Create and publish application with Low or NO coding knowledge. Even a non-developer can use the OutSystems platform to make a basic application live in no time. Best thing is creation and integration of Data Entities right there in the platform itself, without worrying about any separate database, connectivity, data fetching queries etc.

The screens get generated with a default theme. There must be an easy way to select or create n set a Look-n-feel theme (styleguide) right from the beginning to get the sense of ownership and uniquness.

Now a days there are lots of Front-End and BackEnd technologies, libraries and tools. Learning them and using them to create an application is time consuming. Even for a tradition web application, lots of things need to be set before actually reaching to business logic. With Outsystems, this design to publish time has reduced many folds. No need to learn any language, tools, libraries etc, focus on What you want, and create if on OutSystems.

The product different designer for Web and Mobile development. With different designers for both This can also be considered a con, how ever the amount of unique developement options provided do merit having a different suites.

Lack flexibility as compared to other rivals. The functions provided are very limited and sometimes you have to create custom logics that are completed using functions in other offering.

Outsystems is more accessible that some offerings, letting users use the website and application without having an account initially. It also lets developers use HTMl, CSS, JScript while designing the sites which look unique.

It's really easy to create aesthetically pleasing, and easy-to-use interfaces. Creating the data models is also straightforward as it clearly mimics well-known database schemas.

The toolset that can be used for actions ( Outsystems take on function's/methods ) is rather limited. It's focused on fetching data, and manipulating the screens. More advanced logic ( array manipulation, set operations etc ) can be achieved, but it's cumbersome to do and is not provided from the box. As a result, when trying to implement algorithms ( any algorithm really ) you really first need to implement numerous auxiliary functions to avoid creating an unreadable, and unmaintainable mess.

Outsystems is very well suited to quickly create corporate applications that focus and viewing and editing data. Case management applications are also easy to create

The drag and drop functionality of the Outsystems is one of the best things. The interface maintained for development is well maintained and understandable.

Yeah. The latest update of outsystem service studio seems to be not good and gets stuck a lot. Also some of the advanced features of Outsystems can have a handful of resources.

With outsystems applications are easy to build.

During the process of my certification, I appreciate the easy way of doing the exam in the comfort of our home. Everything was easy.

Some of the questions seem to have different interpretations, with different answers that could be valid. This has led me to choose "wrong" answers.

Outsystems is solving the "hard" process of the development of applications or websites. With OutSystems is easy and fast to implement what we want without the "bureaucratic" process.

It's really easy to learn and you can create things that usually required days in a few minutes. The flow interface is awesome, I wish I could have something like that a "normal" programming language.

OutSystems does a lot, but not everything. It's frustrating when you cannot perform a simple task because there are limitations in the components or in the architecture. For example, you cannot paginate data from the local storage and there is no way to overcome it.

I don't need to learn how to develop a mobile application.

While discussing business requirements it is easy to very quickly show how something will look or what is possible inside the product. Mockups can be made fairly quick.

If you are used to just coding your whole applications it can be that you miss certain features or functionalities. Like having no IDE for the css part of your application.

It is great that optimalisations is already done in features like aggregates. Also the fact that a lot of UI widgets are already available makes creating a functional front-end much easier.

Speed of development, good overview of applications, good automated suggestions to improve code. One thing that's absolutely great about outsystems is that everything seems to be connected and actually works... example: changing a column name in a table will be reflected immediately across all forms, queries and logic where you've used that table. I've seen many flow editors, and outsystems is one of the best.

The fact that this speed comes with a price of bad architecture in the absence of a Domain Architect. It's too easy to create dependencies across modules, without a proper API Manager interface. Point to point connections can be created almost unknowingly.

Invoicing, Payments, Mobile apps, integration API's. All with great speed. Last thing we've implemented was a paypage, that calls an API from a credit/paypage company. It took 2 days to implement, including UI. One other thing that's important is that litterally any developer (front end, back end, database etc etc) is able to use outsystems in no time.

The fact that you can have an application published and ready for testing without the involvement of other teams. The ability to generate apps for both iOS and Android.

At the moment there is no real code branching implemented which requires some extra planning for teamwork. The fact that we cannot bundle any static data together with the mobile app.

Digitizing some of the paper based processes. And as a benefit the fact that we can build the app for both Android and iOS at the same time as well as having support for tablets.

The drag and drop feature is actually great. Ease of use is a very important aspect of the product. It's also really easy to integrate with other applications.

I quite dislike the fact that there is a very threatening level of pre-required knowledge to use the software. Once you get going, the upsides really show, but the barriage of starting is def. there.

Some of the elements in the UI lack names or labels so that I could understand it asap, also I think there I'll be needing some "Getting used to" with the UI.

We are struggling to develop solutions that meet all of our needs out of the box. Extending the platform is sometimes necessary and unfortunately the resources we have are unable to do both.

We are trying to get products and solutions to market faster without having to fully define each feature ahead of time. In doing so, we have found that deployments and management of the Build, Test, Deploy processes has been something that we no longer have to worry about

The intuitiveness of the IDE is very good and new developers can easily catch on. I also like the cost of change that is very low - this is important in industries where change is at the order of the day.

I dislike the licensing model and pricing structure. I believe OutSystems can be more flexible in this regard. I also dislike the version control system as it is sometimes inadequate or cumbersome for larger teams working on the same projects

Automation of mundane tasks frees up human resources that can be applied to other areas of the business where more humans are needed.

I like the simplicity that Outsystems provides in order to create beautiful mobile apps and also Web Apps. I takes very few hours of study in order to be able to perform the hardest tasks in the platform.

The time that takes to put a solution from the Development Environment into the Production Environment. Service Center is also a bit old and doesn't look and feel like the remaining services of Outsystems.

Like I said, it's easy to use Outsystems as a platform to produce mobile and web apps since it doesn't require many hours of study to get along with the platform. It solves problems related with the need to have many developers for each and one of the mobile platforms. Outsystems allows the user to produce apps for Android and iOS in one single platform of development.
