The simplicity and easiness the use and setup
I have used only the droplet, and it suits perfectly to my needs.
Deploying in cloud my SaaS application. I don't need to setup a in premise server and sign up for an static IP.
DO pricing and value are one of the best in the currently available market. The zones available are ideal for my current setup and customers. Reliability is decent at least for the last 7 years I have been using the system. Prototyping, deployment, and hosting of SME projects are one of the core strengths of DO.
Unlike AWS certain or bigger customers do not consider DO as an option to host their platform. It lacks the features and familiarity available on AWS and Azure. It does not have a core product or service that it truly excels at.
Convenience and reliability. The marketplace feature is a good place to start for people who wanted to explore items. Functions are ok for small processes or jobs.
I like DigitalOcean because it gives me the foundational building blocks (droplets, storage) I need to run web applications, scaling up and down as my app requires.
The range and flexibility of the cloud offerings isn't quite as flexible as the main competitors, so you're not always able to put together the infrastructure you need. (This has improved over the years as Digital Ocean have brought out new products to fill in some of the gaps.)
Infrastructure for cloud products from development/proof of concept to production.
DIgitalOcean is easy to understand. For a person coming from normal shared web hosting architecture like Godaddy or BigRock, cloud hosting may seem overwhelming to understand. DigitalOcean with its friendly user interface makes it very easy to understand and navigate all its offerings. It has all the basic features that a cloud hosting provider should have like compute engines, object storage, Databases and load balancers etc. It has a very good explanations of its services so that a user with no cloud computing knowledge can even understand.
We used DigitalOcean earlier and then shifted to AWS because: 1) DigitalOcean didn't and still doesn't support Windows compute engines or droplets. We had to create a manual image and host it but it was discontinued later. 2) One of our servers was hacked twice. Someone hacked and used it to send suspicious emails. We had to change the server and move it to a different IP address. It was hacked again. So security was an issue. 3) Earlier there was no serverless service offered by DigitalOcean. (Now they have introduced it) So we have to migrate to AWS Lambda.
It offered all the basic cloud services like compute engines (droplets) categorized into general purposes, CPU intensive, and memory intensive. Object storage and Databases. DigitalOcean is very user-friendly so didn't have any problems using them. Its clutter-free UI is very easy to understand unlike that of AWS or Azure.
Their minimalistic dashboard and the simplicity of setting up Droplets, networks, and volumes. The predictable costs, the ease of updating billing data and the constant notifications each time a data center region is not available.
The unstable web application, it tends to disconnect sometimes when I change from one page to another, mostly when I attempt to create new Droplets
Deploying VPS instances with pre-configured tools and web hosting control panels.
1) Pricing 2) Marketplace while creating droplets
When facing any issue, the support team will take long time as expected
The major service I am using from the digital ocean is VPS since 2014 & we are using 21 domains on this.
easy to estimate costs and make projections
could be more useful with more complete serverless functions
vps easy to manage and with necessary utilities
Digital Ocean is one of the best cloud platforms, alongside Linode, and Vultr. I liked Digital Ocean's simple User Interface and managing the services, whenever I need to upgrade or extend with one click I can do that. Digital Ocean's documentation and Tutorial guides are one of the best guides and are up to date to date. The pricing was decent or will be because they are changing their current pricing with newer plans.
There is not much to dislike about Digital Ocean, and It could be a different person's different perspectives about it. I mostly disliked their login page, they banned my Wifi's IP address and now I cannot log in, everytime just shows the never-ending captcha. So, to log in to my account, I have to use a different network every time. If we talked about features then, it is my own perspective that, Digital Ocean could also provide the paid cPanel and Plesk license, rather you have to buy separately. On other hand, Vultr included cPanel fees in their server cost if we deploy. And Digital Ocean does not have any Windows support. It is sad. They also change their pricing table now we have to pay about 10% more for a server.
I was using Digital Ocean for hosting my websites on it. Using Digital Ocean we can easily scale or resize server size accordingly to the website traffic and users. Pricing and performance were also great, however, I have switched now.
It is easy to use and simple. You don't need a calculator to buy it. Just create login and use.
Free image storage. Other solutions allow us to store 2-3 volume images freely.
It solves most of the SMB cloud hosting problems. As it is cost effective and stable, especially for SMBs. They can begin with DO droplets as low 5$/month. This will be enough to host a small CRM solution for 10 users.
- UI is very easy for beginners to get started with - inexpensive compared to other competitor products in the market - Custom features and pay as you use is really something good.
- Documentation can be a little bit user friendly
- Handling virtual servers in a different regions for one of the projects
Digital ocean provides excellent features to host the projects with required specifications like operating system, ram capability, disk storage, volume support, access, graphs, and many more such functionalities which are helpful for projects running for production. It also has integrations and supports to various software and can be used for continuous integration and deployment via pipeline tools. The documentation for the digital ocean is very helpful in managing the projects.
The pricing for the digital ocean is relatively high compared to other hosting solutions available in the market. The console available in the digital ocean doesn't operate well and can be improved with its features.
I'm able to host the projects and run them on production so that multiple users can access the outcome and use the application. It provides all the necessary functionalities like ram, storage, os, volumes, graphs, logs, etc. It also offers excellent support and integrations to other tools like Jenkins and Git that help in continuous integration and deployment. It provides excellent support and documentation to access the device.
