good program to give you high level insights about a website’s traffic. Can then use this info to make advertising decisions, audience insights, etc.
Some of the information isn’t always useful. For example when referring traffic or other top visited sites lists google/Facebook/ etc.
We have used this when creativity digital advertising recommendations in order to get information on the prospective clients site, their audience as well as their competitors and industry insights.
SimilarWeb offers free plan for beginners that includes up to five results per metrics, one months of mobile app data and three months , which is great for startup company. I like the feature where you can compare your website results with your competitors' website results and see it in comparison on one screen - it is very convenient and gives many insights.
Website and mobile app data that showed on similar web sometimes incorrect. I compared data in our Google Analytics and on SimilarWeb and have to say that Google Analytics is much more accurate and process new data much faster..
With SimilarWeb I get insights about website strategy of companies I am interested in, do keywords planning and analysis and simply track our website traffic in comparison with our main competitors.
User experience is sup easy. Even if you have no experience with the platform, it is easy to figure out quickly.
I feel like the data could be a bit more accurate. I also wish you could view more mobile data.
It helps us with our competitive report to see at a high level where are website traffic compares.
I like that similar web offers many things to dive deep into leaving various opportunities to find gaps
I think it is a little difficult to find things, i wish i could see numbers from an app perspective, and it was easier to find training videos
Similarweb helps us see where our users going navigating on each customer and if certains tests are working from a traffic perspective
The most helpful aspect of Similarweb is it gives you a visual idea of the overlap between your organization and your competitors.
The metrics that are compared when doing competitive analysis are not always relevant or useful.
Similarweb helps identify competitors in a given vertical, and shows you their approximate market share. This is helpful because you can see which competitors you're closest to.
Using Similarweb has been greatly beneficial for my role and my company when we are assessing our website traffic and what specifically is driving and engaging our readers. We also find it supportive to compare our site to others so we're able to grasp the landscape.
I wish there were more opportunities to get more granular and specific within Similiarweb. For example, we'd love to be able to see what content or what webpages are the most popular/topics.
As I listed above, Similarweb gives us access to our website traffic. Digital is highly desired by our clients, and feeding them this information is extremely valuable. Our clients appreciate and need the specificity of Similarweb's data.
I like that you're able see stats and linking information for other websites and compare it to your own.
I dislike that there seems to be no end to the level of 'premium'. There's always another feature that you need to upgrade to in order to access.
I'm able to do SEO research and excellent competitor research, looking deeper into competitor strategy.
Web analytics at a place can be found...
Fails for some of the websites due to which I have to go looking for alternatives
Helps in understanding the quality of business I would be working with
Its helpful to get a basic view of how much traffic our competitors are getting
Far too many features like CVR tracking are kept behind additional paywalls.
It helps us keep tracking of how fast we are growing in relation to our competitors and if there are any channels we should be focusing more or less on to compete with them.
Decent interface and features. Decent interface and features.
Not much. Everything was easy to use. Not much. Everything was easy to use.
Bussiness interligence. Competition performance and tactis.
Very good tool to analyse all aspects of the performance of website, including benchmarking
Very descriptive in nature, hard to gain any unique, original or specific insights
Understanding more about the characteristics of an audience visiting specific websites
The ability to compare against almost any other website in the world, looking at key metrics such as website visits, unique visitors, number of pages visited, etc
There is a limitation to the geographical split of the data. The overall metrics are not available at a country level and when compared against other websites.
Ability to benchmark ourselves against competitions and help support sales narrative.
The plugin is really helpful! I look the easy to use interface as well.
I'd like more options to find competitions and ways to filter by brands that spend a lot on Display.
This is really helping me find me clients to prospect and education on their core business. So far the competitor feature is the most imporatnt in finding similair brands.
SimilarWeb Pro is helpful to learn how to spot new potential partners (retailers) and efficiently analyze their performance and audience. I have used it to analyze performance of retailers in my industry. I found it easy to compare our competitors’ performance at category level.
The tool is limited because it can be hard to get SKU-specific data. Depending on the retailer, it can be hard to drill down into multi-category retailers if they do not operate in one category type (i.e. health, beauty, etc.). It is better for a general consensus of site traffic. Sometimes there are issues logging into the tool.
It is helpful to put quantitative site metrics to sales data we are receiving from our retailers. It would be more useful if our rep was in constant contact with our team to provide regular trainings and recap reports.
The interface, navigation and tips, very easy to understand
Too many emails that i received after registration. This is a minus point for me
Tracking performance, check oyjrt companies.
When planning the digital strategy of my business, we did everything manually, after discussing with a multidisciplinary team and debating for hours and hours about what direction my business strategy should take, with SimilarWeb Pro I can leave all that. aside since I can perform all these tasks from the application and it even gives me a detailed report with metrics and statistics that are quite useful when making a decision that sets the course of my digital strategy for my company
None, this tool has been very useful for me to improve the company's digital marketing.
i have been using it to improve my company's digital marketing strategy, since it was urgent for me to completely restructure my company since we were not obtaining the sales that we had planned at the beginning, so I went back to carry out the studies of segmentation and market for which this tool fell like a glove.
Shows me how many monthly visitors a website is getting
This product used to work very well. They updated the design of it & now it almost never works unless you're on a very popular website doing over 500K visits
Benefits are seeing monthly visitors it helps me estimate how many shipments/month an eCommerce store is doing. Problem are not working at all after they updated
Flexible API calls with robust documentation
Difficult to export files from platfrom Mobile vs desktop data split often noisy
Understanding relative performance of digital news publishers
