Compare DigitalOcean with other popular tools in the same category.
It's cost model and scalability and stability are ideal for development and deployment for entry to medium level users. Simple to use and a wide range of options.
Never had any downtime or issues with service so there is nothing I dislike.
Launching apps and services cost effectively that are stable and can scale with ease to manage. Digital Ocean is designed for this.
Easy of use, powerful tools, Script Collection, Reporting and Support
Nothing that I can think of offhand, great experience over the years
UpTime, time to deploy, managing updates, deployment and performance tools, saves times keeps the systems running
1. Price prediction - you buy a Virtual Machine for 20$/month and you know exactly how much you will be charged. It's much better than Amazon Web Services where it's impossible to predict. 2. Very convenient service for Kubernetes clusters. It works "out-of-the-box" and it is much more convenient than google developer console. 3. Ability to recover access to the virtual machine even if you lost your security key (which is not the option in AWS) 4. Ability to turn on a back up for 20% of your virtual machine price 5. Possibility to split virtual machines by projects 6. Digital Ocean virtual machine is very powerful, so for such a price you get the best value - you can host up to 3 websites on one $5/month machine 7. Very simple, smart and user friendly interface to work, so learning time cost is almost zero 8. Possibility to connect via web platform and feel almost no difference to SSH connection. 9. Digital Ocean has a lot of pre-built images for most of popular developer needs. 10. All disks are SSD and time to set the virtual machine up is less than 1 minute
Hard to find..., but their authentication process is not perfect. If you logged in with google profile - you have a trouble to sign-in and have to go over several google authentication. Another disadvantage is that it's not "one-window" service for all you digital needs. It does not have possibility to buy domain
I found the best cloud service provider and host our company's websites exclusively on Digital Ocean. The main benefit is controlling the budget in a simple way. Very fast possibility to start virtual machine.
1) One click and create the Virtual Server 2) Easy manage the virtual server configuration. 3) Trafic data and server usage data.
To be honest there is nothing i dislike about droplets.
I have deployed multiple websites using DigitalOcean droplets
digitalocean is built by developers for developers so they understand our needs and in my opinion DO droplets are the best and easiest way to deploy code.
there’s nothing that i dislike about digitalocean, their features fulfill our needs so nothing to complain about.
our wordpress website is hosted on a linux droplet provided by DigitalOcean at an affordable price, we also use it to deploy some python scripts that we developed internally to automate some company tasks.
It is a software with application programming interface tools, totally easy to use for developers, mentioning that it contains a beautiful collection of products that grows all the time adding new copies every year, for a better choice of each of these, without excluding that its ease of use allows you to set up a new server in a matter of minutes, underlining that public forums are incredibly useful, as are official help articles.
Obtaining responses from DigitalOcean support may be slow and may not be adequate without an additional care plan, providing a low proportion to users of this platform, highlighting that it needs better increments for virtualization, generally highlighting that it requires new updates for better internal development for companies that use this software, as it currently has many drawbacks according to its design.
We use DigitalOcean in the organization for all our cloud computing needs, including instances when mentioning these terms, mostly in our department where the developer-based team is concentrated, most of all to complete the development environments of the applications, in the same way we self-host some tools with this branch of profit for which we use the software, mentioning the marketing that benefits us in magnificent proportions on the servers of this system.
I use the digital ocean for running my own websites and my clients' websites. I am not a full-stack DevOps developer and I don't know how actually the things behind are working, however, with a simple applications like what Digital Ocean provides I am actually being able to run my Ghost Blog or Discourse in minutes without having a huge cost of another server or need to a highly costed developer.
The digital ocean provides everything in so simple way, however, if you made a mistake you are the one being charged since you rent a VPS, you have to know at least the basics to run your server flawlessly.
The benefits of the digital ocean are: - Almost same cost as running a shared hosting. - A developer is not actually required to run your website, everything is one-click away. - The UI is better and easy looking than their competitors like AWS or Azure. - The support forum is helpful if you stack to solve your issue, I am pretty sure someone has already had the same issue and it has been solved.
Digital Ocean is the easiest way to spin up virtual machines (Droplets) in the cloud. Droplet backups are easy to enable and affordable. On demand snapshots can be taken (different from backups). Firewall configurations can be applied to multiple Droplets at once. Pricing is straightforward.
Backups do not include on demand snapshots and cannot be set to a custom schedule. This makes it an easy on/off switch but doesn't grant much flexibility.
I've saved myself and my clients money by moving infrastructure, such as a PBX, to Digital Ocean.
The speed at which you can create a server, do some testing, throw it away and it's cost pennies. I've used Digital Ocean for testing servers, long term hosting, backup solutions from other cloud services. The range of products on offer is continually expanding and there's a huge community of people out their to support you. Their documentation and tutorials are also excellent, and frequently come up in searches when I'm looking to solve problems.
Nothing really, in the past they've been a little behind some of the bigger providers in terms of produc t range but they're closing the gap.
Being able to create servers quickly and easily for testing was something I'd never considered before hand. Being able to create a hosted wordpress site in minutes, test some plugin updates and bin it shortly after is brilliant.
DigitalOcean droplets are easy to launch and availability of India datacenter with lowest latency and best performance are the reasons that I say DO is most suitable for me.
As far as my experience with DO for more than 2 years, currently I have no points to dislike.
DO is a good VPS service provider with datacenter at Bangalore, India. This let websites that prominently operate in India to work faster and render better performance compared to other service providers. The performance and speed of the droplets (VM instances) are really good for the price. Very well and extensive documentation is available with DigitalOcean. This makes setup, installation of third party software, plugins and maintenance of the droplets really easy.
