Fast and accurate standard render engine. Great modelling tools. Scene tree helps organize elements. Material Nodes.
Full package is pretty expensive (but includes everything for production-qualty work). Could use re-render of specific parts over existing image (possible, but only using an external image editor).
Modelling and rendering of: products, architectural interiors / exteriors, exhibit booths. Fast and high quality results, from ideation to final image / animation.
the mograph tools is the best and UI , the render is very nice and fast u can get many styles from it , i use it for motion graphic and info graphic presentations its easy and almost interactive ..
i think just need little improvement in modeling tools , and shaders . but in general it is useable
motion and info graphics . props animation and advertisement Prints
The UI is clean and very friendly . Cinema 4D has never crashed on me . Easy texturing . Easy simulation . Easy rendering . The in-built render is the most impressive render I've used .You have global illumination and ambient occlusion which is very easy to handle . I started to use Cinema 4D over the years as it offers more extend to your creativity and skills . If your a confused beginner I would recommend that you go for Cinema 4D cause there is a lot of tutorials available out there .
Unlike other softwares , Cinmea4d does not have normals options . So when importing as an .obj your faces might get into a little distortion . Other than that , I find it very fun to use .
Modelling is kinda hard to do on this , so I prefer doing it separately . and importing it . Cinema 4d modelling is easy but compared to the other softwares available it's not that friendly .
I like the user interface the most. While I was learning different 3d modelling programs, I found it the most user friendly application. The small icons next to the features and tools makes it much faster to recognise them while learning the program. It's easy to do nice visuals quickly and I can concentrate on the designing task. The built in rendering engine is good enough I dont have to install other engines. Also the motion simulation fuction is useful for quick animations.
There are less content on the internet, compare to other popular 3d modelling softwares.
Mainly I'm using it for product designing and rendering. It is really useful at the begining to quickly put the ideas in 3d and show it for the client.
Very user friendly everything is at hand for modeling.
It was a harder transition from Maya. But that's not nessarly a dislike.
It's a quicker way to create 3 D models and animations
Cinema 4D is very intuitive and user friendly 3D software. It offers many predefined materials but it is fairly easy to make your own materials. With usage of Deformers it is possible to make very interesting abstract shapes.
I like all aspects of Cinema 4D, but I would like to see few tools for organic modeling ( like in ZBrush)
I am making digital illustrations and anything graphic design related. Cinema 4D allows me to quickly make 3D objects that would take a long time to draw / paint or make with some other technique. It is useful especially when I need to quickly make simple 3D objects.
ease of use and to learn has lots of features even after 10 years am still learning new stuff
now the bevel deformer works with more than one textures
3D visuals and animations, also some Motion graphics
Very easy to use and very powerful, ideal for graphic designers, and motion graphics; of course all the benefits for 3D animations, powerful render engine, FX, Advance Lighting and compatible with third party software. The learning curve is very fast thanks to its intuitive user interface.
So far I have not had any dislike, something significant that review, perhaps some inconsistencies in Global Illumination when rendering a video sequence

Very stable and fast, complete solution for 3D modelling, rendering, texturing, sculpting, animation, scripting and compositing. It is a capable alternative to Autodesk 3ds Max or Maya. Highlights: good integration with VectorWorks, ArchiCAD (all from Nemetschek), but also integration with After Effects, Unity (through FBX) and Photoshop (through multi-layered PSD exports). The Physical render engine can lead to very believable lighting, with not too much grain. You can also do a hardware (GPU screen) rendering or integrate with RenderMan compliant renderers, if you want. That said, there is more than enough rendering power available as is. The Motion Graphics (MoGraph) module is very flexible for procedural modelling and animation and so is the integrated visual scripting (called XPresso), the SDK (called Coffee for scripting), Character animation (Mocca) and even Python scripting support. Flexible user interface, with multiple layouts you can save.. Runs on Windows and OSX and is fully capable of 64-bit memory access, GPU accelerated viewport display and multi-threaded rendering. Complete file support and good workflow integration. It has become free for students, but schools need to buy a maintenance license.
Very expensive if you need all functionality. Y-axis is used for Upward direction (like most DCC software), which feels odd for CAD or BIM users. Not as widely supported with books, resources and tutorials as 3ds Max or Maya. Good sources are Cineversity, Creative Cow and 3d fluff.
Rendering and animation BIM models. Transferring ArchiCAD models to Unity.
Presets in Cinema 4D are great. It's interface is definitely one of the highlights for me as a traditional graphic designer.
Render times. HA! The power (resources) needed to run scenes in full-detail.
3D is the next step for my company in selling it's services. People are wanting more, more, MORE!
