Storylane Pros and Cons
- Very rich feature set: guided demos, HTML sandbox, AI avatars, voiceovers, multi-language, embedding, lead capture, analytics.
- Flexible use cases across sales enablement, onboarding, marketing and product tours.
- Tiered plans enable starting small (Free/Starter) and scaling to enterprise.
- Strong integration ecosystem with CRMs, analytics and collaboration tools.
- Enterprise-level features available: SSO, whitelabel, API, SOC2/GDPR compliance.
- Steep price jump between Starter and Growth tiers; many advanced features gated behind higher tiers.
- Some features/integrations require minimum seat counts.
- Enterprise-level features require custom pricing and negotiation; public pricing limited beyond Premium.
- No evidence of self-hosting or open-source option, which may limit control for some customers.
Storylane provides an easy-to-use, highly intuitive alternative to traditional screen capture product demos. Akash, Maria and the team have been extremely helpful in onboarding us, sharing their knowledge about the platform, answering our questions, and taking onboard our feedback. It is very early days but our experience to date has been great and I'm looking forward to really putting Storylane to work in our product marketing, pre-sales, lead gen, website, and events activities and channels.
We just started using Storylane so no particular issues. Of course there are little 'convenience' things like the inability to pre-configure our entire Storylane instance in our brand colors rather than needing to update the colors for individual stories, but I understand why that functionality isn't offered, and it's easy enough to brand an entire story at once, so no big deal.
We have lacked a good way to show prospects our products without needed a pre-sales colleague to show them a demo using the application platform. Screen cap demos are difficult to make ourselves and expensive to outsource, and the level of ongoing innovation means they quickly become outdated. Storylane will give us a level of agility and dynamism that we have sorely needed.
I like how easy it is to capture a webpage and manipulate the elements via HTML. Adding steps is seamless and flexible as well. Customer support are very responsive! It's very easy to share the weblinks to clients.
I find that there are a few bugs still. When I try to place my step somewhere and type too much, the textbox goes off the page and I can't drag it around or edit it. I always need to edit the config of the node box (make it wider) before I add the text so I don't run into this problem. Placing the tooltips can be annoying with trying to pinpoint where you want the tool tip to appear. I also find that sometimes I take an HTML screenshot and elements don't line up as they should. I wanted to create a GIF of one of the Storylanes. It was not clear on how to do so, we had to reach out to support.
We operate a SaaS product and use Storylane to help demo the features and capabilities of the tool.
Easy to learn, easy to use, flexible, custom-branded, analytics tools, link personalization
Tiered pricing is confusing, lack of transparency around features and integrations
Storylane helps us create and distribute self-guided demos to generate leads when someone is not (yet) interested in jumping on a call with a sales agent.
The ability to allow users to explore your product at their own pace
The iFrame's can be a challenge to get them to sit in browser. Multilanguage support is also missing.
A one-to-many experience for the customer to test our applications without the need for a demo
Nice and simple tool - quite intuitive to use in a daily basis
Maybe better integrations options, nothing specific - just general improvements
Creating easy and interactive demos of our products for marketing
