Upsides of utilizing Sovos is that once you upload your files, Sovos takes care of everything else. If anything does not click they will provide an update so you can resolve and reload the corrected file. At the end of it all, we receive a confirmation of the total amount of 1099s that were filed and in the event we have rejections, we will be notified of that as well.
There is really nothing that we don't dislike at the moment.
Sovos is providing our firm with up to date tax requirements for our yearly filing of our 1099s.
TIN verification is super easy and 1099 uploads are a breeze. The Sovos Team is easy to work with if there ever are issues to help you thru the process. I enjoy the ability to set up multiple users for the system with varying levels of access.
We honestly haven't had any issues with Sovos or any dislikes. We have used their system for quite a few years for tax reporting.
Our 1099s are filed thru Sovos - once uploaded and approved by me, they take care of the rest. They mail the forms to our vendors and file with the IRS on our behalf. Price is very reasonable compared with other products.
Sovos makes it convienent to check TINs against the vendors name as we on board new vendors. We use this feature on a daily basis. When it comes to uploading and doing a mass check on TINs we get very little errors when processing 1099s. When processing 1099s the Sovos team is very responsive when we have questions or issues. The product is a web based product so we can access it from anywhere and the implementation was very smooth. I would highly recommend their services.
I wish Sovos would send a curtisey email at the beginning of the year with the instructions on how to upload information into their system for 1099s. This would cover any changes that have been made and would be convient to have in case we have new people or can't locate what was used from a previous year.
It is reducing the amount of time spent processing 1099s and making sure our vendor setups match with the IRS database.
We had been on Booke for statutory reporting, and we moved over to Sovos when they were purchased. The experience has been really great. We still have the detailed help guides that Booke had, but there is additional features that we didn't have before, like being able to import PDFs into the software (we do our footnotes in a separate word document and then conver to PDF), and also the ability to export and import excel files of different schedules and make edits as necessary (such as Schedule F). They also have good customer support, and are helpul in answers questions that we have in a timely manner. I just think overall it has all the benefits fo the Booke software, but builds on it with additional new features that enhance the overall experience.
Coming from the Booke software, I think the Sovos validation checks is a little bit more confusing to follow. I am starting to understand it overall as I have used Sovos for about 3 years, but it just seemed more complicated on how to run it, as well as how to follow the trail, compared to the Booke software (at least at first). It can take a little bit of time to run PDFs of the statements to review outside of the system, but overall I don't have any dealbreakers that would make me switch to a different platform.
It makes our reporting very efficient and easy to meet our regular deadline involving reporting.
Simplicity of use. Sovos also keeps up-to-date with legal requirements so I don't have to. The Customer Support has been excellent with continued contact. Sovos is proactive and reaches out to us ahead of time when changes are coming.
Implementation was a bit of a challenge as we were moving from a long-time use vendor so lots of new technology to learn.
Sovos reports State tax for us as our Core vendor withdrew support for that function several years ago.
Intuitive cloud based solution that has outstanding customer support
I wish the Sovos UCP solution also supported Canadian province rules.
Unclaimed property management including filings and due dillegence letters
Have used Taxware since 2004. Now also using GTD
Sometimes customer service is hard to get glad we have direct contacts also
new state taxes and taxability of products
I started working on Sovos this past February. It was my first time trying this software, and I was impressed with how many ways there are to load the information. The best part is that you can work your financials in an excel workbook and import them in Sovos within seconds. You can also import PDFs. You can copy the previous statement or create a new one. It's just so easy and flexible.
So far, I can't say anything wrong about the software. The customer service has also been great. Every time I had an issue, I would get help within 1 hour from them. This makes it a great platform and a great company.
Sovos is the software we use for the statutory statements. I can map it directly from the TB and prepare the statements in a day. I think this is the dream for every accountat.
Easy to use, rapid response, good reporting
solving inquiries, reporting tax variances

There is nothing at this time that I could say does not work for me and our company when speaking about SOVOS. We have used the product for many years, and it has always been reliable.
We are registered in every state and even internationally. SOVOS allows me to be confident that the tax rates that we are charging our Fortune 500 companies are accurate and always updated.
