I love how much I can do with Gravity Forms. I can connect it to MailChimp and Zapier to automate things. I can make it create and publish posts, allowing users to publish content from the front end. Gravity Forms is becoming the glue that holds my site together.
I have to think harder about this one. The support and documentation is stellar. I wish there were more robust math operations available to calculate fields. And a better way to have repeater fields in it.
See "what I like" section of this review. :)
I've always loved how extensible and easy to set up Gravity Forms is - It's a first-install for every site, whether for a simple contact form or something more complex.
I have no complaints. I don't love having to pay for license renewal, but I understand and appreciate that it supports ongoing development.
I've used it for a range of purposes, from email subscriptions to simple product sales and donation acceptance. I feel it's secure and consistently updated to reinforce that security.
Easy to use, flexible, tons of plugins, 3rd party add-ons and more. Intuitive and meets every need I've come up with.
I really can't find a lot to dislike. Documenation is clear, plugins are great, core functionality is strong.
I've used it for over a decade, as a developer for my clients, and then as an end user for my own businesses & nonprofit work. Works for payments, donations, survey and more.
My favorite part of Gravity Forms is the way that it connects with the rest of my marketing technology stack. It also makes it very easy to offer forms to my clients.
I wish there were easier ways to style some of the forms or ways that we could use the form fields better but I can usually do this with my page builders.
One very cool way that we use Gravity Forms is to allow registrations for licenses that we provide via PDF. I like being able to snap on additional functions as needed.
I love how easy Gravity Forms is to use and customize. It's also very easy for clients to use once their site has been turned over to them.
There really isn't anything I dislike about this plugin. There are some things I'd like to see added but other than that it rocks.
I've used gravity forms as a simple eCommerce solution, contact forms, job application, rental application, data collection, login form, account creation and more. The benefits are that I have a reliable solution to any type of form the client asks for.
Being to automate what happens to a form submission without needing custom coding has been a game changer. Using all their native connected apps plus the Zapier connection has allowed me to tie in to almost any system that I need to for different customers.
Wish that there were more native connected apps instead of using zapier.
Automating followups and scheduling meetings by connecting the contact forms to gotomeeting, zapier, zoho, and many more. Being able to take credit card payments has also been helpful.
Gravity Forms allow you to adapt your form to any business, and integrate many services to power your data. Crazy stuff, well documented, with proactive community. Crazy
Gravity Forms has no « multisite » dimension for now and should multiply payment gateways. But hard to find cons.
Manage huge quantity of data easily and push them to dedicated and external services. Good way to control user entries.
Tons of functionality, plus tons of add-ons, code snippets and more. There's little you can't accomplish with Gravity Forms! We use Gravity Forms on all our member's sites. We often replace inferior forms plugins with GF an can then eliminate issues or add functionality not possible on other plugins.
The interface isn't as smooth and nice as many of the newer forms plugins. Would love to see the UI get a modern makeover with full drag and drop. Plus I'm not a big fan of the way the CSS is setup and works. Would also like to see more style control or a better set of default styles at least.
Lots of stuff from simple contact forms to advanced ecommerce forms. Simple purchasing to complex applications. Gravity Forms is so flexible. Such an important tool to have in your toolbox.
Integration with other sites - being able to receive the form as an email but also use Zapier to create ways to store this data in Google Drive
would like more options available for payment gateways
being able to store data from my enquiry form has saved hours in yearly progress reports
You can create forms with ease and as a developer I can take that data and store it in custom database tables to use the data however I need!
There is nothing for me to dislike about it.
I have used Gravity Forms for many different types of data collection. For one client I created an Application Form for their vendors to be in their Home and Garden shows. Every time the form is filled out, the client and vendor receive an emailed copy. All the fields are then stored in a custom section of the database where my client can then go and edit and approve the vendor application. The vendor then gets an email with a link to pay for their booth space in the show. My client can later auto generate a list of all vendors in alphabetical order and under each category, showing the vendor name and booth space. This allows show attendees to know where at the show those vendors will be when they arrive. All this from a form that I can then save the data and use how I need!
The plugin comes with the ability to manage form responses natively within Wordpress. You can also customize form completion notifications to be sent to multiple people at once.
