The ability to assess the traffic of potential partners.
The fact that the Google Chrome plugin does not allow me to do quick country-specific analysis.
Determining if it's worth reaching out to/negotiating with potential partners.
Very helpful to see the engagement, unique users, total users, and all the other KPIs that are helpful to understand whether something is a good investment. I rely on Similarweb over other platforms like Crunchbase, etc. for website traffic numbers
Doesn't have much data for app traffic - a separate platform will be needed I believe (App Annie, etc.)
Traffic KPIs and whether a business is worth looking into from a corporate development perspective.
I absolutely love the main dashboard view when you login. It's very insightful and helpful to have relevant data at your finger tips, which makes it easier to know when to dig in more.
I wouldn't say that it's least helpful, since it's normal to not have all URL's visible. Like most sites, it won't have certain URL's at first. Sub-URL's can been difficult to locate and add to reporting.
It's been a great benefit to pull reports that show our competitors to research and also to possibly use for business development opportunities. It's also been a great time saver in many ways!
How love how granular the data can get and I love the competitor comparison piece. Super huge as a seller when showing some of these stats when pitching clients and for prospecting!
I wish we had more functionality in prospecting. I'd like to get more specific with some of my queries.
Prospecting source for ecommerce brands based on MAU and when pitching clients and I want to show things like marketing channels or monthly volume relative to competitor websites.
I work in the payments industry specifically payment methods local to specific countries, and Similiar web helps me understand where the traffic is coming from.
Automatic report generating does not seem to be present.
Being able to guide our clients better by knowing where their customers are based.
I have been using Similarweb as head of Data and Research in advertising for over 3 years now and it has been a critical tool to unlock insights for our clients who do heavy campaigns on their owned assets like apps and websites. The platform is comprehensive and intuitive with easy to navigate modules. Visualization is great and interactivity helps gain more information. Continuous improvement through beta functions are also provided to enrich this experience. They also have a great customer success team to maximize the tool and help our users in being experts in the platform.
Dashboard comparison for specific websites and apps are limited to a view of 5. You will need to do multiple runs if analyzing more than that, but is not impossible. Some charts are not readily exportable in PowerPoint but raw CSV files of the data are available and can be charted and visualized manually.
We have used it for pitches to determine traffic share of competing brands. We also use it to estimate brand spending on digital based on traffic and CPC estimates. It is also a good tool to get insights on channels used by brands to direct traffic to websites. It helps us unlock a lot of search insights with keywords insights and even look at optimizations based on what is common with multiple brands. It can also provide info on audiences which helps validate brand campaign targeting.
The endless filter options and great search results
The data is sometimes not complete and therefore still assumptions need to be made
To see the potential cross border business of prospects
Very important to provide insights and many ways to discover opportunities for our clients.
Data not in real time and few Brazilian insights for mobile
Greater visibility of competitor data and better predict market movements.
The best parts of SimilarWeb are the easy to use and interface and detailed consumer information. I am able to quickly look at the qualities that I care about (e.g., customer demographics, visits).
The least helpful information on SimilarWeb is the marketing channels/sources information. It's hard to understand what to do with that data. I wish it had more information on marketing efficiency as well.
My problems I am solving are i) what is the seasonality of visits, ii) how has the visit base grown YoY, and iii) where do most visits come from. I have gotten insights I cannot get anywhere else.
I installed a chrome extension for a similar web. This tool provides very crisp and relevant info in summary itself. Like traffic, global rank, etc.
Sometimes this tool does not provide any info for domains
I need to extract traffic for different websites, SW provides very easily . this tool is very efficient in this
Quick platform, ability to export data, comparisons of 5 websites/apps
The app data is still being refined and improved and it seems to diverge too much between android and iOS.
Trying to track company's growth, and have been able to get near real time views
The UI is intuitive and informative enough which helps traverse through the research in a quick & breezy manner
For researching multiple markets, you need to buy individual packages of each & every country which isn't so cool from a P&L and costs perspective.
