Carepatron Pros and Cons
- Meaningful free tier with telehealth, billing and AI note-taking
- Modern, clean interface and strong core functionality for scheduling, documentation and communication
- International reach with multi-currency/language and compliance support
- Public API and integration/technology partner program
- Competitive pricing compared to larger EHR vendors
- Advanced features (roles, white-labeling, premium support) are restricted to higher tiers and per-user pricing can scale for larger teams
- E-prescribing appears new and not fully mature/available yet
- May lack deep specialty-specific templates or workflows compared with large specialty EHRs
- Reporting and analytics may be less customizable than major enterprise EHR systems
Carepatron runs four different discounts on one pricing page, and the best one is not printed on any plan card. The cards advertise 50% off for six months — €13.50 instead of €27 on the Plus plan. The toggle above them offers 20% off for paying yearly. And a purple banner across the top, the kind most people dismiss, offers 50% off the whole year with the code WELLNESSANNUAL. Taken alone against the €27 list price, that banner code works out at €162 for a first year against €243 for the offer the cards actually show.
- What it is: Practice management and EHR for clinicians — scheduling, telehealth, notes, billing.
- Best for: Solo practitioners and small clinics, especially in behavioural and allied health.
- Pricing: Free tier; Plus €27/mo list, Advanced €33/mo, before any of four discounts. Verified August 2026.
- The honest catch: Work out which offer you are taking before you click, not after.
What Is Carepatron?
Carepatron is an all-in-one platform for healthcare practices: scheduling and online booking, built-in telehealth video, clinical notes, e-prescribing, invoicing and insurance, and online payments. It targets a wide span of practitioner types — counselors, psychologists and therapists on the behavioural side; physicians, nurses and psychiatrists on the medical side; dietitians, physiotherapists and social workers in allied health; and coaches, chiropractors and massage therapists in wellness.
The Findstack listing carries 128 user reviews, which is a substantial independent sample for this category.
The workflow is organised in three stages — Connect (fill the calendar), Care (run the session), Complete (wrap it up) — with an AI Scribe doing the documentation. That scribe is the notable inclusion, and it appears where you would not expect it.
How Carepatron Works
The free plan is unusually complete for healthcare software. It includes unlimited clients, telehealth, a client portal, automated online payments and the AI scribe and note taker — the last of which most competitors reserve for a paid tier or sell as an add-on.
Two limits define it. Storage is 1GB, and the comparison table lists 100 appointments against “Unlimited” on the paid plans. A practitioner seeing twenty clients a week reaches a hundred appointments inside two months, so the free tier is a genuine working product with a genuine ceiling rather than a permanent solution.
The features that separate free from paid are mostly operational rather than clinical: appointment reminders, calendar sync, telehealth chat, group appointments, custom branding and contact and public forms are all absent from Free. Reminders in particular are the sort of thing a practice discovers it needs after the second no-show.
Plus adds unlimited storage, advanced workflows, group telehealth and scheduling, a shared inbox and custom branding. Advanced adds roles and permissions, white labeling, 90-day deleted-data retention, a 1:1 onboarding manager and premium support.
Carepatron Pricing
| Plan | List | Displayed promo | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | — | 1GB, 100 appointments |
| Plus | €27/mo | €13.50/mo for 6 months | Unlimited |
| Advanced | €33/mo | €16.50/mo for 6 months | Unlimited |
Prices are served in euros to European visitors. Larger practices are directed to sales. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card, and the free plan needs no trial at all.
Four offers, one page
Every one of these was live on the pricing page at the same time:
- WELLNESSANNUAL — 50% off the year, in the top banner. On a €27 plan: €162 for twelve months.
- Save 50% for 6 months — the badge on the cards. Six months at €13.50 then six at €27: €243.
- WELLNESS — €1 a month for three months, also in the banner. Three at €1 then nine at €27: €246.
- Pay yearly (20% off) — the toggle above the table. €27 × 0.8 × 12: €259.20.
The spread between best and worst is €97 on a €324 list price — roughly 30% of the first year, decided entirely by which advertised offer you happen to act on. The cheapest is in the banner; the most expensive is the toggle sitting directly above the plans.