Not a lot to dislike here. The only thing that is tricky is that if you are using an email with the same domain as your website, then you'll need to set up a custom SMTP relay service with the form. Fortunately, Gravity forms has an add-on for that which makes install very easy. The add-on is a few bucks but essential and worth it.
We are able to isntall gravity forms easily on client websites and give them the ability to manage responses easily too.
Number one: Flexibility and conditional logic. For a large non-profit organization, we recently tried to switch to a CRM for donations. We had to switch back to Gravity Forms because the client cannot give up the flexibility and only revealing necessary fields to the user. Nobody wants to fill out a long form; users only want to see fields that are relevant to them. Number two: Neat integration with PayPal and Stripe. With IPN, we can easily see status of transactions, whether one time or recurring.
Seriously, nothing. I just wish it could act like a CRM and consolidate the entries by email address. That would be my dream come true. Though we've integrated it with external CRMs and Canvas.
I specialize in non--profit organizations and Gravity Forms is the perfect solution. Non profits often spend way too much on apps for donations and events.
I have been using Gravity Forms for a few years now and I install it on almost every one of my client’s Wordpress sites. It is a very flexible form builder with lots of options that can be applied for many different purposes. The conditional statements are also very useful. It is easy to customize the appearance as well. The support team is generally very responsive and helpful.
As a website developer I find the plugin relatively easy to use, but anytime I have to explain the features to my clients or where to find the entries they find it too confusing. There have been some plugin conflicts on occasion. I also get way too much spam submitted through the forms despite using a combination of spam blockers that the developers recommended.
One of the challenges I face is having to use CSS to override the default styles. It would be much more efficient if there was some way to change the basic styling within the Gravity Form settings without having to know code. However when used with a page builder such as Elementor, it integrates very well and there are some built in styling widgets, though those are also limited in scope. The main benefits of using Gravity Forms is that it integrates with so many different platforms. This is especially helpful when setting up different payment portals for clients or having information passed on to Mailchimp or Quickbooks.
I have made some very complicated forms and Gravity Forms has done the job very well each time
While I don't mind using add-ons, I sometimes wish that some simpler things were incorporated into the base software.
Forms that transfer data from form to form in a sequence of forms, highly secure encrypted forms, registrations and payments... and simple stuff like gathering names and emails.
Any time I need an integration, they have one available. It's also very easy to use. I don't like when forms plugins make you use all sorts fo shortcodes, and with Gravity forms, there's only one and it's the one to place it on the paqe you want.
Some of the integrations require Zapier, which can be confusing.
We use it to collect information from a wide variety of users and purposes. Sometimes we sell things, sometimes we collect and deliver data to a third party, sometimes we just ask a few questions, but anything we do is super easy and we can always find answers. Their support is also really good.
I appreciate the advanced field options. We've been using Gravity Forms for years and enjoy the reliability and security.
I wish that there was a shortcode generator within the form that would allow you to customize instead of having to rely on a basic builder to use the form integration. The majority of our pages are built with various page builders and we end up having to create a shortcode to insert. It's not a big deal, but would be nice to have.
Great for our clients with subscription services.
The ease of setting up forms are so simple. allows us to quickly and easily add to client sites. Also, the forms expand as the client has more needs, can do pricing, setup with email lists, send a custom email to clients. Nice that most of the functionality for conditional logic comes with it so you don't need to add on. I also enjoy that it is easy to see which site the license is on, so you can check out where you are using the license. Using Gravity Forms has helped save time when it comes to copying forms from one site to another and some pre-built styles are nice to use.
Styling can be a bit of a burden since it requires knowing the CSS prebuilt codes (CSS Ready Classes). But after a bit you learn them, just wish it allowed you to change the formatting within the form editor. This way you can use maybe a dropdown to pick the column type and then you can style without having to adjust css. Great for someone with front-end development knowledge, but the clients usually can't use it.
Trying to find a worpdress form plugin that does most things out of the box. This does that. We needed a custom solution to help take in client requests within our site. And then depending on how they answer it would send and adjust the output. Using Gravity Forms was easy to work with and allowed us to email multiple people and adjust the questions based on the answers the client provides.
