That it's free, and more secure than older Cisco products using a <2048-bit key. Don't need any special hardware, and old server will do with a few NIC cards. I highly recommend from an admin/power user perspective, as you have an extremely secure & reliable VPN tool here that is self-healing and can work well in production environments on a shoe-string budget.
User interface is very minimal, the Windows client has been improved but is a little confusing for some users since it resides in the system tray and relies on alt-clicking to connect, etc.
Network security and remote access. Site-Site VPN with no specialized hardware or monthly fees. Works well across multiple platforms, allows me to connect remote Mac clients, Windows 10, and even Linux all through one piece of software.
I like that I can simply connect to the Open VPN. Once I'm connected I have no problem accessing our database remotely. It doesn't disconnect while I'm using it and it doesn't even seem to slow down the data base.
I dislike that I have such a long password and that there doesn't seem to be an obvious option for having the password stored in the system. I save the password in MS Word and then have to copy paste it to connect. Seems like a waste of time.
When I need to work out of the office and still access the data warehouse I use this tool. It allows me to be more flexible in my work location.
we use OpenVPN for users in the company to accessing the resources of the company in a secure way. it works really well and easy to install and work with. I use it a few times a weeks. it has a nice integration with DUO.
The downside mostly is thst after a new updated version of the app comes out, you have to reinstall it, somtimes the older versions stop workig
OpenVPN makes our resources access more secure so not anyone can reach it from anywere. We can manage who can access what easily.
The OpenVPN Access Server is a virtual private network solution that offers safe remote access to network resources. It is simple to deploy and use and has a web-based management interface to make setting up and managing the VPN easier. It can be integrated with third-party authentication systems and user management tools and installed on many platforms, including Linux, Windows, and macOS. Data is transferred securely through the VPN using industry-standard encryption methods and protocols, a must-have feature in our business. Also, it allows two-factor authentication, which raises the bar for authentication security.
OpenVPN Access Server can be expensive for companies, significantly larger ones that need more licenses. Another potential issue is that the software may not be suitable for high-traffic environments or large-scale enterprise networks, as it may not handle many concurrent connections.
OpenVPN Access Server solves the problem of secure remote access to network resources, allowing users to connect to their organization's network from remote locations while ensuring the security and privacy of data. It benefits organizations with remote workers who must provide secure access to sensitive information to authorized users outside their physical network. OpenVPN Access Server's security features, such as encryption and authentication, help protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.
We use it for our organisational purpose. The software is easy to use and intuitive. I have not faced any issues with it so far.
No major dislikes with regards to the product, the UI can be worked on a bit to look better.
OpenVPN is helping us in protecting the data in transit and also managing which all users will have access to our network resources.
Openvpn is easy to setup , provides flexibility to use AMI depend upon total user need , can be setup and customised easily using openvpn UI , openvpn provides better security to access services running inside private subnet
Openvpn provides restrictions on total number of users also there are issues sometimes when you enable internet traffic to route through openvpn option.
Openvpn provides security to access services running in private subnet in cloud environment

Easy VPN solution on the first implentation and installation on various devices like Desktop on Windows is very easy.
1. Easy and secure remote and browsing. 2. The ability to relocate your browsing location is excellent. 3. Simple to detect threats. 4. Secure file transfer. 5. Browsing activities protection.
The best and easy way to connect to your organization and get things going. We have been using the tool for the past 5 years and there have been zero issues faced. Seamless connection.
There is a limit to usability and very rarely the connection drops automatically. There has been no downside to the tool apart from this. Makes the speed slow sometimes.
Networking solution for the entire organization made simple with Open VPN. We were able to connect multiple users with a single set of credentials making it more economic.
The efficiency and reliability of this software are excellent.
Sometimes the internet does not work if your connection disconnect.
I am accessing Analytics tools after connecting to this.
The best feature, of course, is that, as its name suggests, it is an Open Source solution (free), meaning that if you have a Cloud-based (or Cloud-capable) computer - NOT necessarily Server - you can just deploy your own OpenVPN server on it and you're ready to go. The features are pretty good for an OS solution, including tunneling, port forwarding, and certificate authority, among others.
There's little to not like about OpenVPN, given that it's very global and generic. Perhaps more compatibility with other non-PC devices, such as game consoles, TV streaming devices and such, could be very much appreciated. But in terms of corporate usage, it's a total all-around solution in itself.
