Overall everything. It has a great balance between what it offers, Internet speed is very good, the option to choose the type of processor, locations, firewall configuration, in short. It is a very complete section. Everything is very didactic, there is detailed information about the costs generated by each instance, I love it.
What I don't like is the bandwidth limit that it offers. I understand that for the price, it's what they offer.
So far, I haven't had any problem with the product I've purchased.
Excellent price for the performance combined with solid support for when you need it.
In the over 7 years of using Digital Ocean I haven't encountered any downsides to using their service. Having said that, it is geared towards advanced users so one has to be aware of that.
It provides the hosting for our web application which consists of several front end web servers, some load balancers, a MySQL database and a redis database.
The platform is very user-friendly and contains a lot of helpful documentation and options for different hosting needs. Furthermore, the price is great. The ultimate selling point was all the blogs with detailed tutorials about hosting Nodejs applications, etc.
The only critique I have is that there are no servers in Sweden that you can host droplets on. It would be great if servers in more locations were added so there is more flexibility.
DigitalOcean helps me easily host any application to the cloud; most importantly, it is a very affordable solution! Furthermore, the options provided make it even easier to fit any requirements regarding hosting that a client I work for may have.
They provide all the functionality I need with a fantastically easy-to-use UI through which I can manage my systems.
I used to not like that they didn't offer phone support but they went and fixed that so, now I have no complaints.
Hosted Linux instances. Hosted/Managed database. Hosted DNS.
When a friend needs a simple website (e.g. Wordpress), I always recommend DigitalOcean. The price is amazing. However, what's great is that if they need more than that, DigitalOcean has a lot to offer. Personally, I've used it for years and it has been great.
Overall, not much to dislike, although obviously cheaper prices are always welcome.
Personal websites and projects
I got a superb experience with Digital Ocean. Amazing service, lightning performance, awesome uptime, ease of setting things up; even I still don't need to contact customer support. I recommend Digital Ocean to all my developers.
I can not download an image of a droplet in order to have a local backup. I miss this feature.
The market is flooded with many kinds of web hosting services. I was looking for a reliable & cost-effective VPS service to host my web applications. Then I saw a Digital Ocean advertisement. I tried and tested their services. It was amazing to have a VPS just for USD 5 / month from Digital Ocean.
How easy is it to use the DigitalOcean platform
Will be nice to have a more personalized/custom support
In my case, one of the things I like is that I can connect my GitHub repo and deploy.
We usually need to spawn a few virtual machines for both testing our products and trying new apps, and doing so with DigitalOcean is as simple as pressing one button.
The only thing we can complain about it's not the usability but the cost of their app platform, specially when you need a database attached (which is likely to be every time)
Again, the one thing we really like is that we can launch it, use it for maybe one or two hours and then destroy the droplet with one click
I like how easy is deploy and manage your applications. DigitalOcean offers you the a high level of security availability, so your work gets easy every day
DigitalOcean doesn't cover a lot of place so your application can run slow depending on where you're planning to have impact, for example Latin America
I feel it's more in aspects like architecture, it solves a lot of problems, the deploy it's easy, the management of apps it's easy too. So digital Ocean offer you a great price for what you have to do if you Tun in bare metal, you don't need a physical place, a security guard, you don't have to pay for electricity and a lot of things if you run your app in bare metal. And that without talking about installing and operation system and backups....
DigitalOcean is excellent for flexible affordability. I have taught myself server management, optimization, deployment workflows, and scripted maintenance because it is easy to get new servers running to trial new concepts. It has been irreplaceable in this way. The skillset I've been able to develop thanks to their resources has helped my career.
If you mess up, you are on your own, as advertised. However, it is the most significant downside. The support team can usually point me in the right direction, which has helped me through a few tight spots.
As someone who collects domains like trading cards and has a new idea every month, DigitalOcean enables me to build and test out these new concepts quickly and affordably. Droplets are my playground, and I have been moving slowly to Apps for ideas that need more stable servers.
What I like most about Digital Ocean is the simplicity of the products as well as the prices.
Not many regions supported as other cloud providers.
Deploying applications using Kubernetes but also using VMs for general workloads, CI/CD and running web apps.
Simple pricing model, simple UI, powerful tools!
Lack of support for adding Spaces with domains managed by external DNSes (with Let's Encrypt automatic integration)
DO makes it pain-free to quickly and reliably deploy Droplets and other products without having to walk through multiple hoops and configurations in complicated interfaces.
No downtime, the website is easy to navigate and make changes to the droplet.
I have not had any issues with Digital Ocean. Compared to AWS, DO servers are much cheaper. I do wish that over time the DO prices would drop as the AWS server prices do.
Building a financial web app, making a NiFI cluster, exploring some network security for a class.
DigitalOcean's User Experience is outstanding.
DigitalOcean doesn't offer as many services as some competitors, but they are adding a lot of them at a fast pace.
DigitalOcean provides the best experience for developers, something which is not the case for many of the conventional cloud providers.
Spinning up servers is incredibly easy, and I've never had a problem understanding how it works. Again the documentation is excellent. Additionally there are many 3rd party dashboard providers that make it very easy to make multiple servers in one place.
There is not much to dislike. Up time over the past 10 years has been superb. I'm a little bit unhappy about the recent price increases since the company has grown exponentially since their beginnings, and if anything the economies of scale should bring prices down not up.
I run websites! The main problem DO helps me to solve is to spin up test environments. This reduces downtime of the live servers, and improves productivity significantly.
Very easy to use and very affordable for the team
Being able to easily work with others and share the organisation
Very easy to use and uts affordable
The really simple user interface, and the relation price/service.
The recent price adjustment. I know it's an update needed due to inflation, but it does't make me happy.
Its the best Cloud/VPS i found after trying other services.
Ease of use, variety of droplet offerings.
Restrictions on free tier. Disk space on droplets are too small.
Web app hosting for SMBs.
Quality products at an affordable price, with excellent support.
The networking page is limited in its functionality, even simple sorting would be a massive improvement when looking at domain name settings.
Hosting client websites with minimum fuss. Excellent uptime, responsive sites and less time wasted on hosting issues.
Stability, ease of use, straightforward user interface
Connection issues (though infrequent) in some countries
Website hosting
