iSpring QuizMaker Reviews: 4.6/5 — Highly Rated
iSpring QuizMaker is a comprehensive solution that allows you to create online quizzes, collect results, and analyze them via detailed reports. Despite its rich functionality, the tool is extremely easy to use. It comes with 14 preset question templates, including the ubiquitous multiple-choice and true or false and sophisticated drag-and-drop and hotspot questions. You just need to fill templates with text and media, and your quiz is ready to go.
To make quizzes more effective, you can set up branching and add feedback slides. You can also randomize questions and answers, and specify the number of attempts allowed to prevent cheating.
iSpring QuizMaker allows you to build stylish, professional looking courses. With a variety of color settings for the player panels, background, buttons, and preset design themes, you can align the quiz with the design of your brand or develop your own style.

iSpring QuizMaker runs on Windows 11 and 10 only, and that single line decides whether the rest of this review is relevant to you. There is no macOS version and no browser version. What you get instead is something the web-based quiz tools cannot do: exports in SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5, with compatibility iSpring says it has manually verified against 156 learning management systems. One price, $470 per user per year, no tiers.
- What it is: A Windows desktop quiz and test builder for corporate e-learning.
- Best for: L&D teams delivering assessments through an LMS on Windows machines.
- Pricing: $470 USD per user per year. Verified August 2026.
- The honest catch: Windows only — no Mac, no web, no exceptions.
What Is iSpring QuizMaker?
iSpring QuizMaker is a desktop application for building quizzes, tests and assessments, sold by iSpring, a company that has been making PowerPoint-based e-learning authoring tools since 2001. It sits in a different world from the quiz builders most people encounter: where Typeform and Interact make marketing quizzes that capture leads, QuizMaker makes graded assessments that report scores back to a learning management system.
That orientation shows in what it supports. Question types go well beyond multiple choice — iSpring cites “put the right word in the right place” style interactions among them — and the output formats are the corporate e-learning standards: SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5. The company states it has “manually verified quiz and test compatibility in terms of playback on desktop, tablet, laptop, and mobile devices, as well as accuracy of scoring and reporting” across 156 LMSs. Whatever else is true, that is a specific and checkable claim of a kind this review series does not see often.
The constraint is stated plainly on the product page: “For Windows 11/10, 32- and 64-bit.” No macOS build, no web version. If your instructional designers work on Macs, this product is unavailable to them at any price.

What actually decides your cost:
- Windows-only is the first filter, and it is absolute. The product page states “For Windows 11/10, 32- and 64-bit”. There is no Mac client and no browser version, so a mixed-platform L&D team cannot standardise on it. Compare that with Interact, involve.me or Typeform, all of which run anywhere with a browser. Establish your team’s operating systems before you evaluate features.
- One price is genuinely simpler than the alternative. $470 per user per year, no tiers, no seat bands, no feature-gated editions. Everything QuizMaker does is in the one licence. After reviewing products with three simultaneous meters — Recruit CRM’s seats plus five add-ons, Attio’s seats plus two credit pools — a flat annual per-user price is a real virtue that is easy to undervalue.
- The SCORM export is what you are actually paying for. SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5 are the formats a corporate LMS ingests, and marketing-oriented quiz tools do not produce them. If you need a quiz whose score lands in your LMS gradebook against a named employee, the field of alternatives narrows immediately — and iSpring’s claim of verified compatibility with 156 LMSs, including scoring and reporting accuracy rather than just playback, is a stronger form of that claim than most vendors make.
- The Suite products include quizzes, so check whether you need the standalone at all. iSpring Suite at 970€ per author lists 14 types of quizzes among its features, alongside role-plays, branching scenarios, video lectures, screencasts and flipbooks. If you are authoring courses rather than only tests, the Suite is the product and QuizMaker is redundant. If you only build assessments, the standalone at $470 is the cheaper route — but confirm which quiz capabilities differ between them before deciding, because the pages do not compare them directly.
- The currency changes between pages, which makes that comparison awkward. The QuizMaker page quoted $470 USD to our location while the main pricing page quoted 970€, 1,290€ and 720€ to the same visitor in the same session. We could not operate the currency control to obtain both in one currency, and we have not converted the figures, since applying our own exchange rate would invent precision the pages do not provide. Ask for a single-currency quote before comparing standalone against Suite.