It's completely customizable (even with Elementor - there are even Elementor addons that allow for further customization), it's a strong, reliable plugin that overall does everything I need and more. When I say more - it has integrations with just about anything you need it to integrate with. I use it with Zapier and Mailchimp add-ons for not only my own website, but for every new client website which we build as well. Gravity forms are also very simple to build - which is a big plus. I don't ever utilize any other type of form plugin on Wordpress other than Gravity forms. It's been that way for the past 3 years and will continue. Thank you Gravity forms for being so awesome!
It would be great if there was further styling options without adding css. It would also be awesome if there were a direct Elementor front-end form builder for Gravity Forms.
With Gravity Forms, I'm able to solve the past problems of email deliverability, simplicity of form protection with Google Recaptcha and more.
Incredibly easy to make forms, even complex multi-step forms or forms with payments. Great user interface. Great storage of form submissions, and notification customizations. Relatively simple to do more complex things as well, such as user-submitted custom post types.
You do need to provide CSS to make it look presentable. It would be nice if they packaged basic CSS themes with the plugin. They would still be able to customize on top of, but they would provide a better baseline presentation. Occasionally we have wished that we could implement some type of simple booking calendar (like for vacation rentals) more easily with it.
We setup Gravity Forms to take payments for clients, fill out applications, and even function as simple booking inquiry calendars.
I've been using Gravity Forms for a few years. It is very powerful out of the box, but some of the real magic happens when you extend it with Add-Ons.
Some of the Add-Ons are somewhat limited and could use improvement.
We are collecting client surveys before handling some equipment repairs, which facilitates the process when clients drop off equipment or ship it to us. We recently started accepting PayPal and Stripe payments right from the form entry. With some custom JavaScript, we are also looking up data from our Internal 4D server and also sending data back with the Webhooks Add-On.
Conditional logic allows me to have one form with many possibilities. No more multiple lead forms because Gravity Forms handles it effortlessly.
It doesn't have the prettiest UX on the admin side, but this is very nitpicky. Ultimately it doesn't matter what I see, it matters what my leads see.
I am using Gravity Forms to allow me to ask different leads the right questions. If someone just has a basic question or isn't starting a project, they shouldn't have to go through my whole lead capture form. Additionally, I have different questions for different types of projects so people can pick what they are interested in and only answer questions pertinent to that service.
The ability to create forms that allow purchases with a variety of payment gateways, but without engaging with or paying for a full e-commerce solution. I have installed this plug-in for many organizations and have collected tens of thousands of dollars through Gravity Forms.
Sometimes I’ll think of features that the forms don’t have that would be useful to a client. However those features typically eventually get added.
On a number of websites I have installed their form to blog post feature, which allows users to submit content for an admin to review and post really easily. I have used their forms to collect contest entries and of course payments and donations
Easy to use for anyone. And extremely powerful.
Nothing it's perfect for me as it is thanks
Checklists email workflows all in one
the ease of my webiste developers being able to create a form within 24 hours
We needed to do several "pages" of our products rather than just one long form
automatic estimates/quotes generated for our inquiring potential customers
It's fairly easy to set up the systems without previous knowledge of tech.
Many sources of tutorials. One official place to kick things off would be good.
Automating data collection and distribution of data between user databases
The ease of use and intuitive nature of Gravity Forms are my favorite.
The ReCaptcha integration could be a little more up to date, using V3.
Simple stylish form integration with Beaver Builder and Wordpres.
It's versatility and scalability to be ab le to build unique forms.
The non-existent front end UI to easily style the form.
Creating both complex and simplistic forms for every industry.
I love that I can build any form needed, add it anywhere using a shortcode and customize it even further with conditional logic etc. It helps make my business processes so much more seamless.
I don't really have any. I guess I would say there is a slight learning curve for some of the features but it's not so much a dislike as another reminder of how powerful Gravity Forms are.
Onboarding process for my clients and support forms
Their support is the best I’ve seen. They guide you through it all!
Could be a tad bit too technical for the newbie.
Automatic forms being integrated with email Marketing.
Gravity Forms is simple and powerful to use and extremely extensible. I use it for both simple and complex forms, from contact forms to event registrations.
Styling forms can be a bit tricky. I’d like to see some additional guidance and ready classes to help.
I use it for simple forms, like contacts forms, as well as complex forms, like event registrations.