As it has data centers in India hence it is in compliance with the data rules of the government. Pay as you go billing model is an economical solution. Their Virtual Private hosting machines are god with more than 99% uptime. S3 buckets are very much economical.
Community is not as strong as Amazon web services.
We are using it to host our client's solutions and also for internal servers.
*Snapshots *Easy backups *Full access to the self hosting droplets *Options for low cost droplets *Various SSD options, Regions *Security *Easy to manage
Very bad customer support. If there is DDos attack, they took a long time to get the droplet in normal stage. They should have a live customer support like other hosting provider.
It helps me to easily manage the website with backup facility. I have self hosted gitlab on my droplets which helps me a lot for creating own repositories without any extra cost.
The simplicity of how you manage everything there. and create from 0 with no mastery need it
if perfect for typical environments but, when you try a complex one with better support and performance, people prefer to go azure o aws
I create machines for people in a few minutes, is very simple and work perfectly
GNU Linux compatible services, third-party applications and SQL database user registration
Problem to integrate data in independent table, password.
Active server and immediate response for authentic user. Backup of documents and files
Digital Ocean is truly a complete cloud engine that includes virtual machine, Kubernetes, app engine, storage, database, and community forum. The best thing about the digital ocean is that it has a very active and vibrant support system that provide free tutorials guiding each step to set up all the available services at digital ocean. Furthermore, their app engine is also very easy, economical, scalable, and adaptable for web, Rest API, and software development.
The things I dislike is that the market place for the virtual machines is not offering some important pre-installed systems like Bitnami apps, ODOO, multisite WordPress, and a few others.
I use their virtual machines for LAMP, NodeJS, Python, and REST API servers. Moreover, I also use their block storage to provide fast, scalable, and economical space for most of my projects.
I love Digital Ocean on the grounds that the facilitating/site the executives for clients is so much better since we can control nearly everything from the support. Different highlights that this instrument offers and make me use it are Interoperability, similarity, computational scale, server I/O and capacity assets. I mean there is a great deal of helpful data accessible for the individuals who need support. The data supporting Digital Ocean is phenomenal just as YouTube and other useful destinations. It has an elevated level of setup, customization and security. I can explicitly pick every equipment part that is required by the necessities of the ventures, and the stage is prepared to use in no time flat.
Upgrades could be in the UI/dashboard and metric introduction. Another detail that I don't care for is the Communication between districts as it is perplexing to design. Similarly as with any stage, figuring out how to utilize Digital Ocean can take some time. We needed to retrain our group to begin utilizing it. So it's not perfect on the off chance that you simply need to actualize it immediately. Programming and item changes might be important to utilize Digital Ocean in the most proficient manner.
We use it for some web applications inside and have delighted in utilizing the PC motor offered by Digital Ocean. We have had the option to effortlessly actualize various designs from the board at the snap of a catch. Also, based on Linux: Digital Ocean is based on Linux, so in the event that you get Linux, it makes Digital Ocean simpler to utilize.
Digitalocean is great server provider company and has a great stability server operations, the brand is quite well known and also they offer the possibility of choosing from the seven locations they have. There are a six operation systems and many versions of the same are available which makes it a ready made environment as well. The plans are quite simple and clear. You can also create great snapshots at a moment and you can play it back at anytime you want. They offer trial as well for testing out them. The best thing with DigitalOcean is they have one of the best documentation available with them for most of the requirements.
There is only few thing that I don’t like about DigitalOcean, First things is it's pricing is expensive (Comparatively). it have limited customer support, for most of the sections, they do not offer live support as well.
One thing that has helped me a lot is that we are able to fully deploy cloud solutions within hours using their documentation. It's documentation works as global solution, so they do work on different cloud solutions other than DigitalOcean as well.
Digital ocean control panel is simple and easy to use.
Pricing is bit high but it is necessary for the quality of service they provide
Data security is the primary concern.. digital ocean is thumbs up on it. Speed and security are the major benefits
+ Strong and well-known brand, the stability of server operation confirmed by many positive opinions of users, guaranteed 99% availability. + Settlement per hour + Possibility to choose from seven locations + Six operating systems (Ubuntu, FreeBSD, Fedora, Debian, CoreOs, CentOS) available in many different versions or choose a ready-made environment (WordPress, Drupal, LAMP, LEMP, etc. ) + Simple and clear plans + Possibility to create Snapshots - full images of our server saved at a given moment, which can be played back at any time on any instance. + Possibility to change the plan at any time in two modes: permanent or temporary. By enlarging the server for a while we change only the amount of allocated memory and CPU, without changing the disk space. It is a perfect solution if, for example, there is an increased activity of users in our applications due to an ongoing advertising campaign or other unexpected increase in interest. By choosing a temporary change, we can return to the previous plan at any time. Of course, we can change our plan permanently, and then we can also increase our disk space, but then we can no longer easily go back to a lower plan. + Data backup additionally paid (+20% from the basic price) + Payment by credit card or PayPal + Dedicated APIs, documentation, and lots of different guides co-created by the community.
For some users, the disadvantage may be that DigitalOcean has a limited limit of connections on servers.
DigitalOcean allows me to test cloud solutions before they are deployed on a company server.
