"The Last Editor for All, for Everything - Atom"
What do you like best about Atom?

The best thing about an atom is that it is highly customizable. From theme to processing, everything is under the control of the user. Along with this, you can even add packages for whatever language you code in and even add whatever compilers and interpreters you want it to work with. The next best thing about Atom is that you have git control over it which helps to make things super easy in terms of open sourcing.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Well, there is nothing I found yet to dislike in Atom. We can have some dedicated community where beginners can get help from experts and even directly from the Atom team.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was having a separate editor and compiler as I code in C++ and Python. This always made me look out for the file I created and then go for compilation and further processing. But now, since I have Atom, I have installed a relevant package to the editor itself, which can compile my file right then and there, producing me the results. It has solved my looking out for files I created as well be providing a File Structure just like actual MacOS Finder and Windows My Computer.

"Awesome bespoke editor"
What do you like best about Atom?

- modular, pick the plugins you love - moddable, hack your keymap / hotkeys / write scripts for your own actions and assign them the shortcuts - amazing for dynamic languages that don't require an IDE - lightweight

What do you dislike about Atom?

Not great for java ecosystem compared to intellij - just not as full featured

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have developed software at several companies large and small using atom as my primary editor

"Simplicity makes for a great IDE"
What do you like best about Atom?

Being able to run python scripts without having to open the terminal and try to remember my folder path. Syntax highlighting and customization make coding a breeze.

What do you dislike about Atom?

There isn't much to dislike. Full support for swift would be much appreciated.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am writing scripts in Python. The app is lightweight and reliable. It never hogs my machine's resources.

"My default text editor on my Mac (and it can do so much more!)"
What do you like best about Atom?

I really only use the basics of this tool, so it would be the option to prettify xmls, jsons, etc. The search/find/replace functionality I also like the dark mode a lot :-)

What do you dislike about Atom?

Nothing yet, I only use the basics options of this tool so it fits my needs (and more than that)

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

It mainly solves the issue that my Mac does not have a text editor in between textEdit.app and Word or something that makes working with xmls and jsons etc. easy (like Notepadd++ on a Windows machine)

"My best code editor!"
What do you like best about Atom?

I really like its lightweight solution! It is nothing for our CPU. You can add many plugins or additional features which can really help you to save your time and finish your projects on time, for example, code checker, or running in the app itself, or just the one which makes your code more alluring by ordering the codes. Ot the other hand you can easily integrate your codes from any other platforms or text editor which you need to work on it using atom. Atom's simplicity makes it now one of the best text editors for coders.

What do you dislike about Atom?

It gets very slow when you try to add a lot of plugins and it has quite high start-up timing when you open large projects to work on it. On the other hand, some programmers

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I work all my projects on it! It doesn't matter if it's a python or web development programs which really saves my time.

"Simple and efficient"
What do you like best about Atom?

Very manimilstic with no visual noise. Atom is a very good IDE to use when programming.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Atom lacks a terminal, which requires the use of an external terminal.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Atom allows for an efficient project directory browsing. It also provides dark themes that fits perfectly with its manimilstic UI. All good ingredients for a good programming experience.

"Atom: Best IDE"
What do you like best about Atom?

Atom has nice design. Atom has active package community. Atom concepts are similar to other IDE's concepts. So transition is not difficult. You can install few packages and start working on Atom. Free version is rich in features. I personally love the light and dark theme. Atom has many language support. Atom has software for Apple, Windows and Ubuntu.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Atom eats lot of CPU power. It's bit slow compared to sublime text. Sometimes takes time to start up and load. I think by default there’s no project managers but several packages offer that. If you install many packages, Atom will start giving you performance issues.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use atom as integrated development tool. I use it to code in Java, Javascript, Ruby, Python, Kotlin etc. I use it for programming and coding. We have integrated Atom with 3rd party plugins for web and mobile decelopment.

"Super customizable code editor"
What do you like best about Atom?

You can customize it so much that your code editor can be totally different from your friends not only in looks but also in functionality because so many plugins are available and many things can be thoughtfully customized in unexpected and fun ways. I was a JavaScript developer for a long time and my main tool was Atom, later changed to Java and Atom was still my main editor but the profiles didn't resemble each other at all.

What do you dislike about Atom?

