Compare Pulley with other popular tools in the same category.
Pully gave me a quote pretty much immediately, responded at off-hours to questions and onboarding, and had a great price point. They handled the labor of switching off of a legacy platform. I got fully implemented with Pulley in 45 minutes of work over a span of 12 hours.
It would have been nice if you provided more specific instructions on how to close my legacy cap table management software account.
Saving money. Keeping investors and the business organized.
I like the fact that we can use our own documents, especially for options. Combine that and other futures with the competitive pricing and you have a win.
So far I have no complaints about the service or the product.
Pulley makes it easy for investors and option holders to review their equity and monitor changes to the cap table.
Easy to understand for adding details. Corrections can be made for an error if made. The support team is quick in responding and giving resolutions.
Changes to documents to be used as templates are a bit time-consuming.
saves manual updation of all CAP table management
Pulley has been a game changer for manaing our cap table. It's user-friendly and packed with features that are essential for cap table management. Pulley's UI is intuitive, it isn't overly busy, but is still feature-rich. Inputting stock agreements is super simple, including uploading new stock agreements for the same investor. Understanding your cap table at a glance is a key strength, especially for complex equity dynamics with multiple stock classes, SAFEs, etc. The standout features for me are 1) Pulley's Excel export function (it's perfect for diving into the details of the cap table or when you need to share it) and 2) Pulley's scenario modeling for future fundraising situations. I recommend Pulley to startup founders and entrepreneurs. It simplifies cap table management like no other tool I've used. Strongly recommended!
The automated feature when uploading a stock purchase agreement or SAFE still needs work, but it can be helpful. Sometimes the navigation can feel a bit TOO layered, but this isn't a make or break issue for me.
Pulley solves the problem of cap table management and understanding where your future equity ownership will fall, which is so important when raising on SAFEs in particular.
No other equity management tool even comes close to Pulley in terms of ease of use, support, features, and best of all - pricing.
I can't think of any downsides. Pulley really does hit the mark for founders.
Everything related to equity - primarily fundraising and keeping track of securities/options.
Easier and cheaper than Carta, great team to work with
Only feature I wish they'd improve is that you're required to upload an Excel cap table to start
Cap table management. Carta is big, painful to work with, cumbersome. They are better. As a startup we don't want to waste time and money on cap table management.
Easy cap table, excellent customer service
Lack of ability to edit stock purchase agreement templates
Equity Management
The experience with Pulley has been nothing short of exceptional over the last 2 years. The team at Pulley has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to providing top-notch customer service, a lightning-fast response rate, and a deep well of expertise in the field. From the moment I engaged with Pulley, their team was attentive, professional, and genuinely eager to help. Their customer service representatives were always available to answer my questions, no matter how trivial or complex. I was particularly impressed by their ability to respond to my inquiries in a timely manner, often within minutes of receiving my email or phone call. This level of responsiveness is a rare find in today's business landscape, and it truly sets COMPANY apart from their competitors. One of the standout aspects of Pulley services is their knowledgeable team members. It is clear that they invest in hiring the best talent in the industry, ensuring that each team member possesses a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in cap table management. This expertise was evident in the way they meticulously handled every aspect of our cap table, from ensuring accurate documentation to providing insightful advice on best practices. The level of detail and care that Pulley's team demonstrated throughout the entire process was simply exceptional. They continuously kept me in the loop during onboarding, and they made sure to address any concerns or questions that arose along the way. This proactive approach to communication not only put my mind at ease but also contributed to the overall success of our project.
The automated document system can be improved but has made significant additions over time. I think a slightly better documentation structure for some of the common flows would be helpful e.g. a swimlane type diagram and triggers / which variables are changed at each stage of the process.
Staying compliant and up-to-date on all equity management, as well as a source of truth for all legal documentation, templates, automation, and support along the way for someone knew to the whole ecosystem.
Hands-on support, easy interface, flexibility to update cap tabel, and cost.
I have been using Pulley for about six months, and I have not found anything I would change to date.
Pulley helps us manage our equity effectively and accurately. It helps us save time and headaches when comparted to our old platform, Carta.
Helps me convert new hires, explain equity value to employees, as well as manage all of existing equity stakeholders! Excellent usability.
Haven't found any yet. I don't dislike anything.
Employee hiring, value explanations to employees, equity management
We are an 18 year old company that has kept our cap table on a spreadsheet. We tried another leading cap table software provider and had to abandon them after 6 months of trying to set things up. The Pulley team was able to work with our spreadsheet and our management team to set things up in a fraction of the time it was taking the other leading company. We were able to get a 409a done from that setup with minimal effort on our side. We are thrilled with the product and the service we have received. This will be a much larger company in a few years.
While we are thrilled with Pulley they still lack a few features that will show our employees the value of their holdings now and in the future. We are optimistic that future releases will provide that.
