HubSpot Email Hosting Expert Review

HubSpot’s “email hosting” is not email hosting. It does not give you a mailbox, an address at your domain, or anywhere to receive mail. It is marketing email — a drag-and-drop campaign builder wired to HubSpot’s CRM. HubSpot’s own page makes this plain in its related links: “Forward emails to a hosted email address — connect a hosted email to forward emails to your conversations inbox.” It assumes your mailboxes live somewhere else. Anyone arriving here from an email-hosting shortlist should know that before reading further.

  • What it is: Marketing email inside HubSpot’s Marketing Hub, not mailbox hosting.
  • Best for: Teams already on HubSpot’s CRM who want campaign email built on that data.
  • Pricing: Free for 2,000 emails a month; €7/mo/seat Starter; €792/mo Professional. Verified August 2026.
  • The honest catch: Email automation is Professional-only — a jump from €7 to €792 a month.

What Is HubSpot Email Hosting?

It is HubSpot’s email marketing tool, filed on HubSpot’s own site under the “email hosting” name. What it does is send campaigns: a drag-and-drop editor with premade templates, personalisation tokens that pull from HubSpot’s Smart CRM, list segmentation by lifecycle stage, deliverability reporting and an email health score.

The distinction that matters for this listing is between hosting email and sending email. An email hosting provider gives you mailboxes — you@yourcompany.com, with an inbox, IMAP, storage. HubSpot gives you none of that. What it offers instead, on paid tiers, is the ability to connect your domain so HubSpot can send on your behalf, which is a DNS authorisation (SPF and DKIM) rather than a mailbox. HubSpot’s own FAQ words it exactly that way: “This gives HubSpot permission to send emails on your behalf, and can improve deliverability.”

So if you came looking for somewhere to host info@yourcompany.com, this is the wrong product and no plan on the page changes that. If you already have mailboxes and want campaign email tied to your CRM records, it is a serious option — that is genuinely what HubSpot is good at.

HubSpot Marketing Hub’s four tiers: Free at EUR 0, Starter at EUR 7 per seat down from EUR 20, Professional at EUR 792 down from EUR 880 including 3 core seats, and Enterprise at EUR 3,300 including 5.

How HubSpot Email Works

  • Four tiers: Free, Starter, Professional, Enterprise.
  • Free sends 2,000 emails a month, for up to 2 users.
  • Your own sending domain requires Starter or above.
  • Email automation and workflows require Professional or above.
  • Seats are bundled: 3 on Professional, 5 on Enterprise.
  • Enterprise carries a required one-time onboarding fee.

HubSpot Email Hosting Pricing

Captured from hubspot.com/pricing/marketing in August 2026. Euros as served to our location.

Plan Price Was Seats Marketing contacts Credits
Free €0/mo — Up to 2 users — —
Starter €7/mo/seat €20/mo/seat per seat 1,000 500
Professional €792/mo €880/mo 3 core seats 2,000 3,000
Enterprise €3,300/mo — 5 core seats 10,000 5,000
Capability Cheapest plan that has it Cost

Remove HubSpot branding from email Starter €7/mo/seat
Send from your own domain Starter €7/mo/seat
Email automation / workflows Professional €792/mo
Email approvals, journey automation Enterprise €3,300/mo
The steps
Starter → Professional €7 → €792 = 113×
Starter → Professional at list prices €20 → €880 = 44×
Professional → Enterprise €792 → €3,300 = 4.17×
Additional core seats €45/mo (Pro), €75/mo (Enterprise)
Required one-time Enterprise onboarding €6,830
Enterprise, first twelve months €46,430

Bar chart of what each HubSpot email capability costs a year: EUR 0 to send on Free, EUR 84 to send from your own domain on Starter, EUR 9,504 to automate on Professional, and EUR 46,430 for Enterprise in year one.