We could not verify whether any of these combine, and the “Pay yearly” toggle did not change the displayed prices when we operated it, so the annual figures above are computed from the stated 20% rather than read from the page. Ask support which offer applies and whether codes stack before you subscribe — on these numbers that conversation is worth about €100.
One smaller inconsistency: the banner quotes “$1/m” in dollars on a page otherwise priced in euros.
What actually decides your cost
- Which discount you use. This is worth more than the difference between the two paid plans.
- Whether you need appointment reminders, which is the practical dividing line between Free and Plus.
- Your appointment volume, since Free caps at 100 where paid plans are unlimited.
- Storage, at 1GB free against unlimited paid — a real constraint once telehealth recordings and documents accumulate.
- Whether you need roles and permissions or white labeling, which is essentially all that separates Plus from Advanced at €6 a month.
Who Should Use Carepatron
Carepatron fits a solo clinician or a small practice, particularly in behavioural and allied health where the caseload is manageable and the administrative burden is the actual problem. The free tier is genuinely usable — AI scribe, telehealth and payments at €0 is a real offer, not a demo — and the step to Plus at €27 is modest against what a practice management system usually costs.
It fits less well for larger or multi-site practices, which are routed to sales, and for anyone who needs deep insurance billing workflows, where US-specific specialists tend to be stronger.
Honest Pros and Cons
What works well:
- An AI medical scribe on the free plan, which most competitors gate behind a paid tier or sell separately.
- Unlimited clients, telehealth, client portal and online payments at €0.
- A 14-day trial with no credit card, on top of a free tier that needs no trial.
- Plus to Advanced is only €6 a month, so the upper tier is not a punitive step.
- 128 user reviews on the Findstack listing — a real independent sample.
- Broad practitioner coverage across behavioural, medical, allied and wellness specialties.
- e-Prescribing and treatment plans included in the clinical workflow.
What to watch:
- Four simultaneous discounts, with a €97 first-year spread between the best and worst.
- The cheapest offer appears only in a dismissible banner, never on a plan card.
- The “Pay yearly” toggle did not change any displayed price in our captures, so the 20% is unverified.
- Free caps at 100 appointments despite advertising unlimited clients — the two are not the same thing.
- Appointment reminders are not on the free plan, which is a practical gap for a real practice.
- A dollar sign appears in a euro-priced banner.
- Promotional pricing is time-boxed, and no renewal price is discussed anywhere.
Carepatron Alternatives and How It Compares
- Jane is the closest direct competitor for allied health and multi-practitioner clinics, with stronger charting depth and a higher price.
- SimplePractice is the incumbent in US behavioural health and the first quote most therapists should get alongside this one.
- Healthie targets dietitians and nutrition practices specifically, with better programme and package handling.
- Cliniko is strong for physiotherapy and allied health outside the US.
- Calendly solves only the booking piece, and is worth considering if scheduling — not charting — is your actual bottleneck.
The honest comparison: Carepatron competes on breadth and price rather than depth. Established specialists have richer clinical tooling for their specific discipline; Carepatron gives a solo practitioner most of what they need for free and the rest for €27 a month.
The Verdict
There is a lot to like here. A free tier with an AI scribe, telehealth and payments is a serious offer, the paid tiers are cheap by the standards of practice management software, and 128 user reviews suggest the product holds up in practice.
What the pricing page does badly is tell you what to pay. Four discounts run simultaneously, they differ by around 30% of your first year, and the best of them is in the banner most visitors close without reading.
Start on Free and see whether the AI scribe earns its place — it costs nothing and needs no card. When you hit the 100-appointment ceiling or discover you need reminders, move to Plus. And at that point, do not just click the button on the card. Ask support which of the four offers gives the lowest twelve-month cost for your situation, and whether any of them stack. On the published numbers that is a €97 question, which is more than three months of the plan itself.
FAQ
How much does Carepatron cost?
