Awin Expert Review

On a £100 sale paying 6% commission, Awin’s partner gets £6 and Awin gets £3.50. That example is Awin’s own, and it is the single most important line on its pricing page: the tracking fee is a percentage of sale value, not of the commission you pay. So the network’s cut is 58% of what the affiliate earns, and your true cost of an affiliate sale is 9.5% of revenue rather than the 6% on your commission sheet.

  • What it is: One of the largest affiliate marketing networks, connecting advertisers to a directory of more than a million publishers.
  • Best for: Brands with real transaction volume who want an established network rather than self-hosted tracking.
  • Pricing: Access £99 + 3.5% per transaction; Accelerate from £199 + 2.5%; Advanced quoted. Plus VAT. Verified July 2026.
  • The honest catch: The 3.5% and 2.5% are on sale value, so they scale with revenue, not with what you pay partners.

What Is Awin?

Awin is a global affiliate network: advertisers run programmes on it, publishers join those programmes, and Awin handles tracking, attribution, payment, and the relationship in between. Its directory covers more than a million partners, which is the main reason to use a network rather than run affiliate tracking yourself — you get discovery and recruitment as well as plumbing.

Awin’s advertiser pricing page showing three plans: Access at £99 plus VAT per month with a 3.5% per-transaction tracking fee, Accelerate from £199 with 2.5%, and Advanced at custom pricing.

The pricing page splits by audience — advertisers, content creators, affiliate partners, and agencies — with published rates only for advertisers. Everything below describes the advertiser side.

Awin cites a set of 2026 G2 awards including Leader and Most Implementable for mid-market, which is a reasonable proxy for how the platform is regarded by the people using it.

How Awin Works

  • A monthly platform fee plus a percentage of every tracked sale.
  • The tracking fee falls as you move up — 3.5% on Access, 2.5% on Accelerate.
  • The fee applies to transaction value, not to commission paid.
  • Access is self-managed; Accelerate offers managed service as an option.
  • Access includes a free first month and a three-month minimum term.
  • Alternative rates exist for businesses without transaction values, such as finance and telecoms.

Awin Pricing

Captured from Awin’s UK advertiser pricing page in July 2026 in pounds sterling, exclusive of VAT.

Plan Monthly Tracking fee Term Suits
Access £99 + VAT 3.5% of sale value 3-month minimum, first month free Self-managed starters
Accelerate From £199 + VAT 2.5% of sale value Quoted Teams wanting APIs and automation
Advanced Custom Custom Quoted Enterprises needing full platform access

Bar chart comparing Awin’s monthly platform cost by sales volume: at £5,000 Access costs £274 against Accelerate’s £324, at £10,000 both cost £449, and at £20,000 Access costs £799 against Accelerate’s £699.

What actually decides your cost:

  • Read the tracking fee as a percentage of revenue, not of commission. Awin’s own worked example is unambiguous: a £100 sale at 6% commission pays the partner £6 and Awin £3.50. Awin’s cut is 58% of the affiliate’s. On Accelerate’s 2.5% it is 42%. Whatever commission rate you have modelled, add 2.5 to 3.5 points of gross to get your real cost per sale.
  • The cheaper plan stops being cheaper at £10,000 a month. Access is £99 plus 3.5%; Accelerate is £199 plus 2.5%. Setting those equal gives £10,000 of monthly tracked sales — below that Access wins, above it Accelerate does, and the gap widens quickly. At £20,000 a month Accelerate saves £100; at £50,000 it saves £400.
  • The monthly fee is almost irrelevant at scale. At £20,000 of monthly sales the platform fee is £99 against £700 of tracking fees. Negotiating the percentage matters roughly seven times more than negotiating the subscription.
  • Access has a genuinely low-risk shape. First month free and a three-month minimum term is unusually forgiving for a network, and it means a small brand can test whether affiliate works at all for well under £500.
  • Accelerate is quoted “from” £199. Only Access has a fixed published price; everything above it involves a conversation, so budget on the percentage and treat the monthly as negotiable.
  • Automation and reporting are the Accelerate features. APIs, enhanced reporting, industry benchmarks, and automated commission rules across ten dimensions — product, SKU, new versus existing customer, coupon code, campaign, publisher, and more.

