It is user friendly, looks exactly as management would like to see a visual of any timeline and very self explanatory.
Its connectivity with other SW applications. It can look amazing but would be even better if it could be integrated as part of a project management tool and not only as an extraction.

The price is a disadvantage as I would like to pay for a version that no longer requires an update. For example, I have 2016 PowerPoint and do not plan to upgrade as it works for me, and they work on a SaaS model when they are giving the software for installation. It is an all-or-nothing approach; you need to pay the subscription yearly or use the free version. I would like to have a less expensive and not updatable rather than pay yearly for few or inexistent new features.
I am making roadmaps or Gantt charts directly in PowerPoint in few clicks. This tool is fantastic for the end-user, especially with how busy we tend to be; you can edit the timetable as your project progress and don't need to redo the whole slide to deliver project updates. It also updated the "today" line graphically for you without the need to move it manually. You can replan and can improve the project plan on few clicks; this is fantastic for executives and users
Office timeline save you a LOT of time and effort. It's a better way to make and present project plans, Gantt charts and timelines. You can easily design and create graphical project slides in PowerPoint. It allows you to quickly create stylish project visuals that show your work to clients, teams and managers. This add-on save me a lot of time and effort.
I don't know if there is anything that I dislike regarding office timeline other than it's an additional download. In the past I was manually creating timeline which took up so much. I do wish that there were more features available without a upgrade.
The business problems that I was trying to solve with Office Timeline is creating a proper way to display data to teams. The benefits that I have realized is saving time and effort, including a easy way to update when data has changed or has been updated.
Office Timeline Pro really does make it easy to create a project Gantt chart that makes sense to the audiences I am trying to persuade. And as the audience can assimilate and interact with my plans, I also get buy-in and approval.
It's not easy when a project won't fit on a single PPT page. I find it easier to create two different timelines.
They have really hit the sweet spot of less complexity and burden that MS Project and greater rigor than Visio. Plus their formatting gives me flexibility to customize in order to mee the particular interests of my audience.
I love how simple Office Timeline is to use, the end result makes it seem like it should be much more complicated!
Load times are a bit slow, but that might be my system.

It is a direct plug-in that resides in the PowerPoint toolbar. You can show various types of graphs with milestones and event flags. Your data is entered into a table, then the app creates the graphic.
Some formatting of where tags and descriptions appear on the timeline graphic are not intuitive. There is a bit of a learning curve to get the text placement where you want it.