Maxon has evolved Cinema 4D into the leading 3D Modeling software for a reason. Not only is it capable of creating incredible 3D scenes, but the physics it’s able to recreate as well as the dynamic and photorealistic rendering (with added plugins,) it can render our… Its incredible.
The price point is ridiculous. Especially when Blender, an open source freeware, is almost, if not just as robust and good.
It has allowed me to be able to create product promotions for my clients that I would’ve never been able to create otherwise. It has definitely elevated my capabilities and stock.
C4D offers various features and tools for modelling, texturing, lighting, animation, and rendering. It can handle various tasks, from simple 3D modelling to complex visual effects.
While Cinema 4D has a wide range of built-in tools, some advanced features and specialised workflows may require additional third-party plugins, which can add to the overall cost.
C4D excels in motion graphics, providing powerful tools for creating animated titles, visual effects, and complex motion designs. Its MoGraph module allows for efficient and flexible motion graphics workflows.
Cinema 4D is most User friendly 3D software. The best part of C4D is it's MoGraph and Dynamics. It is way too easy than other 3D softwares. compare to 3DS Max and Maya, Cinema 4D is more fast and Easy to use.
Cinema 4D has very less to Dislike though but if asked I think It need to work more on VFX pipeline as it's working more on motion graphics but have compositing and tracking options also in c4d which need to be more developed.
It has Procedural way of Modeling and another stuff which is really helpful and fast. We can do any changes even after completing full assignment that's what is procedural. Easy to make 3D motion graphics i use it for teaching in my institute and love to work on cinema 4D
Great product tho model, render and animate. Has an excellent own render engine. And if combined with other render engines (like Vray), great quality can be achieved!! And it also runs in Windows and Mac, so it's hard to have compatibility issues.
Not so many plugins and materials existing in comparison with 3DS Max and Maya.
No business problems. As a benefit I can distinguish the compatibility of Operative Systems.
Cinema 4d offers ease of use and a robust toolset for modeling, motion graphics, and rendering. Its learning curve is not steep compared to other packages.
Maxon Introduced a subscription model recently, They should have retained perpetual Licences and included Redshift in the package.
Maxon is my go too modeling tool for Architectural design-Furniture to be specific. Its shortened the time i take to deliver projects to clients
The tools provided inside Cinema4d are really easy to use. The tools are very good, especially for motion graphics.
The interface of c4d is quite boring as compared to other software. Also, its integration with other software is not that good.
Whenever we are looking for quick, vibrant motion graphic animations, it is the first software we look forward to.
From the first day of use, you identify with cinema4d's intuitive and easy-to-use GUI. This is a great starting point, while other similar software seems confusing, in cinema4d you get a lightweight environment with easily accessible features. It has fantastic resources for animation, both for beginners and advanced users, in a few minutes you can get interesting effects, especially when learning the Mograph resources. Finishing a render using redshift will complete the experience as it should be.
Advanced users may miss some modeling features, such as a good retopology tool, the one present in the cinema doesn't work properly and we often prefer not to use it. Another negative point is the price, very expensive, especially for beginners.
Four years ago I started in the 3D world and tested some software, very confused at first until I tried cinema4d. The work environment attracted me and in the first few minutes of use I felt comfortable modeling the first parts of my engineering project and testing animations. I continue to use it to this day because over time we can learn the advanced features and this fuels the initial passion for the work environment provided.
The user interface, speed, flexibility. Robust modeling and animation tools
Price, lack of exporting options, Buggy gltfb, and fbx exports. Still not suitable for game pipeline
I use it daily basis to create animation, 3d illustrations and motion graphics
Cinema 4D has become a very important tool for graphic designers of today, as it is distinguished by its innovation, high customization capacity and easy usability. The service is distinguished by providing access through computers and Mac. It has very useful functions such as its image editor, drag and drop, templates, animations, 2D drawings, among other functions that allow high quality work.
The price of this service is extremely expensive, so it is necessary for people to have a large budget. I believe that it is necessary to implement more documentation to help new users who acquire the service to learn more easily how the software works and thus be able to give it a more appropriate use from the beginning. Sometimes the operation of the interface of this software has slowed down for a few seconds, I consider that it is a failure of which corrections must be made since it becomes something quite uncomfortable.
We use Cinema 4D as our main software to make animations to multiple videos, make edits and customizations on a large scale that allows us to provide a great experience to our audience, the software provides us with a large amount of resources that allows us to execute tasks with high professionalism, complete our main objectives and drive the growth of our business.
I've utilized Cinema 4D in my business team. I was attracted to the program in light of the fact that usability. I like that it is so natural to learn and build up your abilities in the program.