Who Should Use Awin

  • Ecommerce brands with real volume. The clearest case, and where a network’s publisher directory earns its percentage.
  • Businesses starting affiliate from scratch. A free first month and a three-month term makes testing genuinely cheap.
  • Brands needing publisher discovery. Over a million partners is the thing you cannot replicate with self-hosted tracking.
  • International programmes. Awin’s global footprint is one of its stronger arguments over regional networks.

It fits poorly for high-volume, low-margin retail, where 3.5% of gross is punishing; for SaaS with recurring revenue, where PartnerStack is purpose-built; and for brands with an existing partner base who need tracking rather than recruitment, where self-hosted software is far cheaper.

Honest Pros and Cons

Strengths

  • A publisher directory of over a million partners, with recommendations.
  • Published advertiser pricing, which much of this category refuses to do.
  • A free first month and a three-month minimum on Access.
  • The tracking fee falls with scale, from 3.5% to 2.5%.
  • Strong automation at Accelerate — commission rules across ten dimensions.
  • Well regarded, with 2026 G2 Leader and Most Implementable placements.

Limitations

  • The tracking fee is on sale value, so it scales with revenue regardless of margin.
  • Awin’s cut is 58% of a 6% commission on the entry plan.
  • Only Access has a fixed price; Accelerate is “from” and Advanced is quoted.
  • Prices exclude VAT, which adds 20% for UK advertisers.
  • The percentage dominates the bill at any meaningful volume.
  • Alternative rates for non-transactional businesses are unpublished.

Awin Alternatives and How It Compares

  • Impact is the enterprise partnership platform, broader than affiliate and priced accordingly.
  • PartnerStack is built for B2B SaaS partner and reseller programmes rather than retail affiliate.
  • ShareASale, now part of Awin, remains a separate network with its own publisher base.
  • CJ Affiliate and Rakuten Advertising are the other large networks, both quote-only.
  • Refersion, Tapfiliate, and Post Affiliate Pro are self-hosted alternatives — cheaper, with no publisher directory.

For a broader survey, browse our affiliate marketing directory.

The Verdict

Awin is a credible choice for a brand that wants an established affiliate network rather than a tracking script, and it deserves credit for publishing advertiser prices at all — much of this category quotes everything. The publisher directory is the actual product: more than a million partners with recommendations and a marketplace is something you cannot build yourself, and it is what the percentage buys.

Understand that percentage before you model anything. The tracking fee applies to sale value, not to commission. Awin’s own example makes the point plainly: on a £100 sale paying 6% commission, the partner gets £6 and Awin gets £3.50. Your cost of that sale is £9.50 — 9.5% of revenue — and the network takes more than a third of it. If you have been planning an affiliate programme around a 6% commission rate, your real number on the Access plan is 9.5%, and margin-thin retail should do that arithmetic before signing anything.

The plan decision then follows from volume, and the crossover is precise. Access at £99 plus 3.5% equals Accelerate at £199 plus 2.5% at exactly £10,000 of monthly tracked sales. Below that, the cheaper subscription wins; above it, the lower percentage does, and the gap grows fast — £100 a month saved at £20,000 of sales, £400 at £50,000. It also follows that at any real volume the monthly fee is noise: at £20,000 a month you pay £99 in subscription and £700 in tracking fees, so the percentage is the only number worth negotiating. Start on Access to use the free first month and the three-month term, and move the moment your volume crosses £10,000.

FAQ

How much does Awin cost?

Captured on Awin’s UK advertiser pricing page in July 2026, excluding VAT: Access is £99 per month plus a 3.5% tracking fee on each transaction, Accelerate is from £199 per month plus 2.5%, and Advanced is custom-priced. Access includes a free first month and has a three-month minimum term. Businesses without transaction values, such as finance and telecoms, are offered alternative rates on request.

