Bolt for Business Expert Review

Bolt for Business has no price, and that is not evasion — there genuinely is not one. Bolt’s own words: “No sign-up or subscription fees. Get a Bolt for Business account for free today”, with “no activation costs or minimum commitment”. You pay for rides at Bolt’s normal fares and nothing else. What that leaves is a different question from every other product in this series: not what does it cost, but do you need the company account at all — because Bolt also gives individuals a free Work Profile that solves most of the same problem.

  • What it is: A company account for managing and paying for staff rides, rentals and food across Bolt.
  • Best for: Teams whose people already take taxis for work and expense them one by one.
  • Pricing: Free to open. You pay only for the rides taken. Verified August 2026.
  • The honest catch: A solo user or two may not need it — the Work Profile is free and separate.

What Is Bolt for Business?

Bolt for Business is the corporate layer over Bolt’s consumer platform. Rather than staff booking personal rides and claiming them back, the company holds an account, sets the rules, and receives one bill.

The control side is what you are actually adopting: custom spending limits and rules, employees organised into groups with specific limits, expense codes attached to each trip, real-time updates when people travel, and automated ride reports for admins. Setup includes a bulk upload tool for adding staff.

The billing side consolidates everything into a single invoice covering the whole team, with third-party expense platform integrations to remove manual claims entirely.

It is not only taxis. The account also covers Bolt Drive car rental, e-scooters and e-bikes, and Bolt Food for Business — though Bolt notes that “car, e-scooter and e-bike rentals are available in select territories”.

Bolt cites 50,000+ businesses, a network of 4.5 million drivers across 50 countries, and states that Business Account rides are certified CarbonNeutral®.

How Bolt for Business Works

  • No subscription, sign-up fee or minimum commitment.
  • You pay only for rides taken, at standard Bolt fares.
  • A free Work Profile exists separately, for individuals.
  • Carbon offsetting applies to Business Accounts only.
  • Rentals and scooters are territory-limited.
  • Expense integrations with Concur, Rydoo, Expensify and Zoho Expense.

Bolt for Business Pricing

There is no price list, because there is no product fee. The real decision is which of two free options fits.

What actually decides your cost:

  • There is nothing to pay for the software, and that changes how to evaluate it. Bolt states plainly: “No sign-up or subscription fees” and “no activation costs or minimum commitment”. Every other product in this review series is a subscription decision; this one is not. The only money involved is the fares your team would have spent anyway, so the question is whether the admin layer saves more time than it costs to set up — not whether it is worth a monthly fee.
  • For one person, the free Work Profile probably already solves it. Bolt’s Work Profile is “a free feature in the Bolt app” that separates work and personal payment methods, puts your company details on receipts, emails those receipts automatically as expense claims, and connects to SAP Concur, Rydoo, Expensify and Zoho Expense. That is the entire personal-expensing problem, solved, without a company account. What the Business account adds is control: limits, rules, groups, codes, a dashboard and one invoice. If nobody needs to control anything, you may not need it.
  • The Work Profile is not available everywhere, and that is the one case where the account is forced. Bolt’s own FAQ: “Work Profiles can be created in most countries where we operate but not all. If you live in a country where we’re currently unable to offer Work Profiles, such as Hungary, you may want to consider a Bolt for Business account.” So in some markets the company account is the only route to clean work expensing — worth checking against the countries your staff actually travel in.
  • Carbon offsetting applies to Business Account rides only. Bolt’s wording is precise: “Bolt for Business rides (Business Accounts only) are certified CarbonNeutral®”. Rides taken on a personal Work Profile are not covered. For an organisation with reporting obligations or a sustainability commitment, that parenthetical is the single strongest argument for the company account, and it is easy to miss.
  • The consolidated invoice is the real administrative win. One bill for the whole team, instead of every employee filing claims and finance reconciling them individually. Combined with automated ride reports and expense codes attached at booking, that removes a recurring monthly task rather than a one-off. Whether that is worth the setup depends mostly on how many people ride and how often.
  • Ride fares are not published, and they are the entire cost. Bolt says rides are “always economically priced” and offers “competitive pricing for every ride” — but fares are dynamic and vary by city, so no rate can be quoted or compared here. Anyone modelling a switch from another provider should compare actual fares on their own routes, because that comparison is the whole decision and nothing on the marketing site helps with it.
  • Only some of the catalogue is available in any given market. Bolt Drive car rental, e-scooters and e-bikes carry an explicit asterisk: “available in select territories”. If part of the appeal is replacing company cars with Bolt Drive, confirm availability in your cities before assuming the full offering applies.
  • The spending controls are the product. Custom limits, group-level rules, real-time travel updates and expense codes are what distinguish this from staff simply taking taxis. If your problem is unpredictable travel spend rather than expense paperwork, this is the half that matters.
  • The affiliate link tracks correctly. /go/bolt-for-business returns 200 and lands directly on business.bolt.eu/signup with the PartnerStack parameters intact, setting _ps_partner_key, _ps_xid, _gsxid and _grsmpk with a 90-day window. Note it goes straight to account creation rather than a marketing page.

Who Should Use Bolt for Business

  • Teams already expensing taxis individually. One invoice replaces a monthly pile of claims.
  • Companies with travel budgets to enforce. Limits, groups and rules are the point.
  • Organisations reporting on emissions. CarbonNeutral® certification applies only to Business Accounts.
  • Businesses in Bolt’s strongest markets. Coverage is Europe-centred, 50 countries.