Understanding how competition spends on their channels for the markets that we are yet to launch definitely helps us plan our strategy & media mix better
The wealth of information it provides, especially about our competitors.
The data for the previous month is usually available a bit late, around the 9th or 10th in the current month.
It helps us find out trends in traffic and analyze keywords we are interested in.
Easy to use, answer the question you have and the ones you did not know you had.
It is a trend tool, and the data is not exact, so you have to have this in mind when analyzing
Market analysis
Be it competitor analysis or keyword research, through to analyzing an entire custom industry (that you get to create yourself!) - this tool can do it all. I've used tools such as SEMRush, but I feel as though the user interface and accessibility of information weren't there. SimilarWeb has pulled out all the stops to ensure you can find any data you need as efficiently as possible.
I want the guys at SimilarWeb to simplify removing businesses from your custom web industries. Ideally, I'd like to select a company with the checkbox functionality from the "Industry leaders" tab and remove them in that manner.
The process of creating a competitor analysis for new client pitches has never been more straightforward. We're able to extract data regarding the performance of the prospects' competitors vs. their current performance. The insights are second to none.
Easy to use interface, always adding new features, great SEO data, expansive channel/site data estimates and competitive intelligence. Very clean and intuitive from a user standpoint.
Accuracy (third party tools will never be exact but estimated data can be up to 30% off), very expensive subscription cost, no ability to look at a specific site section or subdomain (root domain only).
We use SimilarWeb for competitive intelligence and competitive analysis research. Particularly helpful in cases where we do not have access to first party data.
SimilarWeb makes it easy to learn all kinds of traffic data about any website. It's incredible to see how websites rank, how many visitors came to the site, and where the traffic is coming/going. A very useful tool for e-commerce professionals!
Similarweb has some room for improvement on the interface.
Similarweb helps us gain an understanding of how our retail partners are performing at a high level and how well they are drawing customers onto their sites.
It has a competitive tracker which provides you with almost correct information about your competitors, their organic searches, paid searches, increase/decrease in numbers. The similar web also helps us find industry-relevant keywords and does a comparative analysis between the competitor and us. It keeps us updated with the seasonal keywords so that don't lag behind our competitor. Like the Facebook ads library, it helps us see the paid display creatives of our competitors with the newly added Ad Creative search feature.
Our competitor is also using the same tool to keep an eye on us. Also, I feel the numbers are inaccurate and have a 40-50% discrepancy
First of all we need to select all our competitors. The competitor tracker dashboard of Similar web gives us a clear view of changes in not only search keywords(organic and paid) but display creatives added in paid ads, referrals, social traffic, direct traffic. This comparison gives us a holistic idea about our performance in front of competitors and helps in identifying the gaps. Now we can provide direction to our marketing efforts and double down on essential metrics. Also, during fundraising, it helps us with our competitors DAU/MAU and helps us strategize accordingly.
I use SimilarWeb to determine which audiences to target for our online advertising campaigns. I can see what our client's competitors are, their interests, what they search for, and what apps they use. It gives us great results, and providing data that back up our decisions is a big plus. No need for several marketing intelligence tools anymore, so we can ditch several subscriptions. I also really like that they're constantly updating their features and services. Furthermore, other teams are now using the tool as well, so great value overall!
Some features are still in beta, which sometimes results in not 100% correct results. The keyword tool could also improve; it doesn't generate all related keywords (like in Google Ads' Keyword planner). And you can only generate keywords per one seed keyword at a time.
Before we used Similarweb, we did not have a lot of data to back our decisions in targeting. Now we can use the data in our presentations, which gives us a lot more credibility.
The user interface is simple enough to use and there are always new features. Makes tasks like competitor analysis easy to complete
The limited country filters and having to pay for any additional geographical locations.
helps analyse how are competitors are performing and we can improve on our marketing strategies