Is Awin’s tracking fee charged on the sale or on the commission?

On the sale value. Awin’s own example on the pricing page states that for a £100 sale with 6% commission, the partner receives £6 and Awin receives £3.50 under the Access plan. That means the tracking fee is calculated on gross transaction value, not on what you pay the publisher — so Awin’s cut works out at 58% of the commission on Access and 42% on Accelerate.

When should I move from Awin Access to Accelerate?

At £10,000 of monthly tracked sales. Access costs £99 plus 3.5% and Accelerate costs from £199 plus 2.5%, so the two are identical at £10,000 a month — £449 either way. Below that, Access is cheaper despite the higher percentage; above it, Accelerate’s lower rate more than covers the extra £100 subscription, saving £100 a month at £20,000 of sales and £400 at £50,000.

What is the real cost of an affiliate sale on Awin?

Your commission rate plus the tracking fee, both calculated on sale value. On the Access plan a £100 sale at 6% commission costs £9.50 in total — £6 to the partner and £3.50 to Awin. On Accelerate the same sale costs £8.50. Add VAT on the platform fees, and factor this into your margin before setting commission rates, because the network’s percentage is a fixed cost of revenue rather than of profit.

Is Awin worth it compared with self-hosted affiliate software?

It depends on whether you need publishers or only tracking. Self-hosted tools like Refersion or Post Affiliate Pro cost a fraction of Awin’s percentage but give you no partner directory, so you must recruit every affiliate yourself. Awin’s million-plus publisher network and recommendation engine is what the 2.5% to 3.5% pays for. If you already have the partners and simply need attribution and payment, self-hosted is dramatically cheaper.

There isn't anything I dislike. If I were to make a recommendation, I would suggest adding a feed for coupons, to be able to quickly get a list of all active coupons, without having to check each program individually for them.

"Market-leading affiliate marketing platform"
What do you like best about Awin?

Awi allows our business to easily and efficiently manage, recruit and optimise our affiliate partners. The platform has an extensive suite of reporting tools which allows us to easily review KPIs and create a strategy accordingly. Furthermore, the vast database of affiliate partners ensures our brand can be promoted through a wide range of sources.

What do you dislike about Awin?

The platofrm is perhaps slightly outdated and could perhaps make use of a face lift.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Awin is allowing brands easy access to a complete suite of tools that simplify the partner management experience and allow any and all companies entry in the affiliate marketing world. The platform has acted as a gateway for our business into the partner space in the last two years.

"Quality Network and Account Management"
What do you like best about Awin?

Awin has a strong network of publishers that allows Vivint to access incremental partnerships. Their tracking mechanisms have been reliable, and I've been impressed with their account management.

What do you dislike about Awin?

Their APIs are not as intuitive as I would expect. Additionally, they have not integrated Awin with Share-A-Sale (a network they own), which would seemingly have benefits for numerous advertisers.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Awin's platform allows Vivint to find net new affiliate entities and to operationalize those partnerships in a turnkey fashion. Vivint is relatively new to e-commerce endeavors, so finding a proper e-commerce oriented tracking solution was imperative to achieve growth.

"A good way to increase reach"
What do you like best about Awin?

Loads of flexibility to set offers, accept or decline each publisher and provide assets and copy for them to use. If you know what you're doing it feels like a very powerful way of extending your reach and only paying for converting customers.

What do you dislike about Awin?

It takes a bit of time to get setup - you need a developer and some space in your backlog. You also need to monitor it a fair but to get you up and running. We've seen only 1 customer referred so far, but hope for more soon.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

We only want to pay for converting customers and think affinity marketing is a great way to do just that.

"Awin is the easiest affiliate platform to use"
What do you like best about Awin?

The level of activity within the platform is unparallelled within the UK, with most key publishers using this network as their first/main port of call. The interface itself is the easiest to use and seems to be the most intuitive of all the affiliate platforms I've worked with.

