Simplicity in how the schedule is organised, being able to drop in a project, a category, an amount of time spent, and notes for Campaign Manager names per project is fantastic!
The lack of Android App is still a little bit disappointing, but I have high hopes this will be delivered in the future.
Organising and maintaining a proper schedule within our Design Department, Helping visualise the amount of work we have currently, and adding justification to new hires.
Ease of use, visually appealing, easy to learn
Honestly- not much. We are so happy with this program.
Scheduling of 25+ employees at multiple jobs. it is SO EASY to see where they are headed now, easy to make changes, easy to allocate resources
The ability to display project and scheduling info in an easy to review summary.
The absence of integration of corporate infrastructure due to third party hosting.
Scheduling of several project leads across an entire team. Scheduling times have been cut down significantly.
Kudos to you guys! I love the newer faster Float! You are making my job much easier & faster. Love the faster navigating/scrolling and the changing of a task’s time by scrolling on the schedule up or down beats the hell out of having to open the task and do it from there. Love the new feature that you can hover over the work task and the notes appear without having to open the task. Great job, keep it up!
Would like to be able to move a task to the afternoon (or lower in the cell) for a day where it is not a full days worth of hours and there is nothing else for that employee that day. Example, I have a technician on a 4 hour training course and it is in the afternoon. He has nothing else scheduled that day but I can't move the task lower in the cell so it looks like it is scheduled for the morning. It would be nice if you could hover over the "Time off" cells and see the notes associated with it , like you can for a work task, without having to open the "time off" cell.
We used to use a HUGE white board and dry erase markers for our schedule. We thought that this was the best way for us to tackle our job scheduling and Float was met with a bit of resistance once the boss said we were going to try it. WOW, were we wrong. I would never look back now that we are using Float. One of the best tools we ever used. We are scheduling anywhere from 18 to 26 techs on this program and I fully encourage anyone even thinking of possibly trying out a program for scheduling to do your self a favor and try out Float. I'd be shocked if your not impressed by it.
I like that I (as a project manager) can manage time easily for our team of two, but can easily add contract workers, and that visually it works for my designer as well -- he struggled with really seeing how his week needed to flow when just using tasklists, like Basecamp.
Anything I haven't liked has been added (e.g. ability to do recurring tasks, reordering tasks). It's a small thing, but we also spend way too much time trying to figure out colors for all of our projects after using the default ones. I would love to be able to add a project from the schedule interface -- like when I go to schedule time and I type in a project, it tries to find it; if it's not there, it would be nice to just have "add this project" without having to exit out of the scheduling box and go into Project.
We needed a way to easily plan and then communicate on our respective tasks for the week. With Basecamp (what we use for project management currently), we could pull to-do lists, but we didn't have a macro view on the week or the month with the time that it would take to complete those tasks. My designer felt like he couldn't really "'visualize" his week and couldn't communicate easily what tasks were taking more or less time than needed. Float has proved to be invaluable for time management and communication.
The easy Way of seeing the overview of my alocated times in diffrent project over time
The bad design on the web and mobile views
Long time overview of resources
The ease to find people and compare times. The organization of all the projects.
The interface could be a little better, but nothing that bothers me too much
Time schedule and project work time! We benefit a lot from not having conflicted hours or defining what any employee should be doing at which time.
I've only been using it for about 6 months but I love how clean and to the point it is. I find my name and find out what my duties are for that day. I travel a lot so its really nice to be able to look at a week and see where in the country I may be. It allows me to start planning my travel and some sightseeing with plenty of time to spare so that once the time comes, I just get on a plane and go to work!
There's no Android app. That's a big turn off but I manage. I'd really appreciate this functionality in the future. I'm not sure if its just me but when I log in on my computer, each area takes up the whole screen. its quite strange. I have to scroll to the next person even though they should be smaller boxes. on my phone they are almost too squished to read and I haven't found a way manually size the boxes.