Moving our cap table online and providing access to share holders
Helps me manage my cap table suuuper easily. It's great to have a single placer to organize all our documents.
I'm getting used to issueing our SAFEs via Clerky, so I'm not sure if I'll like to transition to Pulley later on. We'll see!
Managing our cap table.
They onboarding was seamless and super fast, their support team is super ready to help you anytime. The offering on 409A valuations also went without issues and was resolved fairly quickly. UX/UI super founder friendly
Lawyers and law firms are super dogmatized by Carta that we you mention you are using an alternative they tend to wash their hands to not help you through the onboarding process
Cap Table Management, ESOP Issuance, Fundraising dillution modeling
Immediately responsive with knowledgable people that actually fix your problem, no matter how complicated or simple.
It makes me realize other SAAS apps I spend more with are woefully behind.
Any and all problems with our cap table.
I recommend Pulley to all of my portfolio companies. It provides the fastest turnaround on the 409A valuation (< 5 days). Onboarding happens the next day, and support is always responsive. What stands out about Pulley from other cap table tools is the legal document generation. Pulley creates a signed document I can reference for my investments on all grants. A signed copy makes it easier for my accountants and lawyers during diligence. Pulley makes is easy for investors and employees to see the latest company cap table.
I wish more companies used Pulley. More companies on the platform would make it easier for me to track my entire portfolio.
409A valuations - Most valuation firms automate the entire process. Pulley spend the time to understand the market and business for each of our portfolio companies to yield a fair and defensible report in less than five days. Portofolio tracking - I receive real-time updates of the cap table from all of my portfolio companies.
Pulley's user experience is second to none. Their note-issuing sequence is painless and has saved me countless hours. Additionally, the inclusion of calculators in-app that pull in my existing cap table just lets me get all of my work done in-app, instead of hopping from spreadsheet to spreadsheet. On the customer service side, the two I have interacted with so far are Lam and Jordan. They are both stellar, respond quickly, are knowledgeable about the platform and fundraising in general. Their service alone would make this review a 10/10, even if the platform was crap (which it isn't).
Not much. The only negative is the somewhat unclear onboarding process, but I believe that should be chalked up more to my ignorance than anything else.
1. Easily create, issue, and keep track of SAFEs and other convertibles. 2. Easily invite my investors to their portals so they have visibility into their investments.
It's really built for my use case as a founders. It tells me what I need, when I need it. A lot of other providers terrify me, there's a lot of functionality I don't necessarily need (or know I need) and I don't want to pay for it until I do. Pricing reflects, was free for me to do modeling, get notifications for 83b and other tax things. They'd only charge me when my startup matured to the stage where I needed a paid service (like a 409A). Customer onboarding was super easy, functionality is there. Support is lightning fast if you need it. I was an early user, gave feedback and had an almost immediate response. Was apparent when I started and even now that their feature development is through the roof -- they're constantly adding new features :)
None so far. I've had a great experience as an early user -- they've grown as my needs have. Looking forward to seeing the product continue to evolve :)
Tooling is built for founders. So for me, it solved modeling before my round (have a tool for that), recording equity and telling me about my vesting schedule (after we incorporated), and telling me what tax things I needed to file (83b). Also the education was great -- they told me what tools I'd need in the future (409A for hiring our first employee).
The overall customer onboarding was seamless, and there wasn't a point where I was lost and couldn't find any help whatsoever. If I was stuck, they offered to get on a call and help me guide through everything part by part. In addition, overall, the pricing scheme is the best out of all I researched, and they continue to improve and develop the platform. Huge shoutout to Zyrah and Florence for being MVPs.
None, whatosever. Some parts maybe as a newbie was harder to understand but it was always explained very clearly.
Pulley is helping us easily track all stakeholders involved in the company, who invested in us, who has equity, our ESOP program and our token cap table. Pretty much an all in one platform.
This is not just cap table Mgmt software, the customer success team is as knowledgeable and helpful as my Silicon Valley Law Firms and with no lawyering overcharges!
Pulley is started to connect with other services such as Clerky which is great, their Plaid connector does not work well though which makes 83B elections a hassle.
I am a X6 CEO, and managing a cap table is 50% of the challenge, the funding simulator is amazing. Love it!
Very simple dashboard of equity, options and investments.
Must upgrade for document signing and custom templates.
Cap table management and 409A.
Pulley is SIMPLE to use, customer service is outstanding, and the Pulley Team will work with you.
The price was. a bit higher than I like, but it was worth it.
None.
Pulley has a very simple, logical and clean layout. The function you need is often just one click away. The Cap Table "Summary" gives a bird's-eye view of fully diluted ownership while the "Detail" helps you track the history. The Data Room helps store and organize all the key legal documents related to share issuance, conversion and option grants, etc. The onboarding team is truly awesome, very knowledgable, thorough, responsive and patient. They are always standing by to answer any questions and follow up with our legal details to ensure our cap table is 100% accurate.