Our main goal for using OpenVPN is for direct access to some servers on our premises overseas. We basically deployed the OpenVPN server on a Debian Linux VM server and left it running 24/7 there. Through tunneling, we can then access our hypervisor and guest VMs directly from any of our platforms (PC, Mac, mobile devices).
The best about OpenVPN is the easiness to get the server up from the admin console. Also, the OpenVPN client is also very much easier to set up. The network traffic filtering is another cool feature it got. In a nutshell OpenVPN got decent features as well as the capability of customizing the server/client configs which is amazing.
Even though it got very good customization capability, it's not very straightforward to get connected for a non-technical person.
As an organization, we are having a lot of sensitive servers where we need VPN tunneling to take the data out of the internet also, we need the Virtual Private Network to get all our team network traffic connected via a server during the work from the home period. So the OpenVpn helps us in all of these scenarios.
The best thing about OpenVPN is I can easily import VPN files given by the client and connect to VPN, and it saves the profile; hence next time connection to VPN is just one click. I like the UI of the Open VPN.
What I don't like about the Open VPN is it timeout automatically in a couple of minutes, and that leads to inactivity of my established connection in the Putty.
I am using the OpenVPN for VPN establishment to the private network, and I feel it is easy to use OpenVPN compare to other VPN clients.
Very easy to configure and implement, excellent security features, very easy to use and reliable.
Managing multiple connection configurations can be a little bit cumbersome to get setup in the software, but once you complete the configuration, it becomes extremely simple to use - just set it and forget it!
We needed a secure method to connect to our remote servers and to Amazon Web Services cloud servers. OpenVPN provided those capabilities wonderfully, and all for free!
You can access the company VPN using any device (laptop, smartphone, tablet, ...)
Easy to use but extremely poor in options
When I'm travelling for work, I can access the company VPN easily using the mobile connectivity. It makes my job easier!
OpenVPN is a solution that I use in my office as well as at home. OpenVPN allows me to treat myself with my private VPN server from a device of my choice. Thanks to OpenVPN, I can safely use open hotspot networks and also use the safe Internet during my travels. An additional advantage is the fact that OpenVPN has a user-friendly web interface for managing the server.
The only thing I don't like is that the free license is only available for 2 devices.
With OpenVPN, I can safely treat my company's server in the chosen location.
I have been using this program for more than three years, although it has shown me to be incoherent on some occasions, I have to say that it has complied with everything set out, offers excellent servers to be free, with stable and excellent speed to navigate, protect your data and stay anonymous to prevent theft of information, an excellent program for anyone.
Connection weakness, it does not provide support, the program does not notice if it is disconnected from the server, it can connect to an unwanted server, the speed may decrease, it does not provide additional security.
I can have a secure connection to my server, so I'm no longer worried about using free WiFi in public areas.
Open VPN is Free & Open Source Easy to configure from both Server & client end. Light weight client software available for most OSs.
Sometimes the connection gets slow due to openVPN
We're hiding our Cloud Architecture from public. Was able to remove public IP addresses from our virtual machines in the cloud.
Easy to set up point-to-point tunnels from other OpenVPN routers to other OpenVPN routers, cross-platform compatibility with apples, windows, androids and Linux devices, lots of assistance and GUI is very easy for window users to use as long as they can remember to open it in the correct corner of the tray and click connect first before attempting to open other network resources such as remote desk.
The interface is easy without any actual use in addition to choosing a server and turning it on. Would you like to see a bandwidth monitor, server CPU use
It was positive because it met the demands for which it was intended, is effective and of quality, and I suggest it because it is a helpful instrument in terms of the safety of private and business data.
OpenVPN is an easy software with open source software, which allows you to create encrypted virtual tunnels for secure communication and data transfer. This allows me to easily, quickly and securely connect to their work and home network. It has useful application for Android, tailored to the needs of the user or administrator.
People who are not ready, it's a little hard to understand why I have to explain the use of the new employees.
This allows me to remotely access my work network, to control access to the data of the employee and to protect clients' data.
OpenVPN is a multi-platform solution (compatible with most popular systems and mobile devices), valued by users around the world, VPN server, which allows you to set up a connection between the host and a local computer encrypted with the use of OpenSSL library, supporting authentication with keys, as well as certificates, username and password, and, in a version for Windows, additional cards. Additional advantages of the application are support for NAT machines, dynamic IP addresses, high scalability, and load balancing mechanism.
- A free license allows you to connect a limited number of devices. - Setting up a private server can be difficult for new users.
Thanks to OpenVPN, I can safely use public networks in a chosen place in the world and bypass the regional blockade.
