We were able to vastly increase our web capabilities with a small amount of set-up!
We haven't discovered any downsides yet!
Contentful is incredibly easy to use for technical and non-technical folks. After integrations, we are able to update our site and run experiments without requiring dev time, so we're faster & more efficient.
The site is really easy to use and self-explanatory - as a new member of my team, I needed minimal training and can quite easily figure things out myself.
We have had a couple of issues with overlapping media - it would be good to flag when two pieces of media clash as multiple media owners are using it.
Setting publications/unpublish is great - initially, we were doing this manually, and media was left live, and we also couldn't have changeover on the weekend - so this has opened up a lot of options.
Contentful as the only content platform that will help us!
it may not yet integrate with our Sveltekit framework :(
We are teachers and nothing is more pleasant than teaching! We DO NOT want to manage Databases and Contentful as the only content platform that will help us! - Structure, improve the delivery and collaborative editing of our Academic content for our teachers, students. - Unify our Documentation Resource, Academic Blog, Knowledge Center, Internal Documentation of teachers, administrative staff, Parents, students and the educational community. - We want to manage in Contentful our content system for our public channel, our academic blog. - We can integrate our AWS Educate platform, with JamStack, and Contentful! - We can use our current Framework and change it in the future.
Great for everyone who is creating the site, from API integration to less technical content management. It is incredibly effective and simple. I personally love the little fun snippets / questions that pop up when waiting a small moment for the page to load.
A little back button would be useful. When changing or tweaking content sometimes you're keen to go back a few steps to what was previously written, the version inbetween the last publish and the new one when you are editing on the fly. It means some creativity it is lost.
We required a simple CMS to include in the rebuild of our entire platform and after assessing other headless CMS we felt Contentful was right for our needs. Contentful also demonstrate great ethos as a company which is important for us.
Contentful has made it extremely easy to split the responsibilities for some of our web applications and allow development to operate separately from Content management. We're a non-technical organisation with staff having a wide range of experience levels and comfort regarding using technology so the ease-of-use and friendliness of Contentful's UI has been great. From a dev perspective having such flexible GraphQL/REST access to the data to pipe into multiple mediums is great.
Only missing feature I can think of is the ability to batch webhook requests. So no matter how many updates are made in [window of time] only one webhook request will be fired. Would save a lot of build minutes when it comes to static site rebuilding.
Separating our content and content-editing concerns from our presentational concerns has been a huge advantage. The team responsible for managing the data can operate separately from the team responsible for development, and multiple methods can be used to present that data to our organization's clients. We work with vulnerable people and not all are comfortable with using the internet to receive information, so we're able to present the same data using automatically generated leaflets and digital signage in our waiting rooms for the rest.
A unified structure to collect content form all sources and publish them as per your requirements. The tool provides a power open API integration that enables you to connect with any third app. The tool also have draft and editing option available for posted and scheduled content. It also keeps track of modification history to revert any change.
The program requires a developer to get the most out of it. There is no preview option available for your contents. Third party plugins like spell checker are not very efficient. Granting access to more people to work on one's content is not possible with a very difficult back end to operate correctly.
The tool is very helpful, flexible and cost efficient as compared to other content management systems. It has a very clean and powerful interface. The tool also enables folder organization and supports media uploads. Sometimes we faces access problem while giving our team rights to edit content.
Setting up a project takes minutes and then you are up and running. Also the environments mechanism makes it very easy to try out things. The UI is very easy to use.
The smaller instances could provide more languages and it would be good to set permissions on content level.
We create marketing microsites and corporate websites.
There are many thing I like about Contentful. For me, what I like best about Contentful is their commitment to enhancing and maturing the product. I have witnessed significant change of the product since I first started using it in 2016.
Due to Contentful's powerful content modeling capabilities, the web admin UI can become a challenge, especially when your solution involves many models. Happy to say that the admin UI continues to be enhanced and that Contentful has made serious strides forward over the last couple of years.
Primarily, I've leveraged Contentful for channel agnostic experience and content management. In a previous role, the team used Contentful to manage offers and mobile app configs.
Above all, the GraphQL API made it super easy to add the *exact* content we want to every area of our site. We just needed to inspect our Content Models, build a query in Contentful's own playground, and copy / paste into the codebase. We were also very impressed with the user experience. We were able to onboard designers and operation directors in 30 minutes, and they felt confident enough to write new content without coming to the devs. The "Draft" / "Published" states were easy to understand, and the rich text fields were super friendly for complex fields. Couldn't be happier overall!
Our only "ask" would be template strings for passing values into our text entries. For example, being able to pass a "name" parameter to Contentful, and then using that name throughout a given content model (i.e. This is {name}'s profile picture).
Basically, we needed a place to store information about our university chapters, board members, and all future content in a single place. In doing so, our content needed to be: a) Super flexible as we add fields, text, flags, and other values b) Easily edit-able, so designers and product managers could update content with confidence (and without the developer tickets) In the end, Contentful delivers all of this and more!
Our content creators love the intuitive user interface and how quick it is to update content. Contentful is by far the best in this regard, compared to the other platforms we trialled. Our technical team loved how quickly there were able to get started, thanks to the great JavaScript SDK and simple content modelling. The Content Delivery API is fast and reliable, it's been a key factor in bringing our average page load time down 70%. As a NFP with a number of touch points, Contentful has been a game changer. We finally have a single repository for content that all of our sites and apps can pull from.
I really don't have many complaints but my one bug bear is that I wish the rich text editor had a few more options. We've had to come up with a few workarounds for things like superscript and subscript. It would also be great if we could embed Youtube videos, as you can with the markdown editor.
When we started our project, we had 3 main things we wanted to address: - Avoid duplication of content across our platforms - Be less brittle (i.e. allow our content creators to make changes without breaking anything) - Reduce development overhead Contentful has exceeded our expectations in meeting all of these requirements, can't speak highly enough about the platform.
