Help me fix my calender whenever an emergency arises.
Would be useful to be able to link mails or documents, or add # directly in the quick Add task menu
helps me keep track of my deadline
It helps me understand my time better and assists in prioritization. I like the warning feature that lets me know if something won't meet a target deadline so I can rearrange or let others know we need to push a deadline. The project feature is great, along with the ability to trigger tasks based on the completion of others. I would love it if that could be integrated with recurring tasks as well
Motion doesn't hold completed tasks on the calendar, so I can't go back and see how I spent my time after the fact. If I don't keep it updated, it obviously can't prioritize correctly, but updating becomes a task unto itself. It took some time to get clear on how Motion prioritizes tasks- sometimes I disagree with the assessment, so to get my calendar to match my priorities, I have to tinker with the settings on my tasks until they fit my desired priority ranking The app is the biggest obstacle- it takes a long time to sync, and calendars frequently drop from it entirely, so I don't have visibility to my meetings when I'm trying to make plans away from my desktop. It also only keeps info updated for two weeks, and I need visibility well beyond a 2-week timeframe at my fingertips.
Task planning- it takes the planning out of when something will be accomplished, and I know it will make sure all my tasks take place before their deadline, taking stress of my shoulders to order things properly.
It keeps my tasks organized. If I skip one, it will find another place for it to go.
Not everything is intuitive, and it is more geared towards businesses than personal lives.
It's picking tasks for the day, and encouraging less procrastination.
It has liberated my mind from constantly stressing about getting my todos finished in time -> my tasks are scheduled and inconsistencies are flagged. My mind is clear thanks for Motion.
Since they've added the project management features, I've been a bit lost, and Motion has as well. Some of my tasks got lost and I had to go dig them up. Dependencies don't seem to get scheduled and stuff got lost on the wayside as a results. Dissappointing. Maybe a good tutorial would help?
The scheduling system is really great, I schedule most of my meetings that way. Would be great to have an option for 'inperson' vs 'online' meetings. In terms of productivity, on those days where you don't know where to start, Motion will tell you where to start and that is priceless.
They automatically help you to reschedule your tasks if you don't complete them. This is very useful if you aren't good at estimating how long it takes to complete your tasks or if you easily get distracted by other events
The desktop app can be buggy at times and is not as fast as I would like it to be. Hence, there are I am too lazy to organise my tasks and i end up not using motion for a week or so. The unusable mobile app also makes me use Motion less
Motion helps to automatically reschedule tasks that I dont complete and helps to find a time for everything. To be honest, what it really helps me with is to assure me that I can get my stuff done at the start of the week or whenever I try to organise my stuff
The algorithm does a great job of taking the guesswork out of planning and scheduling work. The meeting scheduling tool is a great addition and is easy to use. Overall, the platform delivers on it's promise to make you more effective.
I spend 90% of my day working in a browser window - so when Motion was available as a sidebar/extension, I was able to use the tools directly in the context I spent all day in. The move to an app has made things more of a pain, and reduced the usefulness of the platform as I now have to switch contexts. I reached out to Motion with some feedback about this, and never heard back.
Spending less time planning and organizing work, booking meetings, managing my calendar and making sure that I stay productive. It helps me spend less time switching between tasks and evaluating what to do next.
I like the idea of being able to just dump tasks in as soon as I think of them and leave it to the AI to schedule everything. I also really like the calender scheduling feature that creates snippets, I would pay just for that feature.
There are a bunch of obviously missing features (e.g searching your tasks) and a lot of bugs. It used to be a web-app/chrome extension and the switch to desktop is strictly worse. The desktop app still requires internet access to function at all so there's little benefit to the desktop version and things like the task banner no longer appear where you're working.
Motion helps me schedule meetings and manage my task list.
Motion is a great tool and has a lot of features, and it really helps with productivity.
I feel like the product is stuck and is not moving forward except for small updates here and there. The mobile app is nearly unusable, with no integration with other tools, and te customization features are very limited.
I can say that Motion is a great tool and has a lot of features, and it really helps with productivity
The idea is brilliant - being able to create tasks and have them automatically sorted into existing time in my schedule could be a game changer.
After a good experience in my first few months, things changed. The layout and visual presentation changed and there is no way for the user to change it back or alter it in any way, other than light or dark mode. The book calendar which I thought was amazing... well, it stopped working. The links generated to the booking calendar populated a page that said I had NO availability. As I was dealing with that, my task list in the sidebar changed from listing ONLY tasks to including ALL of my daily meetings. It was impossible to find tasks. One of the (previous) advantages of Motion was being able to shift the assigned time to work on a task if priorities changed. Technically, you can still do that... IF you can find the task. The worst part was trying to reach support. First I got sent to an AI model which provided incorrect information. Next, I went into "live" chat which identified itself after the fact as a bot (which also did not provide accurate or helpful information. Finally, I was able to send a message to support. However, over 24 hours later, no one has even looked at my message.
Motion is NOT solving any problems. The concept is amazing, but the poor implementation has CREATED problems, such as booking links populating pages that indicate I have no availability to meet, ever, on any calendar day.