What do you dislike about Awin?

Account support can be slightly vague and response times are slower, particularly for smaller accounts.

"Awin Affiliate program review"
What do you like best about Awin?

The access to over 200,000 worldwide active affiliate databases makes it easier to get the product/service the brand exposure needed to reach the exact customers needed to make the products a success.

What do you dislike about Awin?

There were very few downsides to the AWIN program, but a minor inconvenience was the registration, it was a bit slow for my liking. Again this was a minor inconvenience and not a larger concern

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

The program helps the product/services with more prominent brand visibility and exposure needed for the product to be successful. The affiliates are spread worldwide, making reaching a worldwide audience easier. They have solutions for both agencies and publishers equally.

"Great affiliate platform, especially for Etsy"
What do you like best about Awin?

I like the Chrome extension which generates affiliate links quickly and easily across Awin advertisers. I use it specifically for Etsy products so it makes it so smooth to use it on-page. Also, the payment has always been timely, and I like that you can manage multiple vendors from your home screen. The comparative earnings analytics is helpful as well.

What do you dislike about Awin?

I don't find their dashboard to be intuitive. I always have to figure it out again each time I log in, in order to get to my correct merchant and the earnings information I want. I find some of their participating affiliates obscure and have only found Etsy and 1-2 others that fit my offerings.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use it mainly to participate in the Etsy affiliate program, recommending specific products to my readers online. While it is not a huge portion of my income, it definitely enables me to monetize gift guides around the holiday season. I also have used it to browse their affiliate directory and brainstorm other affiliate partnerships.

"Decent Affiliate Platform, a bit clunky in places, but the biggest one out there"
What do you like best about Awin?

AWIN has the biggest and most successful affiliates on the platform so you really need to work with AWIN to make your affiliate marketing activity a success. We use AWIN everyday and it has been the backbone of our affiliate marketing campaign for well over a year now. It has a number of useful features that we use, including the reporting.

What do you dislike about Awin?

The platform is clunky and not all that easy to use, it feels very out of date, and the customer service is hit and miss. We use AWIN everyday and it has been the backbone of our affiliate marketing campaign for well over a year now. In that time we've had issues with the implementation and commission structure, and we had to complain heavily about the lack of support from our dedicated person at AWIN before being moved to a new advisor who is much for efficient and useful for what we need. If you are on shopify the integration is not that easy to use.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed to widen the range of marketing we did for our brand, and AWIN provided a solution for our affiliate marketing.

"Great service for cheaper price"
What do you like best about Awin?

Awin is cheaper than all the competitors. Most people do know about it as they sponsor a lot of events. Their integration documents are decent and does a good job guiding the efforts for devs.

What do you dislike about Awin?

Awin is not as well known in marketers communities or they don't seem to trust them. It may have to do with how markters get paid commissions from other platforms like Impact. For some reason, despite how expensive Impact is, people prefer that. Makes very little sense.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Awin is a cheaper alternative to Impact. It does the program management as well as anyone else in industry.

"Easy to use"
What do you like best about Awin?

I like how clean the portal is, very intuitive. So easy to onboard, upload company info and start inviting affiliates.

What do you dislike about Awin?

The one thing I don't like is that we can't send out mass emails promoting weekly promos like we can on SAS.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's automatic letting affiliates promote our products.

"Overall, Awin is very complete"
What do you like best about Awin?

The database. Since Awin is very well known, several new publishers find our program through the platform. Also we can reach out to new publishers as well. The toolbox is overall my favourite tab - very intuitive. Didn't use the reporting as much, so not sure how thorough it is.

What do you dislike about Awin?

At the beginning of our partnership, we didn't have an account manager that provided benchmarks and best practices (we do now, and she is excellent). I also recommend adding a way to personalise the communication to publishers when their commission is changed. Also, I feel the platform is not friendly for affiliation with influencers.

What problems is Awin solving and how is that benefiting you?

Automatize our Affiliate Marketing program and expand our brand presence