It is not a bad thing on its own but since I enjoy playing with the customization options so much I normally end up tinkering with something new every few weeks and explaining how and why it works the way it does gets harder, especially when explaining something to a coworker and forgetting that a part of the task is automated thanks to the way I have Atom set up.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I tend to code a lot less with my current role but whenever I need to code something Atome is my weapon of choice.

"Great editor for coding in python or any programming language"
What do you like best about Atom?

It is really customizable for any needs and you don't have to do it yourself. As long as you have an internet connection you can grab any of the customization snippets or in my case, I got the snippets from my team leader ready to go to work with our APIs and Postman, it also has a direct connection to Git/GitHub so you don't need to leave the editor to commit, push or pull anymore.

What do you dislike about Atom?

It is a really cool editor but it isn't an IDE, it is perfect for my current needs since we are working with an API call at a time but I would not choose this as my main editor for a full development

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

After I finish the design of the API calls in postman I code them in python so it can be automated in other devices and I use Atom for that.

"My favorite tool to develop"
What do you like best about Atom?

It's really extensible and customizable in every way that I need and really easy to customize since it is open-source. I have my own addons to make my workflow more efficient and there are many addons like FormData to Postman that make API development easier a few clicks away. As advertised is hackable to the core so my Atom as an API tester may not even approach a java programer API

What do you dislike about Atom?

It's amazing but it isn't a full IDE, when dealing with heavier and more complex projects I tend to use Pycharm because it's easier to keep track of everything. It's a little harder to keep track of dependencies with Atom.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Python and API development and QA

"Rich Text Editor"
What do you like best about Atom?

ATOM is one of the best of text editors I enjoy using/ It's a fast program for generating any JavaScript frameworks, particularly in NodeJS. The program offers the right amount of features just by installing plugins. It supports the Git version control system, which has been very useful to me since I do not need an extra Git client software to implement their commands. ATOM also yields the best customizations through extensions thanks to GitHub.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Even though the interface is enjoyable and practical, when developing codes, I realized that I also have to own an account that I found hard to adapt and use. It is time-consuming since, as a beginner, one needs a lot of time to study and understand the program. Another thing that has not impress me about ATOM is that it is hard to install and configure in the Linux Operating System. The editor needs a lot of technical knowledge to install.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use the program to develop applications in NodeJS. I have been in a position to develop the applications in a better and faster way.

"Personalized & Robust"
What do you like best about Atom?

The ability to "hack" the editor to better suite my needs. There's solemnly a need that can't be met by Atom, and it's supported well by its community.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Probably not from the base app — more likely add-ons — but it often pushes my computer more than I feel like it should. Not really sure what's causing my fans to whirl when I'm just editing code, and not sure how to trouble shoot that internally in the app either.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

It allows me to work on several different projects & manage them all well, and be customized to my workflow. Pairs will with git. I personally use it a lot for html/css/js projects, and it allows for quick operations & clean code views.

It is a very useful application for coding as it can be used on Windows, Linux, etc. It has an autocomplete feature which helps to write code faster.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Something does not work as expected as it still needs some polish. Some of the codes are not present in the autocomplete feature.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is very helpful for me when I forget spellings some code, it's one of the main features that help me to complete it without wasting time and it is very easy and reliable to use.

Atom is highly configurable. Also, the Atom is full of packages that can be managed by the command line. Git integration feature is really nice.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Atom is a very heavy software. It takes a lot of time in starting. Also, it becomes slow when working with multiple tabs.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

"Code More Effectively With Atom"
What do you like best about Atom?

Atom is the code editor I use on a daily basis. Just about every feature I could possibly want for writing code is available either as a standard feature or an extension. It simply just works. Over many years I have used numerous editors and IDEs. Atom became my go to tool without even thinking about it after daily usage. I don't feel I miss out on more visual coding, and compared with similar tools I do not feel there are any better all around. I can't say that Atom is necessarily the best at everything in terms of features, but it has all or most of what I expect, without any unnecessary fluff. And there are few times that I can count where the interface caused me any headaches.

What do you dislike about Atom?

