"Snowflake: A Robust Platform for Data Lake Building"
What do you like best about Snowflake?

I've found Snowflake to be a powerful and versatile solution for connecting multiple data sources. Snowflake really shines when it comes to handling data of all shapes and sizes. Snowflake is designed to be accessible to folks from all backgrounds, whether you're a tech whiz or just dipping your toes into the data lake world. The SQL-based approach makes managing and querying data lakes a breeze. Snowflake's cloud-native setup ensures things run smoothly. So, you can count on optimal performance even when you're dealing with heavy data workloads. Queries run efficiently, and concurrency, making it relaible for ad hoc analytics and reporting.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

It takes some time to get familiarized with their UI. While Snowflake is user-friendly, those new to cloud-based data lake platforms will need some time and patience to get caught up. However, Snowflake provides lots of documentation and resources help mitigate this challenge.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed a centrailized space to build a data lake. Snowflake can integrate with mulitple CRMs. It's like the social butterfly of data platforms as we are conencting Google Cloud Storage. They have lots of options for payment plans based on your data load. We are now saving money by deploying a centralized data front.

"Snowflake - Best out there!"
What do you like best about Snowflake?

Snowflake's architecture is build for scalability. The data sharing capabilities are exceptional; ot requires literally zero maintainince. I would rate Snowflake the best out there in terms of easy of use, support and value for money. Pretty much everything about Snowflake is great!

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

The only disadvantage I can see is it being slightly expensive. If you're a very early stage organization, I wouldn;t recommend spending a lot until you have a 5-6 person data team to set up the infrastructure.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Snowflake as a central place to manage, modify, combine and organize data. Snowflake acts as a central hub to pull in and push data to various tools and our CRM (Salesforce).

"One of the Best Datawarehouse Tool"
What do you like best about Snowflake?

Snowflake is one of the best datawarehouse cum ETL cum database tool. I like it's multiple features like 1) We can create multiple warehouses with different sizes and use them as per our requirment. Also the warehouse will suspend automatically when not in use. So you only pay what you use. Also it has many features. Below are few major among of them: 1) Data sharing for business need 2) Time travel, which helps us to debug in case of any bug or issue, retrive old data 3) Fail-Safe for disaster recovery 4) Stream to track SCD change 5) Task for scheduling

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

Snowflake does not enforced Primary Key concept in tables. So we need to create separate process to avoid duplicate data loading.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

Snowflake has many useful features, below are few among of them. 1) Data sharing. In Snowflake we easily can share data among multiple accounts. So without giving access to the main snowflake account we can share our data to another team for analysis. 2) Time travel, which helps us to debug in case of any bug or issue, retrive old data 3) Fail-Safe for disaster recovery 4) Stream to track SCD change 5) Task for scheduling

What do you like best about Snowflake?

The ever availability of core system processes. Ligtening fast query executions. Support from dedicated Snowflake Engineering team around the globe and 24/7 mode.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

The latency in set-up. The access heirarchy and time taken to go-live with the provided access credentials. Seldom system outages that are faced with unstable network.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

Snowflake is our back-bone of reporting. Snowflake facilitates the tableu reporting for our organization. The live data feeds translated to Snowflake level queries.

"Very soft-core DWH tech"
What do you like best about Snowflake?

I personally love having a contact a Snowflake that reaches out to me proactively and informs me of upcoming changes, configurations needed, etc. It seems like a very soft-core DWH tech which mostly aims to lower the barrier (and cost) for entry rather than offer the best DWH. I can see Redshift, Postgres, SQL Server etc. all be better if you have the necessary skills to manage it and money is not a big deal.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

There's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to understanding roles and access permissions, but Snowflake has a lot of documentation out there for it (which I find easier to understand than other DB's documentation).

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

If we want new features with SQL Server, we'd have to go through the process of upgrading it to the next version and doing all of the testing necessary (etc etc), but with Snowflake, new features get rolled out as they come, and they're available for use if you want to use them

"Snowflake is the best interface out there"
What do you like best about Snowflake?

Built in geospatial functions in Snowflake, easy way to search the db, easy way to see parsed json in one click before querying, and all around intuitive to use.

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

I don't like if you are working and accidentaly swipe to the left it kicks you back to the login screen. Super annoying. Also, when i work in snowsight to share queries when I save it and try to share with someone else it's still blank. Also stop trying to push snowsight on users. Snowsight has bugs (memory issues limits on big querys) and hidden stuff (uploading data), I just want a direct log in to the classic console.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

querying data for adhocs, build pipelines for visuals in Tableau or other products, and keep data organized, help with geospatial queries to identify lat/long within geometries

"Great Platform But With Limited Data Lake Support"
What do you like best about Snowflake?

1. The data is divided into smaller micro-partitions making the queries on the dataset super fast. 2. Awesome access control capabilities. 3. Getting support for Data Lake

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

1. Initial stages of data lake implementation and hence behind competitors. 2. Frequent formatting issues on the browser. 3. Too costly and therefore not suitable for low-scale business.

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem that Snowflake is solving is making queries run super fast no matter what size of the table queried upon, thanks to its micro partitions. The ability to do time travel and restore lost data is a boon for real.

Limitless Power to Tame the Data Storm The Flexibility that Adapts to Your Ever-Changing Needs A User-Friendly Journey to Data Exploration Architecture Unshakable Security for the data Overall, my experience with Snowflake is pretty good

What do you dislike about Snowflake?

It is a bit costly Integration with a legacy system is sometimes challenging It sometimes takes time to query complex queries or unoptimised queries Dependence on internet

What problems is Snowflake solving and how is that benefiting you?

For us we dump all the data into snowflake then we run complex queries on Snowflake and create Tableau dashboards on top of it to visualise the data and for better business understanding