The list prices are €27 a month for Plus and €33 for Advanced, with a genuinely capable free plan at €0. At the time of writing the cards showed a promotional €13.50 and €16.50 for the first six months, and separate offers advertised 50% off the year with the code WELLNESSANNUAL, €1 a month for three months with WELLNESS, and 20% off for paying yearly. Prices are shown in euros to European visitors.
Which Carepatron discount is cheapest?
On the published numbers, WELLNESSANNUAL at 50% off the year — about €162 for a first year of Plus, against €243 for the six-month half-price offer shown on the cards, €246 for the €1-a-month code, and €259 for the 20% annual toggle. That is a spread of roughly €97, or 30% of the list-price year. We could not confirm whether any of the offers combine, so check with support before subscribing.
Is Carepatron’s free plan any good?
Unusually so. It includes unlimited clients, telehealth, a client portal, automated online payments and the AI scribe and note taker — the last of which competitors typically charge for. The binding limits are 1GB of storage and 100 appointments, so a practitioner seeing twenty clients a week will outgrow it in about two months. Appointment reminders are not included, which is usually the feature that forces the upgrade.
What is the difference between Carepatron Plus and Advanced?
Six euros a month, and a fairly narrow set of features: roles and permissions, white labeling, Google Analytics integration, 90-day deleted-data retention, a 1:1 onboarding manager and premium support. Everything clinical and operational — unlimited storage, advanced workflows, group telehealth and scheduling, shared inbox, custom branding — is already on Plus. Advanced is for practices with staff to manage rather than practices needing more capability.
Does Carepatron include an AI scribe?
Yes, and on every plan including the free one. Carepatron’s AI Scribe generates clinical notes from sessions, with AI summarise and “AI Ask” also appearing in the feature comparison. Since AI documentation is the feature most practice-management vendors are currently monetising hardest, having it at €0 is the single most distinctive thing about Carepatron’s pricing.
It is user friendly, professional database, keeps me updated.
Professional is not allowed to enter a signature yet, unless you add it as a picture.
Patient schedule, notes, communication.
Integrated client database and records. Integrated billing. Fast response times by Customer Support. Easy use by clients.
No available mobile app for administrators. Limited customization for templates and importing of intake forms.
client scheduling and clinical documentation.
Free base subscription, stripe intergration, can send out invoices to my patients, i can chart and share notes with patients
not enough note templates, direct billing not linked to application, cant send my own created templates as intake forms
It solves my scheduling problem, my chartine, and management of my practice while being very seamless and easy to use
It is pretty straightforward and allows me to modify the basics to suit the needs of my business.
I cannot attach a Welcome letter of my own to my intake paper work. (I only have free version for right now.)
I have been using this ti setup patient appointments and do documentation. This has made it really easy for my company. I do wish that I wouldn't have to go back and find the dates seen when creating a bill, Once I select a patient, it would be nice to ony have the dates they "attended" as a option.
I love how the client database, billing, clinical notes, and scheduling is easy to use all in one.
The daily updates that pops up on the screen.
I'm not sure
Jamie and how the their is a free version! I am looking forward to implementing Carepatron into my business.
I'm looking forward to more product updates.
Automation from the time the patients books to when the visits occurs.
I have been trying out Carepatron for a couple of months now. So far, I am pleased with it. As a new start-up, I am so happy to have found something that is very affordable and still meets my needs.
It is meeting my needs right now. I have not come across much I don't like about it yet.
It is cost effective. I don't have to spend a lot of money an EHR.
It is impressive how many features you have access to with just the free version, especially when comparing to other ECRs. Carepatron seems to offer the full package with payment processing, scheduling/ a client booking link, text/ email appointment reminders, and telehealth for no additional fees. Calendar syncing is easy to implement and managing client schedules is intuitive and straightforward. Responses from the support team are surprisingly prompt and helpful, feeling like a personal correspondence vs. an automated help email.
There are a few downsides that cause confusion for clients and areas that could be simplified for a cleaner platform experience overall. Some of the help articles are vague or lacking in information to solve a problem. The telehealth can be inexplicably wonky at times with no apparent workaround.