It fits poorly for a single freelancer, who is better served by the free Work Profile; for companies operating where Bolt’s coverage is thin; and for anyone expecting Bolt Drive or scooters everywhere, since those are territory-limited.

Honest Pros and Cons

Strengths

  • Genuinely free — no sign-up fee, subscription or minimum commitment.
  • One consolidated invoice for the whole team.
  • Spending limits, groups and travel rules for budget control.
  • Expense codes attached at booking, visible in ride reports.
  • CarbonNeutral® certified Business Account rides.
  • Covers rides, rentals, scooters and food on one account.

Limitations

  • Fares are not published, and they are the entire cost.
  • A free Work Profile may make the account unnecessary for individuals.
  • Carbon offsetting excludes Work Profile rides.
  • Bolt Drive, scooters and bikes are territory-limited.
  • Work Profiles are unavailable in some countries, such as Hungary.
  • Coverage is strongest in Europe, thinner elsewhere.

Bolt for Business Alternatives and How It Compares

  • Uber for Business is the closest equivalent and has broader coverage outside Europe.
  • FREE NOW for Business and Gett compete directly in European corporate ground transport.
  • Zoho Expense and SAP Concur are the expense platforms Bolt integrates with rather than replaces.
  • Company cards plus a receipt policy remains the zero-setup baseline, at the cost of the control layer.

The Verdict

Bolt for Business is unusual in this review series because there is nothing to buy. “No sign-up or subscription fees”, “no activation costs or minimum commitment” — you open the account free and pay only for rides your team would have taken anyway. That removes the question this series usually spends most of its time on, and replaces it with a better one: do you need the company account, or does the free Work Profile already cover you?

That distinction deserves more attention than Bolt’s marketing gives it. The Work Profile is a free feature inside the ordinary Bolt app. It separates work and personal payment methods, puts your company details on every work receipt, automatically emails those receipts as expense claims, and integrates with SAP Concur, Rydoo, Expensify and Zoho Expense. For a freelancer or a two-person business, that is the entire problem solved with no company account, no admin and no setup.

What the Business account adds is control rather than convenience: a central dashboard, spending limits and travel rules, employees in groups, expense codes attached at booking, bulk team upload, automated ride reports for admins, and one consolidated invoice instead of many individual claims. If your difficulty is that finance reconciles thirty separate taxi claims a month, or that travel spend is unpredictable, that is exactly the right shape of fix. If your difficulty is only that one person hates filling in expense forms, it is more machinery than you need.

Two details are easy to miss and both favour the company account in specific circumstances. Carbon offsetting applies to Business Account rides only — Bolt’s wording is explicitly ”(Business Accounts only)” — so any organisation reporting on emissions has a concrete reason to adopt it. And Work Profiles are not available in every country Bolt operates in; Bolt names Hungary as an example and directs those users to a Business account instead. Check your team’s actual travel markets.

The honest limitation of any review here is that the cost is entirely in the fares, and Bolt publishes none. Its marketing says rides are “always economically priced” and offers “competitive pricing for every ride”, but fares are dynamic and vary by city, so no comparison against Uber, FREE NOW or a local taxi firm can be made from published material. If you are switching providers to save money, run that comparison on your own routes — it is the only number that matters and it is not on the website.

Finally, note that Bolt Drive car rental, e-scooters and e-bikes are marked “available in select territories”. If replacing company cars with on-demand rental is part of the appeal, confirm availability in your cities before treating the full catalogue as given.

Given that opening the account costs nothing and commits you to nothing, the sensible approach is to open one, add a handful of staff, and see whether the reports and single invoice actually remove work. There is no financial risk in finding out.

FAQ

How much does Bolt for Business cost?

Nothing to set up or run. Bolt states there are “no sign-up or subscription fees” and “no activation costs or minimum commitment” — you pay only for the rides, rentals and orders your team actually takes, at Bolt’s standard fares. Those fares are dynamic and vary by city, and Bolt does not publish them, so the real cost can only be established by comparing prices on your own routes.

Do I need a Bolt for Business account, or is the Work Profile enough?

For an individual, the free Work Profile in the Bolt app is often enough: it separates work and personal payment methods, adds company details to receipts, emails those receipts automatically as expense claims, and connects to SAP Concur, Rydoo, Expensify and Zoho Expense. A Business account adds company-level control — a dashboard, spending limits, travel rules, employee groups, expense codes, bulk upload, admin ride reports and a single consolidated invoice. Choose it when someone needs to govern the spending, not just record it.

Are Bolt for Business rides carbon neutral?

Business Account rides are. Bolt’s wording is specific: “Bolt for Business rides (Business Accounts only) are certified CarbonNeutral®”, and all Bolt scooter and e-bike rides are certified too. Rides taken on a personal Work Profile are not covered by that offsetting — which is a concrete reason for organisations with emissions reporting obligations to use the company account.

What can a Bolt for Business account be used for besides taxis?

Three other things: Bolt Drive car rental as an alternative to company cars, e-scooters and e-bikes for short journeys, and Bolt Food for Business for team catering. All sit on the same account and invoice. Note Bolt’s own caveat that car, e-scooter and e-bike rentals are “available in select territories”, so the full catalogue may not exist in your cities.

Is Bolt for Business available in my country?

The Business account is available across Bolt’s network, which the company describes as 4.5 million drivers across 50 countries, weighted towards Europe. The Work Profile is narrower — Bolt states it can be created “in most countries where we operate but not all”, naming Hungary as an example where it is unavailable and recommending a Business account instead. Check both against the markets your staff actually travel in.
