Hostinger Free Trial: There Isn't One, But the Refund Policy Is Better Than You'd Think

Hostinger doesn’t offer a free trial. Its own VPS page says so plainly, in the sense that it offers something else: “Try it risk-free with our 30-day money-back guarantee.”

That’s a one-word answer, so the useful thing is what the guarantee actually covers — and we read the policy rather than the marketing. Some of it is more generous than expected and some of it has traps.

What the 30 days actually is

Products may be refunded only if cancelled within 30 days of the transaction date. The policy is explicit that “the date of purchase” includes the date any renewal is processed.

That second part is worth pausing on, because it’s the single most useful thing in the document. If a renewal charges you at the higher rate — and Hostinger’s shared renewal is a 268% increase to $10.99 — you have 30 days from that charge to get it back. Most people assume the guarantee applies only to a first purchase. It doesn’t.

What’s covered and what isn’t

The policy lists products explicitly, which is unusually clear. The parts that matter:

Refundable under standard 30-day terms: hosting plans, KVM VPS, Minecraft Game Panel VPS, SSL certificates, daily backups, Cloudflare, Hostinger Email, Titan Email, priority support, WordPress addons and Dark Web Monitor.

Never refundable:

The upgrade exclusion is the one that will catch people. Buy a KVM VPS and change your mind — refundable. Buy it, upgrade to a larger tier, then change your mind — the upgrade is gone. So if you’re unsure about sizing, buy the tier you think you need rather than starting small and upgrading during the window.

Domains work completely differently

This is where the guarantee stops being a 30-day guarantee.

A new domain registration is refundable only within 96 hours — four days, not thirty — and only if more than 24 hours have passed since your last domain refund. For .br domains it’s 168 hours.

And a long list of country extensions cannot be refunded at all, because the registries don’t permit it. The policy names roughly forty, including:

.uk (and .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk), .de, .fr, .eu, .ca, .in (and .co.in), .us, .es, .it, .nl, .be, .ch, .se, .dk, .cz, .pl, .hu, .lt, .lv, .jp, .ai, .asia, .cat, .nu, .ru

So if you take the “free domain” on a .co.uk, .de, .fr, .eu, .ca or .in, that registration is non-refundable from the moment it completes. The hosting is still refundable; the domain isn’t. That’s not Hostinger being difficult — it’s the registry rule — but it means your downside on a cancelled plan isn’t zero, and it’s larger for European and Canadian buyers than for .com buyers.

Using the window properly

The brief we worked from suggested buying the shortest qualifying term to minimise risk. At Hostinger that advice backfires, and it’s worth knowing why.

Hostinger doesn’t discount monthly billing at all. Its 1-month Premium plan is $11.99 renewing at $11.99 — no promotional rate, no discount — against $2.99/month on the 48-month term. The “safe” short term costs four times the long one.

Since the 30-day guarantee covers the long term just as well, buy the term you actually want and use the window. That’s the whole point of the guarantee existing.

A 30-day test plan, because the failure mode is drifting past day 31 having tested nothing:

• Week 1 — migrate something real, not a blank install. Your actual theme, plugins and database. A default WordPress tells you nothing about your stack.
• Week 2 — open a support ticket with a genuine question and time the reply. Restore a backup and confirm you got what you expected.
• Week 3 — put real traffic through it, check the control panel workflows you’ll use monthly, and test email deliverability if the site sends anything.
• Day 25 — decide. Not day 30, because a cancellation request needs processing time and the deadline is the request, not your intention.

The clause about repeat refunds

Worth knowing if you’re the sort to test several hosts: the policy states Hostinger “will not tolerate abusive usage of refunds”, naming refunding the same service repeatedly and buying in bulk to request refunds. Anything suspended or terminated for terms violations is also excluded.

That’s normal and reasonable, but it means the guarantee is a genuine try-before-you-commit mechanism rather than a rolling free month.

And if the policy doesn’t cover what you bought, there’s a second route worth knowing about in the EU: a statutory withdrawal right that works on different mechanics — shorter window, pro-rata rather than all-or-nothing, and usually waived at checkout without anyone noticing.

How we checked this

Everything here is from Hostinger’s own published refund policy, read on 17 August 2026 and showing a last-revised date of 30 June 2026, plus its VPS hosting page where the “Try it risk-free with our 30-day money-back guarantee” wording appears.

One reading we corrected before publishing. The policy’s refundable list reads “Hosting (all plans, except first payment after Free Trial and all VPS hosting plans)”, which on a first pass looks like VPS is excluded from the guarantee entirely. It isn’t — VPS appears separately in the same list as “KVM VPS (except upgrades)” and “Minecraft (Game Panel) VPS (except upgrades)”, so the parenthetical is separating VPS out of the Hosting line rather than excluding it. We checked because publishing “your VPS isn’t refundable” would have been a serious error.

The reference to a “Free Trial” in that exclusion suggests a trial exists for some Hostinger product. We could not determine which, and no trial is offered on the shared or VPS hosting this article is about.

The ccTLD list is abridged. The policy names roughly forty extensions whose registries don’t permit refunds; we’ve quoted the ones most likely to affect readers rather than reproducing all of them. Check the policy for your specific extension before assuming.

What we did not do: purchase a plan, request a refund, test the cancellation path, or measure how long a refund takes to arrive by payment method. The brief asked for refund timing by method and we don’t have it — the policy we read doesn’t state it, and we’re not going to estimate. The 30-day test plan is the schedule we’d follow, not one we’ve run.