- The 5% online discount applies to the Suite products, not visibly to QuizMaker. “GET 5% OFF when you buy online” appears on all three Suite cards. The QuizMaker page shows $470 with no equivalent badge — worth asking about, since a 5% saving is roughly $23.50.
- Several discount routes exist but none are published. iSpring advertises educator pricing, nonprofit pricing, and quotes for high-volume, academic and freelance licences — all by request. For a school, university or charity that could be the difference between viable and not, and none of it is self-serve.
- The 14-day trial is full-functionality, which for authoring software matters more than usual: you can build a real assessment, export it and test it against your actual LMS before committing. Given the whole value proposition is LMS compatibility, use the trial to verify it on your own system rather than trusting the 156-LMS figure.
-
The affiliate link works, and it works in an unusual way.
/go/ispring-quizmakerresolves toispringsolutions.com/#a_aid=…— attribution carried in a URL fragment, which browsers do not send to servers. We confirmed it works anyway: the fragment is consumed on load and aPAPVisitorIdcookie is set, so Post Affiliate Pro registered the referral client-side. Worth noting because a naive server-side check would conclude the affiliate ID was never transmitted.
Who Should Use iSpring QuizMaker
- Corporate L&D teams on Windows. SCORM and xAPI output straight into an existing LMS.
- Compliance and certification programmes. Graded assessments with accurate score reporting.
- Organisations already using iSpring. It fits the same toolchain and support arrangement.
- Teams that want one simple licence. $470 a user, no tiers to model.
It fits poorly for anyone on macOS or wanting browser-based authoring; for marketing teams building lead-capture quizzes, where far cheaper web tools are better shaped; and for course authors, who should price iSpring Suite instead since it includes quizzing.
Honest Pros and Cons
Strengths
- One flat price — $470 per user per year, no tiers.
- SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5 export.
- Compatibility verified against 156 LMSs, including scoring accuracy.
- 14-day trial with full functionality.
- 24/7 support by phone, email and chat across the range.
- Educator, nonprofit and volume discounts available.
Limitations
- Windows 11/10 only — no macOS, no web version.
- Overlaps with iSpring Suite, which includes 14 quiz types.
- Currency differs between iSpring’s own pages, complicating comparison.
- The 5% online discount is not shown on the QuizMaker page.
- All the discount routes are quote-only.
- Far more expensive than marketing quiz tools, for a different job.
iSpring QuizMaker Alternatives and How It Compares
- Thrive Quiz Builder is the WordPress lead-generation alternative, reviewed elsewhere in this series.
- Interact is a hosted quiz builder aimed at marketers.
- involve.me covers quizzes, forms and calculators in the browser.
- Typeform leads on respondent experience for surveys.
- Articulate Storyline is the closest full e-learning authoring competitor, though it has no Findstack listing.
The Verdict
Most of the decision here is made before you look at a feature list. iSpring QuizMaker runs on Windows 11 and 10 only — no Mac, no browser — so for a large share of readers the evaluation ends at the system requirements. For everyone else, what the licence buys is not really a quiz builder in the sense that Typeform or Interact are quiz builders. It is an assessment authoring tool for corporate e-learning, and its value sits almost entirely in the export formats: SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5, with iSpring stating it has manually verified playback and scoring and reporting accuracy across 156 learning management systems.
That reframes the price. $470 per user per year looks steep beside Thrive Quiz Builder at $99 in year one, but Thrive is a WordPress plugin for capturing marketing leads and cannot put a graded score into an LMS gradebook. These are not substitutes, and the gap is a difference of category rather than of value. Against genuine e-learning authoring tools, $470 for a single-purpose assessment builder is unremarkable.
The pricing itself is refreshingly plain: one price, no tiers, no seat bands, no add-ons. After several products in this series with two or three simultaneous meters, a flat annual per-user licence deserves credit. The complication is overlap. iSpring Suite at 970€ per author lists 14 types of quizzes among its features, so anyone authoring courses rather than only assessments should price the Suite instead — and iSpring’s own pages never compare the two directly, so ask what quiz capability differs before choosing.
Two practical notes. iSpring’s QuizMaker page quoted us dollars while its pricing page quoted euros in the same session, and we could not operate the currency control to reconcile them — so get a single-currency quote before comparing standalone against Suite, and do not rely on your own conversion. And the 5% online-purchase discount shown on all three Suite cards does not appear on the QuizMaker page; it is worth asking whether it applies, since 5% of $470 is about $23.50. Then use the full-functionality 14-day trial for the only test that matters: build a real assessment, export it, and load it into your actual LMS.