What actually decides your cost:

  • The category is wrong, and that is the most useful thing this review can tell you. HubSpot provides no mailboxes. Its own page links an article on how to “connect a hosted email to forward emails to your conversations inbox” — an instruction that only makes sense if your email is hosted elsewhere. If you need you@yourdomain.com to receive mail, you want Google Workspace, Zoho Mail, Fastmail or your hosting provider, not this.
  • Automation is the cliff, and it is enormous. HubSpot’s FAQ states: “Marketing automation, including email workflows, is available on Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise editions.” So sending an email costs €7 a month; making that email fire automatically when someone fills a form costs €792 a month — 113 times as much, or €9,504 a year. Even measured against the undiscounted prices it is 44×. There is nothing in between, and for most buyers evaluating “email software” that single line decides everything.
  • The Starter discount is exactly what it claims. The banner reads “Save up to 65% on Starter”, and the card shows €7/mo/seat against a struck-through €20/mo/seat — precisely 65.0%. The terms attached are equally specific: “New customers only. Select offers available for a limited time.” Professional is separately marked down from €880 to €792, a quieter 10%, with no badge.
  • Professional’s price is for three seats, not one. It includes 3 core seats at €792, or €264 per seat, with additional seats from €45/mo. Enterprise includes 5 at €3,300 — €660 per seat — with extras from €75/mo. Comparing HubSpot’s Professional against a per-seat competitor without dividing by three overstates the gap; comparing Starter’s per-seat price against Professional’s bundle understates it.
  • Enterprise has a mandatory fee that is not in the monthly price. A footnote reads: “Cost shown does not include the required, one-time Enterprise Onboarding for a fee of €6,830.” Required, not optional. First-year Enterprise is therefore €3,300 × 12 + €6,830 = €46,430, which is 17% above the headline annual figure.
  • The free tier is genuinely usable, within limits. 2,000 emails a month for up to 2 users, no credit card, with the drag-and-drop editor, CRM segmentation, personalisation tokens and reporting. What it lacks is your own sending domain and the removal of HubSpot branding — both Starter features. For a small list, that is a real free product rather than a demo.
  • Marketing contacts are a second meter. Starter includes 1,000 marketing contacts, Professional 2,000, Enterprise 10,000. This is separate from the email send limit and from seats, so a large list can push you up a tier independently of how many people use the software or how many emails you send. Price it against your contact database, not just your team.
  • HubSpot Credits are a third meter. Starter includes 500, Professional 3,000, Enterprise 5,000, and more cost €9.00 per 1,000 when paid annually. They power AI agents and automated actions, billed by consumption — so the monthly plan price is a floor rather than a total once you use those features.
  • The affiliate link resolves cleanly. /go/hubspot-email-hosting returns 200 and lands on the exact page the listing names, hubspot.com/products/marketing/email-hosting, carrying Impact’s irclickid and HubSpot’s mpid parameters. No redirect chain and no bot challenge.

Who Should Use HubSpot Email

  • Existing HubSpot CRM users. Campaign email built directly on the contact records you already keep.
  • Small lists testing the water. 2,000 emails a month free, with segmentation and reporting.
  • Teams whose email is one part of a marketing stack. Ads, social, SEO and analytics sit in the same Hub.
  • Organisations that need governance. Email approvals and journey automation exist, at Enterprise.

It fits poorly for anyone who actually wants email hosting, since HubSpot provides no mailboxes; for small teams needing automation, where the only route is €792 a month; and for buyers with large contact databases on cheap plans, since marketing contacts are metered separately.

Honest Pros and Cons

Strengths

  • A free tier that sends 2,000 emails a month with no card.
  • CRM-native personalisation and segmentation rather than a bolted-on list tool.
  • Starter’s 65% discount verifies exactly — €7 against €20.
  • Professional bundles 3 seats, Enterprise 5, at €45 and €75 for extras.
  • Deliverability tooling including an email health score.
  • The affiliate link lands on the exact page the listing names.

Limitations

  • It is not email hosting — no mailboxes, no inbox, no address at your domain.
  • Automation costs 113× what sending costs — €7 to €792 a month.
  • Enterprise onboarding is €6,830 and is required.
  • Three separate meters: seats, marketing contacts and credits.
  • Your own sending domain requires a paid plan.
  • The Starter discount is new customers only, for a limited time.