None so far. Pulley has provided much and more than I expected in terms of user experience and support. When we completed the onboarding process, we were 95% ready for our auditor's requests on equities and stock options, saving tremendous time on both sides.
The Pulley onboarding process helps us sort out the history of our fundraising events, organize the essential legal supporting docs, and bridge the gaps between the books and different versions of excel cap tables. The final result of the onboarding is not only accurate but also easy to read and to communicate with various stakeholders, and definitely, our auditor highly appreciates it!
The support team behind Pulley is the reason I am writing this review. They were diligent and helpful through every step of this process, walking me through all pieces necessary in getting our cap table up to date. We are an early-stage startup, so the features that we have used thus far been simple and easy.
I have a limited perspective on this as we haven't used many of the advanced features yet, but the one bummer is not being able to issue simple stock purchase agreements through the platform without bumping our payment tier from "startup" to the more expensive option. This meant I needed to manually import documents, which is fine, but this feature would be appreciated on the startup plan.
Pulley is making it easy to manage our small, but growing, cap table. Having software manage the headaches involved with this process is a necessity, and keeping things organized will make it easier for us to raise funds when the time comes.
Pulley is very easy to use, with a well designed dashboard. Views and reports at the click of a button. The onboarding staff was great to work with and very responsive throughout the process, and they were able to manage all of our complexities along the way.
No complaints thus far. We are still in the early stages since we imported to Pulley, but we have not come across any issues with any of the features we have used to date.
We have a very large investor base, and we were trying to manage our cap table in spreadsheets. Pulley has allowed us to automate the process and will allow us to better communicate with our shareholders.
The layout of the Dashboard is very simple and easy to read. The program itself is very user friend, editing and adding information is very easy to do and customer support has been incredibly responsive and helpful.
We're still in the beginning stages but so far we don't have any dislikes. Everything seems to be operating great and if we do have any issues or questions they have been addressed right away.
Pulley is helping us to keep accurate records while all of our admin of Pulley are still able to see all updates all the time, which has been extremely helpful. Pulley is also a great space for us to keep our stockholder's investments organized and available for not only our company but the individuals themselves.
Customer service, definitely. Their team give us a great experience as users.
There are some features that are not still available. Hopefully they will soon. RSU certificates with double trigger for example.
We have our cap table organized and all documents in the same place. Also, our stockholders can follow the status of their securities
Pulley is easy to use in every way, but my favorite feature is the modeling. Pulley modeling allows a founder to actually see the dilutive impact of each SAFE or Convertible Note she or he enters into prior to doing the deal. It is flexible and able to correctly model pre or post-money SAFEs as well as option pools in a matter of seconds. An incredible time and money saver. Pulley is truly an essential tool.
Nothing that I know of so far. Pulley just needs increased adoption to become the standard.
My favorite problem that Pulley solves is to spare the time and energy it takes either the founder or their legal counsel struggling with an excel spreadsheet trying to model what is happening to a Company's cap table with each new SAFE. Pulley accomplishes in seconds what would otherwise take hours.
It’s so easy to track everything with Pulley. Giving options to your employees, seeing who’s exercised them, repurchases, terminations etc. It always surprises me how much they offer for their price point. Their customer service is also exceptional. I also really appreciate how their Growth Plan includes 409 valuations.
Support can sometimes be slower on the weekends.
Almost any process I need to do that affects or has to do with the equity of my company I can do right in Pulley. Fabulous platform.
As a fast-growing company reducing the time required to manage our cap table was an immediate win. The cap table view allows us to show the different types of investors in a single view with quick access to all related documents and agreements. I appreciate the built-in workflow to gain approval from board members and stockholders. A real upside with Pulley is the easy-to-use Fund Raising Modelling to perform "what-if analysis" for different fundraising scenarios without the need for spreadsheets. From a company perspective, Pulley support will jump in at any point to help. For time-critical items, we also like the context-sensitive videos to self-serve.
At this point, we haven't come across any sort coming of Pulley. We look forward to seeing how Pulley takes the solution forward to support and advise smaller companies through all growth phases.
Provide investors with accurate and current cap table, reduce effort and legal costs related to the management of our cap table, modeling future rounds to understand the impact on ownership.
Everything about Pulley is fast and simple - great for busy founders. Onboarding took less than a day. 409A valuation is underway and I expect to hear back in less than five days. Their product provides consumer-grade UX, so it is easy to understand and use.
Nothing I can think about off the top of my head.
I’ve used other platforms as an employee, and wish we had had Pulley. They make it easy for me to manage everything that happens before the equity management stage: calculating dilution during fundraising, giving employees an offer letter, form documents, and more.