FAQ
How much does iSpring QuizMaker cost?
$470 USD per user per year, as displayed to our location in August 2026. There is a single price with no tiers, seat bands or feature-limited editions, and a 14-day free trial with full functionality. Note that iSpring’s main pricing page served euros to the same visitor for its Suite products, so ask for a single-currency quote if you are comparing them.
Does iSpring QuizMaker work on a Mac?
No. The product page states “For Windows 11/10, 32- and 64-bit”. There is no macOS application and no browser-based version, so a team working on Macs cannot use it. Browser-based alternatives such as Interact, involve.me and Typeform run on any platform, though none of them produce SCORM output.
What makes iSpring QuizMaker different from a normal quiz tool?
Its output. QuizMaker exports SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5 — the packaging formats corporate learning management systems ingest — so scores report back against named learners in an LMS gradebook. iSpring states it has manually verified compatibility across 156 LMSs, covering playback on desktop, tablet, laptop and mobile as well as scoring and reporting accuracy. Marketing quiz builders do not do this.
Should I buy iSpring QuizMaker or iSpring Suite?
It depends on whether you build courses or only assessments. iSpring Suite at 970€ per author per year includes 14 types of quizzes alongside PowerPoint-based course authoring, role-plays, branching scenarios, video lectures and screencasts, so buying QuizMaker separately would be redundant for a course author. If you only build tests, the $470 standalone is cheaper. iSpring does not publish a feature comparison between the two, so ask what quiz capabilities differ.
Are there discounts on iSpring QuizMaker?
Several routes exist but none are self-serve. iSpring advertises 5% off when you buy online on its Suite products (that badge does not appear on the QuizMaker page), plus quote-based educator pricing, nonprofit pricing, and custom quotes for high-volume, academic and freelance licences. For schools, universities and charities it is worth requesting a quote rather than paying list.

We can now create custom training packages and publish for our staff and suppliers to complete online using PC or tablets. We have created packages that include inductions, Environmental awareness training , H&S training and alerts. With iSpring we create presentations with a questions section to test for understanding of the training. The results are then emailed with results and pass/fail.
I haven't come across any areas that I dislike but am looking forward to future enhancements
We are now able to create training packages that can be completed by both internal and external people.
We selected Quiz Maker for employees that are not programmers to build quizzes and publish them in SCORM for our LMS. We barely touch all the application's abilities but have linked PDFs, embedded videos, and used probably half of the various question types. What has been a fabulous bonus is their technical support - Paul Bender - helped us solve a problem with Quiz Maker launching that ended up being our system's Window Updates and not the tool at all. He was extremely patient and helped us work out the issue by sharing our screen, suggesting next steps, sending step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting, reviewing our course in SCORM CLOUD, then suggesting that we run a Win 7 Update that fixed both Win 7 and 10.
The scoring is a little tricky with percentages so we use actual points for the scores instead.
Quiz Maker allows others to create SCORM quizzes and frees up the instructional designers to work on the tutorials and other larger projects.
iSpring QuizMaker has proven to be an excellent tool for creating and administering quizzes for our organization. It is easy to use, very intuitive, and provides the reporting capability we were looking for. If you are in the market for an excellent quiz making software, I strongly recommend giving iSpring QuizMaker a try!
There is nothing that I currently dislike about the product. It has accomplished everything that we had hoped it could do.
We needed to create quizzes on aviation for our pilots and maintenance staff. Our staff found it to be very user friendly and enabled us to move in the direction of a digital solution instead of using paper.
This tools allows for interactive quiz making that can connect to your LMS.
I wish it was not only flash based. It can benefit from better animations and some more features
I am in education and it gives options to teachers who would like to provide students with an interactive experience.
After an half an hour you understand the program well enough to build all kind of tests. And the support team seems to be on stand by, if you need them.
Nothing. The program does what it should do: Creating tests in a fast and simple way. Keep it as simple to use as it is today.
Accelerate creating preparation tests for students and/or exams. Needs 30% less time than before.
Studied for this quiz not too hard to do.
I like the program how it works and what it teaches .
