I like the recordings that posthog gives us. When we are attempting to find bugs in our software, the recordings are invaluable

Sometimes the recordings stop recording if a customer becomes inactive. I wonder if posthog just doesn't realize they become active again or not.

Initializing the Post Hog script and making dashboard with insights was very easy to set up out-of-the-box.

There is some polish required to resolve a number of warnings in the console from the out-of-the-box initialization. I waited over 2 weeks for a response and finally received one but in that time frame I did not know if I would receive support. I couldn't find anything online in the documentation or issues that helped me resolve the noisy console output.

There's everything you would need from a product like this. For me, the best is really the quality of documentation, the ease of integration, and generally the friendlyness of working with it as developer.

The UI sometimes crashes, but it happens rarely.

Feature flags and generally usage behavior

As a product leader, I have to follow-up what is being shipped over the time, to confirm or reprove hypothesis set once launched. With Posthog, I can track down metrics through events and funnels, watch recordings, have a look at heatmaps ... As well, one of my mission is to empower team and spread the product culture accross the organization, and the ease of use of Posthog help me share and make Posthog use by different teams. Last but not least, the "Actions" allow you to combine events with OR, that is not always accessible on other tools.

Posthog could be sometimes slow in terms of loading data and graphs. As well, CSV export seems to be broken for a while.

Follow and understand product use in order to 1) compare through time 2) trigger dedicated research when needed

It's easy to set up and use. I was able to get up and running with PostHog in just a few minutes. The interface is clean and intuitive, and the documentation is excellent.

PostHog provides an all-in-one solution to manage your entire product pipeline. The most important feature to us has been the ability to directly see how users are using the the service. That allows us to easily pinpoint product painpoints and provides developers with a direct way to reproduce bugs.

Getting started with PostHog can be a bit overwhelming, particularly if you're not looking to use the full complement of features that the platform has to offer.

Using session replay, PostHog is allowing us to reproduce long-standing bugs that were otherwise difficult to track down. It is also providing us with much deeper insight into how our users use the product and what areas need improvement.

Coming from a data scientist background, I wanted something that just let me get the data without fuss, that dont invent new terms or dumb things down and I do feel PostHog has just the right features.

It's very focused on websites and can sometimes not respond when you try to add an ARRR dashboard for example. It's minor things. My use case is iOS for game analytics.

It helps segment users. Check on their behaviors to improve product market fit and also make the funnel work. It has an easy installation and a perfect freenium model.

Toolbar is credibly intuitive to add an action and the html selection criteria are easy to adjust.

Dashboards are hard to create and filtering traffic on a site wide basis (i.e. filtering out our automated traffic) don't seem to be supported.

When releasing a large product, we want to ensure it is being adopted into the general workflow. Secondly, we want to find bugs before users report them.

We have been using posthog for a while now and I can safely say that it has some of the best analytical features out there. It did help us with collecting user data but not only that it records the session of users which helps us understand what really a user experiences when they first open our dashboard.

I feel like posthog should provide more analytical measurements like Google Analytics and clarity.

It is helping us analyse the user behaviour which further help us serve them better.

PostHog is great tool to see if your SaaS dashboard is user friend or not, what are the problems your users might be facing and how many users are actively using the service.

The only thing I find difficult with PostHog is its integration with Tag manager. Also, it would be great to have some more metrics like Rention rate and rage click.

I'm lost after the first setup. It's not clear how to achieve my objectives. eg. You could provide easily available campaign statistcics

I need to understand where people that are fulfiling my marketing gols are comming from. I also want to understand how many people are visiting the website.

The recording feature is awesome, to add that with the heat map, i can just see what people are looking for and actually clicking, with page by page funnel. And I can try most of those features before even starting to pay

Not a lot to dislike, I had some bugs that got fixed and At times, it takes a lot of time to find your way around, and there are a lot of stats in front of your eyes, some of which feel un-useful, and you need some time to understand and get familiar.

I'm trying Posthog for my website. I wondered a lot about what I should use to track stats down on my site, because many plugins and stuff that WordPress offers felt to be inaccurate, and Post hog just answered most of my needs with free way to test it

We have a self hosted solution. Sometimes there is an error saying that the query took too much time to execute and the whole dashboard becomes empty

i like the session recordings and how it automatically records the user data and ties it all in together. the charts are also very helpful

I can't see live sessions going on right now. I'm unable to query session recording by user

Free (to 1M events) platform for all-you-can-product, including recordings, A/B tests, feature flagging, etc. Would be the top choice if we had a lot of DEVs on our team, and would replace a majority of our stack

Setting up and utilizing A/B tests requires lots of DEV power on the team, which we unfortunately are lacking in. It would be more impressive if it integrated more closely into our product!

A simple install for a host of product functionality that our product wouldn't have had otherwise. It's quick to empower our team!

I like how detailed the documentation is; getting up to speed with everything took no time.

I would love a bit more focus on the consequences of GDPR for each deployment method in the docs, much like how Plausible is doing things, given that we are moving to a much more privacy-centric approach with analytics.

PostHog gives me a robust set of product-building tools without any work. This allows me to focus on building my product, and Posthog gives a helping hand in understanding when things are working well and when they are not.

Providing us analytics on our documentation pages on our website. Using it for Zendesk and is way better than what they provide.

Love the user interface. It reminds me a lot of Amplitude because the UI is very similar and similar features are being offered, but for a small fraction of the price!

I wish that there was a little bit more in terms of alerting and notifications, more specifically in realtime. Unsure if that is in place or not so i may be off base her.

It was pretty long until we got everything set up. Mostly we struggled with cross domain tracking, so we have the whole user journey.

It's mainly helping us know users better, seeing what they do, testing new features with experiments, and helping qa reproduce bugs via session recording. It's benefiting us by knowing our product better

The data queries are fast and we are able to generate good results and dashboards as per our requirements. The only problem sometimes happens that when we try to add multiple filters and long date range data it sometimes takes time to load data and the worst happens when it just gives up and the system stops giving data and times out.

Query run Auto start while the user is still setting up all the required. This is too much frustrating. While I am just setting up all the filters it auto-starts the run. I am not sure why this feature was added and what would be the advantage. But it would have been great if there was a button "Run" and once the user is done peacefully adding all the filters user could just press run and then the query would start fetching the data as per the required filters set

Quick data analysis where we do no need to write custom SQL queries. Earlier we were using some other partner for data analysis where there were limitations and after an extent, we had to write our custom SQL query. With Posthog anyone with no to less knowledge of SQL can also get the required data without needing help from anyone technically

I really like, that you can self host it on your server and that it's gdpr compliant.

You feel that it's not complete as for now. Many things are not self explaining and you need to dig in.

I replaced Hotjar with PostHog. I record users to get a better knowledge what my users are doing on my site.

I like the SDK and the time series data representation. The implicit attribution is also a nice touch. I like the dashboard's ease of creation and top-level filtering.

I dislike the export features, the snowflake integration is brittle. I dislike the query system for complicated funnel analysis. It's very pricey and cannot reconcile events.

Posthog allows us to gather user insights quickly while focusing on actually building the product.