The one thing that seems apparent with Atom is on a lower powered machine it can sometimes be a bit slow. I'm not entirely sure the exact reason why in all cases. I had always assumed it was perhaps memory usage when having too many tabs open. But when I close tabs it doesn't seem to affect the RAM very much. There are a few times where certain features of Atom will open up based on accidental hitting of keystrokes, and it isn't always obvious how to make them go away. I have gotten used to that, but it could be more intuitive. The other annoyances are minor, and cannot claim they a big dislikes.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

I need a great tool for coding. Atom delivers. It supports all the languages I use on a regular basis in terms of syntax highlighting. It supports projects and directories. It has a clean interface. And so many more details. There are a few editors that come close, but none quite so good. And it works well as a plain text editor too!

"Best Code editor for development"
What do you like best about Atom?

Atom is one of the best editor and seamlessly integrates with Git workflow CI and CD. reviewing merge request with atom editor is also seamless and we use atom for more than 2 years and it's stable for development across linux, windows and mac. Our organization have adopted atom editor for its stableness and opensource. The updates for the atom editor makes the editor more usable and theme support, auto complete feature is one of my favorite feature.

"Makes a software developer's life more easy"
What do you like best about Atom?

Here are the top things I like about atom, this list is a top features I like list Open source: While sublime text is also one of my most favourite text editors, it is not open source, on the other hand Atom is fully open source and it gives me the power or customization. Smart autocomplete: Atom fills in my variable names, function names and pre built constructs, it also matches brackets for me and stops syntax errors even before they happen. Powerful find and replace: Atom's find and replace is not a standard find an replace that is found in word processors, it has powerful Regular expression based finding and overall project based finding that helps us navigate the code flow. Goes hand in hand with Git: Atom is a text editor owned by Github and so it has native git integration, it is possible to stage and commit code from right within the app.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Atom is built on top of Chromium (electron framework), this is both a blessing and a curse, while it is easy to to customize atom with HTML, CSS and JS, it becomes a pain when it comes to memory consumption, a simple text editor should not consume so much RAM.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Atom lets me edit code and maintain large repositories of code possible. Without ATOM I would be wasting my time on a lot of trivial tasks.

"Atom an Awesome code editor!"
What do you like best about Atom?

The simplicity of this program is what I think makes it amazing. To say simple does not mean that it has few characteristics, rather that the characteristics it has are simple to use, powerful, dynamic, intuitive and very functional. Atom is an editor that manages to perfectly mix the most important elements that a code editor needs, with amazing cleaning, this makes atom an easy-to-use software, as well as powerful.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Although I think atom is a simple but effective code editor, it fails to integrate functions beyond writing and editing code comfortably. I personally think that atom should integrate more tools, which is not difficult considering its great alliance with GitHub and also should offer more customization as far as the editor is concerned.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Atom to date has been the second code editor that I have used most after VS code. therefore in the course of my career I have developed several softwares and functions with him. These softwares range from simple CRUDs, to more sophisticated business management systems. In addition, most of my university projects were done with atom.

The coding environment in atom is highly customizable, for increased productivity like applying code formatting on save or saving a code file when the window loses focus. It has a great eco-system of packages with documentations and source code hosted on github

What do you like best about Atom?

Atom is a new entrant to text editing software market. It is packed with a lot of features. Personally, I like that you can code your own Atom, since it is open-source. I have created number of plugins that I shared on community forums and I also downloaded some addins from these forums.

What do you dislike about Atom?

"My favourite Text Editing Software"
What do you like best about Atom?

Atom is a really great text editing application. Its biggest pros are integration with GitHub. You can easily pull requests and do any operation with this application. I think Atom offers users great collaboration services, it is very easy for multiple users to collaborate and work on the same file. In addition to its outstanding features, Atom is an open-source application which makes it highly customizable.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Atom autocomplete feature seems to be buggy if you are using this software solely for coding. If language is not recognized or supported you need to install plugins which are very tedious things to do.

"Really Great Text Editor"
What do you like best about Atom?

Atom is the application that I came across a year ago. Since then, it has become my daily driver. It is full of features and customization possibilities are nearly endless. Everyone can customize its functionality and make it do whatever they want. In addition to its features and user-friendly interface, the application is free to use and open-source.

What do you dislike about Atom?

Comparing Atom with other text editors, it seems to me that advantages are obvious. When it comes to weaknesses, one big weakness for Atom is compatibility. It only works on Windows devices. Personally, I have no problem with that, but there are people who desperately want to have it on other operating systems.

What problems is Atom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Assigning shortcuts on text editor seems to increase my efficiency by decreasing the time I need to do something manually. Not only that its smart autocompletion also helped me on countless occasions.