Starting out as a solo practitioner my funds are limited, and Carepatron really saved the day with this client management platform. The other EHRs I looked at all cost significantly more and didn't even include half of what carepatron does without requiring additional fees. I had no idea what I was doing and carepatron was straightforward enough and affordable starting out that I could get my telehealth practice up and running in just a few weeks.
Tons of free editable templates. Access to the same free account each month that satisfies all my need for my clients. I feel like carepatron is the first medical record keeping application, that actually meets my needs! Very grateful.
It's harder to use on your cell phone for video calls with clients *but still not impossible* I still make it work. - I just have been encouraged by carepatrons customer service staff to try my new tablet, it might improve my experience of the app and I believe it.
I had a problem earlier last year and I emailed the company and they were able to resolve it almost immediately within a few months I had asked for an intake form that could be personalized and they created one as far as I'm concerned! Really appreciate them!
The organizational of templates. They offer great resources for keeping track of clients,
The cost is too much for students. Wished they had student-friendly prices.
It has helped with forms, scheduling, and keeping my task driven.
I love that Carepatron securely holds my client details, clinic notes and my scheduling calendar. The templates and associates free educational sements on various therapy approaches challenge me to grow and give me confidence to take on clients I might otherwise be hesitant about. As a practitioner starting out in private practice I feel very supported using Carepatron's suite of clinic software.
There hasn't been a downside thus far for me. The software is intuitively easy to figure out - I'm hoping they will allow more storage on th free plan as a starting out practitioner that would always be good!
Carepatron particularly solved my need for Telehealth software and it works like a dream in that regard.
It's very simple to use! I enjoy using it to perform assessments.
Everything has been very helpful. I see no downsides.
It's helping me to do assessments quickly and efficiently.
I use Carepatron for my private practice. It has saved me a lot of administrative time, and it's very easy to use. I can't remember how I got things done before!
It is so affordable - it's hard to fault it.
I previously used word document to write notes, saved in folders a computer. Carepatron has made this process flawless, with clean formatting for patient notes. It is easy to access information and saved to the cloud so it's accessible from anywhere.
Allows me to connect to clients and employees with ease
I'm still learning so I can answer this later
Communications with patients is easier
I absolutely love how streamlined it is and how I can easily change appointments, get test result, update information. So much easier than calling especially when I don't have the time to talk on the phone or risk being on hold
I honestly have nothing negative to say, I can think of nothing I didn't like
Easy appointment scheduling and changing
Carepatron is the best app available for the money. The best thing is that it is free and very robust.
I don't like that you cannot have a minor client with the same phone number and email as their parent to send appointment alerts to.
It is a great place to keep all my notes on my clients and also syncs with my calendar for appointment scheduling
I really like how easy it is to navigate the site. The dashboard proivdes basic information for each profile. The templates allow quick and easy documentation which is very helpful.
I do not like that you cannot import your own templates, instead you have to copy/paste.
It is providing an EHR for my foundation, allowing providers to schedule and document interactions
Carepateon brought instant relief to all the stress of setting up a new private practice. The simplicity and all-encompassing platform that was affordable was an answer to exactly what I was looking for. I am especially appreciative for the ability to two-way sync my Google calendar without needing to pay extra money and I love the chat feature to support me learning the platform when I feel stuck.
The simplicity also brings a few limitations, not being able to customize small things like only showing initials on the calendar to protect confidentiality. However, I have been able to find creative solutions so far.
Carepatron is providing a place where billing, documentation, scheduling, and telemedicine is all in one place for free and HIPPA compliant. I couldn't believe it when I found an option that had all of this together. Plus, live support! Incredible.
Ease of use, has all needs in ehr and billing for a cash practice with good preloaded forms to start and then edit your own
Some features on home page could be modified to be easier for practioner
None at this moment, have had no major issues
Care patron has held my information in the utmost confidence and have made all materials and products user friendly I couldn't ask for more thank you! Very professional and prompt customer service as well. Bravo 👏
I can't say I have any dislikes or disqualifications. Thank you 👍
I can write doctor notes and excuses for my patients quite easily.
It is very easy for clients to book for our services and it is straightforward to send invoices to them.
It must allow paypal because some countries don't accept stripe payments.