HubSpot Email Alternatives and How It Compares

If you want actual email hosting:

  • Google Workspace is the default for mailboxes at your own domain.
  • Zoho Mail is the cheaper business mailbox alternative.
  • Fastmail is the independent, privacy-focused option.

If you want marketing email, which is what this actually is:

  • Mailchimp is the incumbent, with automation far below €792 a month.
  • Klaviyo is stronger for ecommerce segmentation.

The Verdict

The first thing to say about HubSpot’s email hosting is that it is not email hosting, and the confusion is not the reader’s fault — HubSpot uses the phrase itself. But the product is marketing email: a campaign builder that draws on HubSpot’s CRM to personalise and segment at scale. It provides no mailboxes. The page’s own related-resources section offers to show you how to “connect a hosted email to forward emails to your conversations inbox”, which is an instruction that presupposes your email is hosted elsewhere. If your requirement is an inbox at your own domain, stop here and look at Google Workspace, Zoho Mail or Fastmail.

Judged as what it actually is, it is good, and the free tier is genuinely generous: 2,000 emails a month for two users with no credit card, including the drag-and-drop editor, CRM-powered segmentation, personalisation tokens and deliverability reporting. Starter at €7 a month per seat — verified as exactly 65% off the €20 list price, for new customers and for a limited time — adds your own sending domain and removes HubSpot branding. For a small business with a modest list, that is a fair price for competent software.

Then comes the number that decides most purchases. Email automation — workflows, the thing that makes marketing email worth buying — is Professional and Enterprise only. Professional is €792 a month. Sending an email costs €7; making it send itself costs €792, 113 times as much, or €9,504 a year. There is no intermediate tier. If automation is why you are shopping, HubSpot’s practical entry price is not €7 and not €20 but €792, and at that level you are comparing against a very different set of products.

Two structural points worth carrying into any quote. Professional’s €792 includes three core seats (€264 each, extras from €45) and Enterprise’s €3,300 includes five (€660 each, extras from €75) — so per-seat comparisons need dividing first. And Enterprise carries a required one-time onboarding fee of €6,830 that is excluded from the displayed price, making the real first year €46,430 rather than €39,600. Add that marketing contacts and HubSpot Credits are metered separately from both seats and sends, and the monthly figure on the card is a floor rather than a forecast.

FAQ

Does HubSpot provide email hosting?

No. Despite the product name, HubSpot does not provide mailboxes, inboxes or email addresses at your domain. It provides marketing email — campaign sending built on its CRM. On paid plans you can connect your domain so HubSpot can send on your behalf, which is a DNS authorisation rather than hosting. For actual mailboxes you need a provider such as Google Workspace, Zoho Mail or Fastmail.

How much does HubSpot email cost?

In euros as captured August 2026. Free is €0 for up to 2 users and 2,000 emails a month. Starter is €7 per seat per month, discounted from €20 for new customers. Professional is €792 a month including 3 core seats, discounted from €880. Enterprise is €3,300 a month including 5 core seats, plus a required one-time onboarding fee of €6,830.

How many emails can I send on HubSpot’s free plan?

Up to 2,000 per month, per HubSpot’s own FAQ. The free tier also allows up to 2 users and includes the drag-and-drop editor, CRM segmentation, personalisation tokens and reporting. It does not allow sending from your own domain or removing HubSpot branding — both require Starter or above.

Which HubSpot plan do I need for email automation?

Professional at €792 a month, or Enterprise. HubSpot states that “marketing automation, including email workflows, is available on Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise editions”. Since Starter costs €7 per seat, that makes automation a 113× step with no intermediate tier — the single largest jump on the pricing page and, for most buyers, the decisive one.

Are there costs beyond HubSpot’s monthly plan price?

Yes, three. Additional core seats cost from €45/mo on Professional and €75/mo on Enterprise. Marketing contacts are metered separately — 1,000 on Starter, 2,000 on Professional — so a large list can force an upgrade on its own. And HubSpot Credits, which power AI agents and automated actions, are consumption-billed at €9.00 per 1,000 when paid annually, with 500 included on Starter. Enterprise adds the €6,830 required onboarding.
