For a team that started with JIRA for project management, we were looking for a solution to manage our business and product documentation, and Confluence fit the bill perfectly. Its integration with JIRA ensured that any stories and features we plan to roll out are 2-way synced and thus, super easy to update. The document management system follows a tree based hierarchy, and has an efficient markdown/rich text editor with shortcuts to speed up documenting. It has a real time logger so that changes can be traced. Integration with Bitbucket is also possible, as is with another set of Atlassian marketplace products like Calendar
It lacks the level of customizability that Notion provides, like ingrained Kanban boards, lists etc. Speed of saving could also be improved. And yes, Dark mode - we're waiting for you since forever
We use Confluence to manage our business and product documentation, including business and functional analysis documents, meeting documents and more. It's easy to collaborate on shared documents, share them and export them, and also track updates. Integration with Jira and Bitbucket is a great help as well.
Confluence integrates with all other Atlassian products which makes project and product management as seamless an experience as you can get. With regards to the individual pages, the templates which have increased a lot over the last year are really helpful for giving your documentation some structure and easy to fill out. The macros are helpful though occasionally need to look up how to implement them properly, but the confluence documentation on macros is really helpful.
It can feel a bit clunky to navigate through different projects and pages within. While it's easy to create and move items from the left hand vertical panel, I don't feel there's a seamless way to navigate and find what you need through it.
Our company provides all materials through confluence, with detailed documentation on how to's, what's, why's etc. It's the company wiki and integrates into Jira where we run our product and project management through.
1. Ability to create & share information across the team. 2. Helps to organise similar design documents or information together. 3. Provides a platform to communicate on the share information to all the team members. 4. The stakeholders can monitor & be notified of all the changes being made on the confluence pages.
1. Performance issues with Chrome or similar browser clients. 2. Constant email notifications about changes can be distracting; the option to mute them should be available
1. With Confluence, we are making release notes for each production release. 2. Development teams discuss product designs with the stakeholders using Confluence.
I like most that we can create different workspaces for different projects and make documentation on them. We can collaborate with our team members so that they can also contribute their notes on the project.
Confluence has limited mobile functionality compare to web access.
We are making notes on our project use cases and share them within our organization as per requirements.
Centralized workspace for team to contribute information related projects. You can create pages add diagram flow diagram and whole team and read and contribute
It is not free tool.and navigation is difficult
Mostly for documentation purpose.you can add comments and contribute
Confluence is one of the best products from Atlassian like JIRA. The product can be used to creates pages related to your project where we can store information regarding your project. And also it can be separated team-wise. One can share their thought in the confluence page. Information regarding Team, the business can be stored and that can be shared with everyone in Team. It has option for calendrer to manage your working days. You can check someone's availability using confluence Calendrer. Various wiki pages can be created for information regarding data and business functionality flow for reference. Its the user interface is great. Everything you will find just by searching.
Nothing is there to dislike. But yes, it's not saving data automatically. If you by mistake clicked in the refresh window or close the current tab, your work will go wasted.
I have been using confluence from last 2 years. In my project most of the information related to it can be found in confluence pages. Our Team information, Project information. product info, functionality info everything has been mentioned there. Most of the team member sharing their ideas , POC related to project work everything can be created in confluence pages and every team member collaborate there. We are using calendrer in confluence to block our day if we are busy or on holiday. We can check other members availability for the work.
I love fast and easy access of creation of any article/workflow instructions and to be able share it The thousands of editing option like flow-chart/mark-down makes easy to share an idea The collaboration helps in keeping the information updated Easy integration with JIRA makes workflow seamless The navigation through article/pages is easy with side navigation bar
A dislike button is missing, which is very important to stop sharing wrong information
I have been using confluence for more than three years to share or learn information about projects/workflow in my organization.
We can easily find out the page what we are trying to find out. The format for storing the page and documents are very well structured. In this, you can integrate many other applications of project management and charts.
Nothing. But sometimes it takes some time to open the confluence page.