The program albeit moderately simple to utilize can have its subtleties structure time to time. I think that its hard to find certain highlights.
Since I can't move beyond doing fundamental things, I haven't had the option to take care of any genuine issues yet. I'd prefer to utilize it for type plan, mockups, and other 3D demonstrating.
Very useful program for 3D design which offers many tools from beginners to professionals, such as the creation of UVs for the environment and contour of the graphics in the form of a board that helps the design of the modeling to transform , the creation of nodal materials when importing, modeling through vertices and animation, which give a full focus on the design, uniting all the aspects that are needed from the import on the map to the transformation in 3D that we want to achieve a spectrum in the which will be easier for us to work on the design from its transformation to the animation of the object
Something that would be good to implement in the program is the cooperative work mode in which many users could work on the same design, which would save us a lot of work time
When we proceed to work with this program, we first import what the design is to generate the maps and UVS islands so that we have the grid ready for the dimensions of the object in which we are going to modify, likewise first we activate a quick view of the modeling in order to give us an idea and work on the basics, likewise we design adding layers and until the end work only on the animation and then proceed to export the finished object
There’s nothing more to say about Maxon’s Cinema 4D, everything has been said over the years by any kind of user, from the beginner to the expert. In Cinema 4D you can find every kind of tool you need starting from your imagination, and you know that if you want to distort reality and create new kind of imaginary worlds, you need 3D. Mograph is very powerful and procedural, I like the versatility of each tool and effector. The integration between Cinema 4D and After Effects now has been improved, so you can work with both softwares at the same time having full control of your workflow.
Not everything is procedural. Many times you need to convert objects to let them work with some other tools, and this is not so nice, since converting you can’t edit objects properties anymore.
Before working with Cinema 4D I was limited to 2D environments. It has changed my limits.
Cinema4D is so remarkably well-rounded. The mograph/spline tools are a huge timesaver. Volumetric modeling is killer. The bundled physical renderer gets the job done. It's a jack-of-all-trades sort of thing. There are other pieces of software that do the indivdual jobs better, but C4D is able to do everything in one place.
Previously, Cinema4D had four different packages -- Cinema4D Prime, Cinema4D Broadcast, Cinema4D Studio, and Cinema4D Visualize. Combined with the annual releases it was super confusing. Now there's just one SKU and a recurring subscription. I'm not a huge fan of having the subscription model for software, but it makes more sense than buying a new license every year.
Have you ever had to crank out dozens of unique creatives for editorial use? C4D is a lifesaver for this.
As someone as myself that works with motion graphics, having a powerful software like C4D is a must. It does not fall behind the "big dogs" of the 3D world. And the integration it has with After Effects is amazing.
Render times sometimes can take way too long, even if you have a powerful machine
Doing 3D motion graphics for a TV Broadcasting station has been way more productive using C4D.
The ease of 3d rendering is a large time saver.
launch times can be buggy which can equate to longer work times
3d rendering and graphics
Great integration with the Adobe Creative Suite, perfect use with Unity, amazing for basic and advanced modeling
Would like a GPU rendering based option and increased UV mapping support
Allows me to create 3D models for projects, game development, motion graphics, videos and animations
I use this program to make 3D graphics with animation for my company. Works fantastic once you know how to use it and what to do. Good online community of people who are ready to help
Load times, this could be my computer but switching between open projects I have to wait a minute or two for it to load..
Allows us to give consistent quality graphics/animations to our customers.
I used it for a couple of years for still image rendering due to the fact that 3d max wasn't supported on macs (i think still doesn't). The cinerender is good enough and the the minor modelling that i did was very straight forward.
Their were not many ready textures and objects in the native file formats. Also if you import from archicad sometimes the export/import features don't work that well. i would say especially for the light sources to be inserted in C4D. Furthermore the renderer is good but you want to add Vray add-on to it which is at a different level especially for still imaging
High quality 3D rendering
Cinema 4D is very versatile and has plenty of functions. It can fulfill the needs of someone who needs to animate a scene with various moving objects such as characters, environments and much more, to someone who simply needs some 3D text with lighting. Another awesome feature is how open the program is to importing and exporting various types of files, an issue other programs often have.
The program is not too user friendly and a lot of time is necessary to fully understand how a lot of the things work even though a very extensive manual is available for the various iterations of the program itself. The program itself is also extremely expensive for most people, which is why I recommend using a program (one very similar to Cinema 4D) called Blender for as long as possible.
I have used Cinema 4D to completely animate scenes and then render them, and also used it for various 3D text effects that are hard to achieve with any type of photo editing software (photoshop etc.).