As a user I don't really solve any issue but some benefits are being able to see my and my coworkers schedules. My coworkers and I are all scattered around the country so its nice to be able to quickly look at an upcoming job then find out who is on it with me without having to call them all and find out who I'm working with!
SImple and easier to use. makes work life a lot clearer and organised.
To now i have not experienced any problems with the software. Genuinely.
Organisation from the top to bottom of the business. Makes everyones job much easier.
Simplicity, ease of search, user experience
The only thing that would make it easier is if you could copy paste titles (like job numbers) from pop ups.
Our resourcing and trafficking has become much easier and more streamlined
Usability and ease of use. The app is intuitive. It makes resource scheduling a breeze. One of the best UX I have seen until this day. Assigning tasks to team members with a single click couldn't be handier. All of the tools to drag, insert, slice, and duplicate tasks are right at your fingertip. Powerful search features allow our project manager to find the right people with the right skills and also manage their availability. The streamline interface is unbeatable
The iOS app needs some minor tweaks to enhance the user experience.
Scheduling time and resources within our organization has become a breeze. Cleaning up scheduling messes is not longer an issue.
Float has saved our team so much time and trouble by allowing us to do scheduling flexibly. Our team loves using this, and this has helped us to maximize our resources.
When we first started using the platform, it was a little clunky to edit events. But over time, as we provided feedback to the Float team, they've been extremely receptive and have improved the platform significantly in response.
Trying to figure out how to best allocate and track projects among a team. This has saved us lots of time and we are able to figure out what everyone is working on. We're also able to use the tool to better find bottlenecks in our work.
Easy to access and use. Friendly interface
Nothing specific, so far its good to use.
Float helps us to plan and schedule the resource in different projects, keep track of resource availability at all time.
The interface is very easy to use, all the colors and visual cues do really help the user.
I had trouble signing in sometimes. So I needed to reset m y password a number of times.
Managing medium sized teams workloads.
Its simplicity and how easy it is to navigate around. Plus I can view it without fail on my mobile.
Can't think of any cons. It does what exactly a hr planning website should do
We have a number of projects and it is quite a hassle to inform every colleague if there are any changes to the team (I.e. Additional of new members). Float allows the admin to easily add or delete projects for users so it gets reflected on the system. This allows users to view the changes immediately.
It's extremely easy to see- at a glance- what my team is booked on and who has extra time in their schedule. It also includes vacations and holidays. I no longer need to guess what's in my resource manager's head.
This is partially an organizational problem, but time logging, project tracking, invoicing all happen in separate systems. A one stop shop would be nice.
Float allows us to keep a large pool of resources more fully booked in order to be more profitable, not to mention be more responsive to our clients.
the thing I best liked about using Float is that it clearly displays what my tasks are for the day.
What I dislike about Float is how slow the web app is to respond.
We use float for daily timetabling of all production team
Very handy to get to where I want with ease. Find it great that I can find out no just what project im working on, but company-wide data. The search system is very intuitive, for example not just searching people but extending to job roles, departments.. etc
Frustrating how I can't go back in time further than a week - as an intern it would be great to see what projects I've been working on in a calendar view.
A quick and easy system that allows the company to see what everyone getting up too. There are a vast amount of projects going on and this helps accumulate everything in one place. Every design agency needs this piece of software!
The user interface is really easy to use. You can colour code all of your project, drag, drop or duplicate tasks. It's lightweight so you can update tasks quickly without needing detailed project info.
The allocation of time across multiple days. I would prefer to do it manually and it can be a bit tricky to update time.
It allows me to keep track of my time availability over coming weeks.
The schedule view is the best around, and we've tried a few. It's replaced our spreadsheets, we now have a clear view now on who's working on what. We're able to plan our time off, and we use the unassigned roles to log upcoming work. We use the Slack app to keep track of changes as they happen. The new iOS app has been handy too.
I'd love to be able to add our project budgets to track those, but I hear that feature is coming soon.
Float saves us a lot of time we previously spent in spreadsheets. We have multiple projects on the go and so it's great to be able to have a single view of them all and a quick snapshot of everyone's capacity.