It makes it easier for our patients to book for professional counseling than before. We no longer spend most of our time on admin work and Carepatron made it easy for us to focus on helping our clients. CarePatron is the best EHR
Upsides of using Carepatron is that it was easy to get started and import all my client files and they made it relatively stress-free after and already stressful situation. I use Carepatron all day, every day and the ease of integration and the number of features have surpassed other EHR's thus far. Customer support for training has been invaluable.
I have not found any downsides, yet! I am private pay and do not accept insurance so I do not know if that would be an issue or not.
Careparton solve the issue of a low cost EHR for my new private practice.
Very user friendly and cost effective. Great experience for clients too. Customer service is always helpful and quick to respond. I love the features and how easily is integrates my other services.
That clients are unable to reschedule and cancel appointments - this feature is coming.
Keeps my records secure and makes scheduling and meeting with clients easy.
CarePatron allows me to present myself as a leader and innovator in my specialty. Providing HIPPA compliance keeps my license safe. Great pricing! Easy to use and customize. Having the ability to send and receive not only my client intake forms from inside the app but also my service contract AND scheduling AND invoicing AND payment processing, I feel spoiled. I absolutely LOVE CarePatron and am grateful for our business partnership. You make my big dreams bite-sized. I look forward to our future. P.S. Your training videos are precise, clear, and pleasant to watch and listen to.
You have created a masterpiece. It's not too crowded user interface but is flexible and powerful.
CarePatron keeps me compliant with HIPPA and other regulatory bodies to which I must report. All of the businesses, clients, and licensed staff communications from all departments of the company are supported, organized, and protected. The ease and speed of our workflow is magical! All of the businesses', clients', and licensed staff's health files are recorded and monitored in one place. CarePatron removes barriers to client conversations or last-minute questions. Clients can message in notes anytime, and the assigned RN will be notified and looped in to help with a resolution. Our company already used Stripe for payment processing, so the setup was a few mouse clicks. CarePatron is solving: HIPPA compliance Licensure compliance Client service contracts Company document network Telehealth Billing Scheduling Immunization/Physical/Lab Compliance Clinical note storage/organization Everything, even parent/guardian/caregiver training
Carepatron is easy to use, simple, and user friendly.I appreciate the fast support responses and frequent additions of new features. Carepatron has been easy to transition to for my clients and easy for me to use. it syncs with my calendars so i can work across different platforms and not have double booking disasters. I use it daily for my practice and have recommended it to colleagues
I wish there was a way to see the client portal experience or have a client logon from the main page.
Carepatron is solving the issue of overpriced EHR systems that are predatory towards clients and practioners with sketchy privacy policies. it benefits me because I feel safe and secure using Carepatron and comfortable using it for my clients
The accessibility to a live customer service representative.
The initial set up was a bit confusing because we have administrators who are also therapists.
Primarily scheduling, all other documents for our company needed to be housed in the same place and we didn't have a calendar
Has all the modern features without any of the fluff. Ease of use cannot be overstated. In addition, all the features come at the introductory price. For a startup business or even for a more advanced clinic, its hard to beat. Ease of implementation as it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to learn!
They don't have the ability to use autopay for subscription services.
Ability to seamless place billing, EHR, video visits under one portal
Software is easy to use and has all the components that I need for my very small private practice. They are constantly updating and adding features.
I haven't found any downside to using this software.
It is a reasonably priced, cloud-based, all-encompassing EHR software for my very small private practice (only one to two clients at a time)
I love this platform because it is user-friendly, HIPPA compliant for healthcare providers, provides many different templates for free to use (actually, the plan I use with them is totally free!) and their support team is highly responsive and willing to help you with what you need. It's great being able to update my calendar and schedule clients very easily! I have the booking links on my website for clients to easily set up an appointment as well.
I can't say there's much I dislike about this platform.
I needed a HIPAA compliant platform that easily schedules, bills, and is easy for the client to use on their end.
Reduction of my workload Amazing templates Opportunity to create templates Gives me more time to focus and serve clients
No downsides have been identified as yet
quick clinical assessment through use of already prepared tools
