Annual billing saves 17.2% on Creator and 16.3% on Pro. HeyGen does not advertise a headline percentage, which sidesteps the “up to X%” problem most of its competitors have — the struck-through monthly price is shown beside the yearly one and you can do the sum yourself. No yearly rate for Business appeared in our captures; HeyGen’s own FAQ quotes it as ”$149/month plus $20/seat/month.”
The engine you choose costs more than the plan you buy
Run Creator’s 600 credits through each rate:

Two things fall out of that table.
Creator and Pro cost essentially the same per credit — 4.0 cents against 4.1 cents. Pro is not a volume discount; it is a quality and control upgrade (4K instead of 1080p, faster processing, all advanced models, and a selectable credit allowance) that happens to include 400 more credits at the same rate.
Business costs 2.4× Pro’s rate per credit. It is a governance purchase — SSO, SCORM, LMS integrations, shared workspace, centralised billing, interactive video — not a capacity one. Which leads to the arithmetic below.
Five Pro seats beat Business on both price and capacity
Business is $149 a month and includes one seat; additional seats are $20 each. A five-person team therefore pays $229 a month for 1,500 shared credits — 300 credits per person.
Five separate Pro seats on annual billing cost $205 a month and carry 5,000 credits — 1,000 each.
Cheaper, and 3.3 times the capacity. Business earns its premium only if you actually need what it adds: single sign-on, a shared workspace with draft commenting, SCORM export and LMS integrations, centralised billing, interactive video, or 60-minute videos. Those are real things and for a corporate L&D team they are the whole reason to be here. But do not buy Business expecting more room to work — you are buying less of it, per pound, than five individual seats would give you.
Two things worth checking before you subscribe
Pro’s credit allowance is a selector, not a fixed number. The “1,000 credits” box on the Pro card carries a dropdown chevron, and HeyGen’s FAQ confirms that Pro “starts at $49/month and scales up to tiers with more credits per month.” Those higher tiers are not printed on the card, so the $49 (or $41 annual) is a floor rather than the plan’s price. If your volume is above 1,000 credits, open the dropdown before assuming Pro is out of reach — or that it is cheap.
Credit rollovers are a Creator-and-above feature, listed explicitly on the Creator card. Business adds top-ups and auto-reload; Free has neither. That matters more than it sounds for a workload that arrives in bursts.
What actually decides your cost
- Which avatar engine you use, at 3 or 20 credits a minute — a 6.7× swing on identical output length.
- Whether your work is dubbing, translation or generation, since dubbing without lip sync is the cheapest thing HeyGen sells at 2 credits a minute.

Who Should Use HeyGen
HeyGen fits a team that needs a person on camera regularly and cannot film one regularly — product marketing shipping feature explainers, L&D producing training modules, and above all localisation, where lip-synced translation at 5 credits a minute is both the cheapest thing on the rate card and the hardest thing to replicate any other way. If you have one English video and need it in twelve languages, this is the tool.
It fits badly for anyone whose output is genuinely long-form. Thirty minutes of Avatar IV a month on Creator is one video, and at $0.80 a minute a serious video programme is a five-figure annual line item before you have edited anything. It also fits badly if avatar video is not actually your problem — a real screen recording with a real voice is cheaper, faster and usually more convincing.

We do not like to use our own faces due to data protection and HeyGen solves this issue.

Heygen fills the communication gaps that text is unable to capture
The quality of these look alikes can't be overstated. You might've tried something from a competitor, but it's really hard to treat them the same -- put simply, HeyGen passes some quality bar where I feel comfortable using it as a replacement for me and my brand (when I never would with another). I've also gotten to know the HeyGen team, and think the world of them. They've been incredibly easy to work with.
Could always use more free credits! But I'm happy to pay, as always.

Heygen does not carry forward the balance. This I do not like. In some months I may get time to make more videos whereas in some months less. I could not consume my total minutes quota in none of the months.
I can make videos in different languages required for my work. This is truly benefiting me. I have tested the final output with my friends speaking those languages. They confirmed that the translation is quite acceptable.
