"ATOM needs some improvement"
What do you like best about Atom?

It's Open Source and you can contribute to the code if you can/want to make it better. It's developed by Github and there's a public Github repository where you can submit pull requests. It's based on the latest version of Chromium, so it's pretty much cross-platform. People actively contributing to the project and adding more and more packages. UI is customizable using Less. This is useful if you like to customize your stuff or improve existing themes.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Sessions are not saved by default in Atom core, there's a package that does the job for now (https://github.com/mpeterson2/save-session). Sublime does it by default. Needs some performance improvements, sometimes it gets unresponsive after opening a bunch of files at once. UI needs some improvement and refinement in my opinion.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm using Atom as editor only, I'm not using it as IDE, as an editor is great overall but it needs some improvement, given that it's becoming popular very fast I'm sure it's going to get better and better and will become a serious competitor for Sublime.

"Efficient in code editing"
What do you like best about Atom?

Atom has been used for years by our company and it is perceived to be most efficient software to provide graphical interface. And people tend to use the application for their personal use as well. GitHub deserves a big thanks for making Atom such enormous progressive app, it also possesses constant advancements. The best thing in Atom is that it provides with the graphical interface which is one of the outstanding known in other editors except Vsc. it has different themes some of which are default and others can be used through plugins. The dark theme which it provides bt default is the best of them all because it protects your eyes from any damage by working for hours on daily basis. Things that are most useful: -It is visually beautiful and through its themes & fonts Eyes has soothing feeling. -It is very easy to use as you can edit and customize things according to your need. -You just have to place the editor in which part you want to edit and it will fix accordingly. -It consumes less power of CPU.

What do you dislike about Atom?

The disadvantage it has is that it consumes higher RAM even when you are working on a small project however the consumption of CPU remains low.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Atom is used to edit the projects based on programming for Java and PHP . It is also used to edit the files like HTML and CSS

"One of the best IDEs nowadays, freeware and supported by GIT"
What do you like best about Atom?

Git integration , node.js based plugins and all the personalisations options you have. There is a huge community creating plugins for it, and is easy to find one that suit your needs however is also pretty easy to create one yourself.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Nothing actually, maybe some better alternatives appeared recently that maybe are shadowing this cool coding IDE.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

You can use a really useful IDE just for free. We save a lot of money migrating from paid licensed and we have almost the same functionality just for free

"Aesthetic but not very efficient "
What do you like best about Atom?

the editor is very aesthetically pleasing and looks sleek. The Ui is very well done

What do you dislike about Atom?

the program freezes quite often and takes excessive time in startup. I noticed that it slowed down my laptop when i used it. The auto save element could be better in the event of unknown crashes

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

development.. The extensions are nice to use such as the html preview extension

"I used to love atom, but vs code won"
What do you like best about Atom?

Hackability. Using the web stack. Giving the world Electron ❤️

What do you dislike about Atom?

It was great at first. But with time configuring became harder and harder and I spent more time fixing or debugging the editor than using it. Alot of conflicting addons and not clear which way is the best way to support some feature

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

As a developer I used to use it daily for sure.

"Acceptable Text Editor"
What do you like best about Atom?

I like the plugin model and that there is a great community around it. I tried this product for approximately 2 months but as a VIM user, I found it hard to transition too. That being said, I went back to VIM.

What do you dislike about Atom?

The performance was the biggest off for me. In opening larger files, it became unresponsive on several occasions. Also, I found it hard to manage plugins at times.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Writing code for the main software as a service that we provide.

"Promising Editor but is no Sublime Text... Yet?"
What do you like best about Atom?

I like that this editor is based on HTML and CSS. I like that it has themes for syntax as well as for the UI. I like that that are already a great selection of plugins or packages to help enhance this product.

What do you dislike about Atom?

I don't like the UI of this editor. It's not very intuitive. I don't like how the SFTP packages out there look or behave. I wish this editor had a built-in FTP/SFTP file browser. I especially don't like how often this editor locks up in Windows 7 64bit so many times when I make changes to the settings or am saving a file.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use this to create and edit customer portals. Its simplicity and price (free) make it a worthy candidate as our permanent editor.

"Used to be an interesting text editor"
What do you like best about Atom?

Atom was my to-go rich text editor in the past. I used it a lot in parallel of my IDE when working on big projects.

What do you dislike about Atom?

The fact that there's no more development on Atom is a show stopper. I now use another editor because of that.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I helped me editing files when a full-blown IDE was just too big for the need.

"Atom, modify code."
What do you like best about Atom?

It is the best application for modifying errors or making any type of changes in your code or configuration files. GitHub introduces an advanced and simple design application that helps you edit text and write programs. It is used to support C++, JAVA, HTML and more files.

What do you dislike about Atom?

It can't run smoothly on 4-8GB RAMS because it requires a lot of RAM to get the job done. Atom does not work properly for low RAM devices running other applications in the background.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Whenever we encounter some bugs or problems with correcting the code,we don't have to use heavy software like the IDE that takes too long to load and open, because Atom tends to handle all problems faster and more efficiently.

"Wasn't super pleased with Atom"
What do you like best about Atom?

The user interface was really pretty and I trust github to make good products so I was happy it came from them.

What do you dislike about Atom?

It was clunky. I thought I would enjoy it, and thought it would be smooth because github made it, but I found it it to be less than great. It was slow and buggy and I switched back to sublime after a week of using it.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's a text editor for writing code with.

"I have high hopes for this editor, but it is really slow"
What do you like best about Atom?

The code completion is great. The aesthetics are nice and crisp. The amount of available packages is great, and the developers seem to push out releases on a regular basis.

What do you dislike about Atom?

want to really love using this editor, but the fact remains that for me, it is really, really, slow. It isn't as responsive as Sublime-- the initial load on a new install with a handful of packages is borderline ridiculous. Once the data is loaded, subsequent loads aren't as bad, but still sluggish.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I want to use a text editor when not in my IDE to do fast code manipulation, and be able to spot careless typos when using a language that is supported in the syntax definitions.