All important documents of my company are in confluence . And if we solved difficult or interesting problems then we wrote those steps on this. So other members of my team can follow later.
Confluence provides many effective options for making notes, putting down information and resources that can be shared for team meetings, discussions and brainstorming sessions.
the features are pretty much user-friendly, not much to dislike. It also comes with instructions that help in understanding how to create notes or info.
Effective information gathering and sharing with team members.
I like that every team member can find Importe Information about project there or can create it's own document!
Sometimes it can be difficult to search certain document there.
In Confluence we have everything: technical documentation, API specs, HR Info, Wiki pages. It's nice to have all important documentation in one place!
it is very user friendly and therefore simple and accessible
it's pretty simple, nothing to dislike so not much to write here
i am using it to write story boards in place of old CRF/BRD documents.
Confluence is remarkable because it allows for my software team to work together in an agile environment. Confluence allows users to create documents and share those documents with team members. This document can be "Read Only" or "Edit Only" or even "Read and Edit". Users can also add comments to documents with suggestions. Confluence also allows for many integrations such as Jira, Micorsoft Teams, Lucid Chart, etc. I am also a fan of the Confluence mobile app. This app allows for quick and easy access to my documents and notifies me of any changes. Creating page trees and paths to other projects is made simple.
I dislike how Confluence is sometimes slow on my web browser. After creating documents, I wish I could export them to something other than PDF. It would also be nice to be able to export to a cloud storage solution. Some Confluence tools are not straightforward and require some getting used to. More detailed documentation would be very helpful.
Confluence helps me solve the problem of connecting my work issues and tickets with documentation. The benefits I have realized with Confluence are permissions and being able to share documents with others who are specified.
One of the things I like is how comfortable you can access the database to edit it, this makes the work more fluid because being able to access a database and more importantly being able to edit it in an excellent and comfortable way is a functionality that very few programs have or do not apply it well, its notification service, tracking and monitoring is also impeccable which makes it a unique tool with a lot of power in the market to develop large projects.
Something negative that I find to this great tool is its slowness when facing massive tasks, they have to improve that because there are times when the program tends to close.
Confluence has changed my way of developing and auditing projects together, working with a team of professionals, discussing ideas, suggesting changes and all this through confluence has been a magnificent experience, enriching and of a high professional level, this platform gives you the option to connect at a professional and analogical level with people within your work environment and develop excellent communication and brilliant ideas.
Two main things that I enjoy about Confluence: 1. It's easy to collaborate on things with other team members. Their inline comments are really easy to use. I've also appreciated that all of Atlassian's tools are connected. So when the Dev team is working in Jira, I can easily pull up the information I need without having. to leave the page and then get back into my workflow in Confluence.
This is a small thing but it gets me all the time. Unless you hit the "publish" button, no one can see any changes have been made, even for people that you've shared the document with. I've since learned this is even true for comments that I've tagged someone in. Unless I hit "publish", they will not be notified that I've tagged them. Just a small annoyance but it comes up a lot.
Consistency and alignment are what we're after with using Confluence and all of Atlassian's products. This has helped us to be more transparent with out product and development teams as well.
The best part of Confluence is organizing project information into Spaces and Page trees. Easier to create content that is accessible by the whole team in seconds. The access level restrictions help us control who can view and edit your page before it's live or published. Integration with Jira and other Atlassian products is always a plus for the Atlassian community. I can easily manage all my product requirements, standard operating procedures, etc., with ease, and collaboration is simple and flexible.
The availability of more business templates for use by various teams across the organization should improve. Considering the current functionality of adding dynamic content to the pages is ok concerning basic organization needs, Atlassian should enhance this feature within confluence pages. Nothing else from the improvement standpoint as the tool is marvelous.
I track all my product requirements in the Confluence tool then share them with various business teams to review and comment. We also draft all the standard operating procedures, support manuals in confluence for the benefit of multiple stakeholders across the organization. Collaboration across various business and technology teams is so easy and seamless.
