Toptal community has professional career coaches, hiring managers, communities of practice, and different resources and opportunities outside of projects (e.g. learning and development; writing for the blog; volunteering). There is this great foundation for great experience as freelancer: vetting the clients and freelance professionals, making payments seamless and secure, and even finding the best jobs for you (I never had to search myself, although you of course could). But taking step further, there is this whole value of learning and support within Toptal, and sleek internal tools that improve continuously. And this is what I like best.
Getting in is hard, but I also love that it is a challenge, and if you make it, you can be proud you're in the top ~3% professionals. If I had to find something I dislike... I would appreciate if the payments were executed a bit faster: both in terms of shorter billing cycles, and the default time until invoices are due. But it is still totally ok as it is.
A great way to take on new jobs when needed and as much as needed - from a few hours to part time to full time. Working on interesting projects for great clients that are vetted, and making sure payments are secured and run smoothly.

Toptal gives us the opportunity of reaching enterprise clients from abroad, and then it allows us to charge the hourly rate that we want. We don't have to compete with another developers in an auction.
In long-term commitments, the client typically is not satisfied because the Toptal fee is not reduced with the time (even though Toptal isn't actively doing anything at all). Additionally, if the client wants to hire the employee directly, the buy-out fee is really expensive and doesn't decrease with time (which would be logical).
I've been able to reach international enterprise clients keeping a good financial safety, allowing us to become freelancers with much more ease. I'm getting paid much more than what it's typical in my country.
It's not just about finding jobs; there are plenty of growth opportunities, talking to other skilled people, work on your technical and communication skills.

Using the Toptal platform is incredibly intuitive, and the customer service is second to none. The onboarding process is swift and efficient.
The only thing I wish was a little different was more clarity for a short-term contract about having to give ten days' notice to end the engagement. I have ended up scheduling a long break until the end of the contract so I don't have to pay for when my contractor has finished the product.
